The red supergiant star Betelgeuse has exploded. Axinite almost fractured at the news of this incredible phenomenon. Without any fear of burning her vitreous retinas, she looked directly at the celestial supernova in the sky. For the last half of the summer, there was not a night that the cyclesilicate left her telescope aside. Her forecast is 5 months of uninterrupted light, a period of time that covers all of autumn and part of winter. Brilliant hope for those who do not die.

Mineral life forms are organisms of defined chemical composition. From phosphates, sulfates, carbonates to silicates, these beings are collectively understood as the only intelligent species on Earth. Gems not only shine for their varied colors, their abundant intelligence, strength, and beauty, but they also stand out for their imperishable capacity. In short, immortality, even if their body breaks into a thousand pieces, as long as most of their parts are recovered and rejoined, gems will revive again and again. In this way, for more than 10,000 years, generations of mineral life have inhabited this immaculate world.

The crystalline land is an extensive island located in the northern hemisphere of the planet. This portion of land hosts a large and unique ecosystem of organic and inorganic beings. Although most carbon-based beings do not exceed 20cm in height, the rest of the mineral life acts as a regulator and preserver of these species. Outside the island, in the ocean, natural life develops without interruption. It is theorized that the saltwater mass comprises 99% of the Earth's surface.

During winter, a large part of the sea freezes and the sky fills with clouds so dense that they prevent any transparency. The gigantic icy continent that rises opposite the crystalline land could be explored, but at this moment most gems are in an inactive state due to their weakness. The microscopic inclusions that provide motility and consciousness to gems function based on light energy. Therefore, in winter, on cloudy days and in dark places, efficiency tends to be attenuated. The number of gems that resist deep sleep is reduced.

It really amuses me that my monkey's age is lost media, so I'm going to keep the number to myself

>>7549

If I can, it's just that it's hard to avoid touching them

>The weight of the boxes wasn't really a problem
>But more so their contents, since some of these eyes were of an extremely fragile hardness
>Because of this, Taaffeita has had to be careful that the boxes on top don't crush the ones below, while at the same time trying to avoid moving them too much
>Worrying about such small things isn't something she's used to, and having to do it makes it somewhat difficult for her
>If she didn't have to constantly think about those fragile things, then she would be able to run easily with double the weight

>>7552

And I, Taaffeita

>I point with my extended thumb towards her face to make that clear
>People usually say their names when introducing themselves
>So Taaffeita assumes they're doing that now
>Although it's somewhat strange to do so with someone you already know

Eeh? Don't you know? Another gem is going to be born? Aren't you happy? You'll be an older sister like me!

>She stepped back slightly due to the surprise caused by Kunzita coming here without knowing that
>Then Taaffeita proceeds to explain the situation with her characteristic enthusiasm
>While doing this, Kunzita showed her something in her notebook
>To which Taaffeita proceeded to crouch down to see it better
>And as soon as she understood what it was about, she turned around and started looking around on the ground for a stick or anything similar

Eh? No, I don't think so. Is that from the other day in the infirmary? That was Tanzanita's fault, not mine, Ah! I'm done, this is you

>Once she got it, she made lines after lines on the ground
>Giving herself the luxury of casually talking about the other day's events
>And as soon as she finished with that, she proceeded to point out her drawing to Kunzita
>Which despite being a drawing of this, presented an expression that fit more with Taaffeita herself
>Since her head is incapable of not visualizing the others smiling

>>7550

I do understand it, it's the same thing we do in winter or when we break, right?

>She raises her hand with excitement as the topics of life and death are mentioned
>She has spent quite some time with the mystical Topacio, so she knows a few things about living beings
>Which is why she understands that at a certain point these also get involved in long sleeps
>Or at least that's how she understands it
>Any inorganic being that is broken or dead from her point of view is just asleep

She is just waking them up, the buds are where some insects sleep! Even they add more parts, it's like when we get repaired!

>Continuing with the things that the mystical Topacio told her and that she didn't fully understand are the buds
>The process that insects go through inside is something that reminds her of several things that the gems do
>Although while remembering that she realizes something important
>And it is that the gems need someone else to do that for them
>Something that doesn't seem possible for insects given the little space of the buds

Who fixes them then?

If you choose any mineral from those classifications or any that contains Titanium it's fine, the point is that your character will be very young, that's what it means to join halves. The sheet would be:
>Precious stone
>Appearance
>Personality

>Is this like steban universe?
In some things kek but the world is different. For example, the first line of the roll is the current time, approximately 300 thousand years in the future. You already have an idea

(Bort) Taaffeite! How is that possible?! Caterpillars and butterflies are completely different animals!

> Raw Diamond is amazed by your extensive knowledge on the topic. She neglects looking ahead and protecting them, instead focusing on the tiny bugs hovering over the flowers in Tourmaline's field. She seems unable to believe it, even though Topaz might have explained it to her once. Bort spends her days outside training with the sword and fighting—it's natural she'd forget certain aspects of organic life. Almandine seems to have had some idea about what happens with these creatures, but still shows a hint of surprise. The one who actually knows about animals is Watermelon Tourmaline up front, yet she merely smiles—it seems partly pleasing to her, the reaction of the warrior gems toward nature. When you point out the question of who repairs insects, Bort quickly shifts her gaze toward a particular gem. Andalusite handles repairing all gems who've been shattered; if anyone knows about reconstruction of living beings, it's her.
(Andalusite) Insects are disgusting.

> Andalusite doesn't bother offering an explanation, instead turning her gaze elsewhere. Once she's dismissed it, it's clear the transformation of animals remains a mystery. Maybe Topaz has precise information, but she's the type to live lost on some distant planet. Mystic might speak in words you barely understand, but she's kind—visiting her upon returning could be a good idea. For now, you can only focus on the changing ground, which shifts from living grass to blades losing their color. The atmosphere begins feeling sterile, a sign they're drawing close to the Cracks. Just like that time you collected silica with Aragonite, the red shrubs paint the earth entirely gray. In the distance, you see several white pillars still emerging, and the silhouettes of three gems—Padparadscha, Ruby, and who knows who else.

Another transition turn, the next one will be double. I'll make a list of hardnesses and ages out of whim

>The gem told her name without having to ask, what a convenience, it saved her from having to check her notes when her hands were busy.
Oh, wow.
>A birth, what an exciting thing. That explained why there were so many gems in one place and outside the academy.
Oh. Did Onix teach you to draw too?
>The truth still didn't know if it was Onix who taught her so that too was unnecessary.
But if you do it in the arena it will get erased...
>It would be a shame to lose the drawing so quickly. On paper they wouldn't last forever either but their duration was longer and she could carry them with her wherever she wanted to see them even after she had forgotten them, whereas in the earth something as small as the wind could erase them even before they returned to the academy, they would be lost faster than her memory of him. For some reason this bothered her more than it probably should.

>>7553
>Killing sounded like a unique and significant job, as well as impractical. Organic beings provided goods without having to take them by force or something like that. They coexisted with them, played with them and protected them from bubbles.
Uhum. What is this?
>She nodded to what Fluorita said. She put so much attention into what this was teaching her that when she looked down at what she was holding in her hands she was so surprised she almost dropped the eyes she was carrying for Taaffeíta.

>>7558
>The gems continued talking about organic beings. It was a lot of information that would be beneficial to note down in her notebook at another time but she was sure she wouldn't be able to when the time came that she had free hands.

Do you think I'm at Onix's level? fufufu... I understand

>Taaffeita hadn't talked much with Onix, but if she had seen several of his drawings
>So she wrongly assumes that mentioning his name was also a comparison
>Something to which she can't help but let out a conceited laugh while she looks again at her drawing
>If she was able to receive such praise just for making simple lines, then that meant she had talent for this
>The amount of talents she's finding out about today seems to have no end

Is that bad?

>She tilts her head confused at Kunzita's words
>Taaffeita hasn't had much contact with paper and therefore also doesn't know its durability
>Which is why she preferred to draw on the ground rather than in Kunzita's notebook
>Since she wouldn't even know how to use it

>>7558

I really saw it! worms are like when we're broken and butterflies are when they're fixed

>She gets even more excited with her explanation so she starts moving her arms while explaining
>She uses her left hand to represent a worm crawling
>Then uses her right to wrap it like a cocoon
>And finally opens both imitating the fluttering of a butterfly rising

Although they take a long time to do it, whoever wants to fix them doesn't reach Aragonito's level

>At first Taaffeita also had the same opinion as Bort and thought they were different species
>But Mystic Topacio convinced her to observe the different cocoons that she had found
>Taaffeita listened and started to check them whenever she could, until she finally saw one of the worms turn into a butterfly
>This discovery took her several weeks, a much longer time than it takes Aragonito to fix them
>So she gives her a smile and a compliment to let her know that she's the best

>The labels say 9, 9.5, 10. There are other eyes with specs of 9-9.5 and others of 9-10; it seems these several pairs are made so certain gems can touch them. Due to your hardness, a couple of points lower might damage your hands just by holding them. They were near the Accidents, while you wondered why they'd bring this, some got ahead. There were 3 gems there ahead; one startled for being too close to the ground. Turmaline takes care of you at Onyx's request; she stops for a second to check your state.
(Turmaline) Oh, don't worry about that. Come this way.
>She extended her hand, but even if you took it, you couldn't hold it for long; after all, she's 7.5 and you're only 7. Watermelon accompanied you to the Accidents; perhaps seeing her face you'd have noticed a certain expression of understanding when she noticed you lost. Turmaline and Watermelon aren't used to strolling around the Academy, so she doesn't usually witness your condition of forgetfulness, though she knows about it because she knows Onix to a certain extent.
>>7560
>Fluorite stays peaceful while walking; Turmaline is with Kunzite, who looks a bit lost. With your words, you manage to surprise the combat gems Almandine and Bort, who have little time to interfere with Topaz's work. Everything about living beings is interesting; you don't take it as passionately as Mystic does, but your superficial knowledge can lighten the atmosphere. Until a moment ago, Bort was being restrained by Almandine for saying inappropriate things about animals; now the two of them react respectively with excitement and a smile.
(Andalusite) What is Aragonite doing...?
>Bort nodded rapidly while you praised the others' work; unlike her, Andalusite paid attention to your words. It seems Almanducita didn't quite understand your way of exalting their work, or maybe she felt incorrectly identified with Axigonite, who also does her thing with dedication. All this was confusing; Andalusite started looking at you in a way that said do your work and keep walking.

>A figure similar to yours rises, tries to move, then falls to the ground again and again. This doesn't match the shine and shape of Ruby or Padparadscha; it's someone else. The mineral living being drags itself across the floor, moves so rigidly that you can hear the sound of the crystals making up its body. The cut of its surface is rough, as if it were a simplified form of any other gem's body; it has no luster beyond its own. The brown and yellow of its mineral composition tints its semi-transparency under the sunset sun. Between several pillars and cuts of tectonic faults, the newly born gem moves as best it can over its own mineral. There's a gem recognized by all near the newly emerged one; it's Ruby, Padparadscha's companion. Ruby is crouched in front of the weak gem and extends her hands, waiting for two more to arrive.
(Ruby) Here. Those are your hands, bring them with me. Oh, oh, don't worry! I've got you.
>The transparent, reddish gem tries to reach Ruby, but she stumbles and nearly falls to her right. The red corundum intercepts her fall, and part of the oxidized titanium composition breaks off due to the difference in hardness. Ruby has no choice but to let go to avoid causing further damage. Once again, the newly born gem crawls over the mineral of its own kind and tries to stand up; given its clumsy movements, it seems unable to distinguish everything correctly. The new gem's eyes are just empty spaces and hard cuts revealing hollow sockets. Its hair doesn't slide over its shoulders but breaks against them, as if its inclusions don't recognize themselves yet and get damaged by accident. A quartz monolith falls to the opposite side of where those two gems are; Padparadscha is to blame. Now that the gem has been born, it's as if these structures are just in the way. The pink corundum sees all of you, informs you, and then complains.
(Padparadscha) Ah, finally! It's been several minutes like this. Seriously, how long can it take?
>The first reaction is Fluorite indicating to Padparadscha about the good job done in removing dangerous elements. Then she and Andalusite approach where the newly crystallized gem is. Andalusita waves her hand to the three gems carrying eyes in their hands; it seems she needs them now. Although you didn't see how the gem emerged from the ground and recrystallized, it's not too late to see how a newly created companion is handled. Ruby gradually guides the gem to a stable place, near some red bushes where it won't get hurt.
(-) N-no... no... ma-
>Her gaze is lost; she tries to imitate the vibrations the gems make through her oral cavity, but she can't quite grasp the meaning. The gem, made of titanium oxide, finds you in her distorted field of vision; she brings her hands toward you, and they break apart on their own. Before, it seemed like a single block, but now her fingers begin to distinguish themselves; she wants to reach you too.

Did I say something wrong?

>The confusion on Taaffeita's face was so great that she wasn't sure who to look at
>She was giving multiple glances at each of the gems around her, hoping they would tell her where she went wrong
>And found only a silent scolding from Andalucita
>Taaffeita often confuses the names of the others, so occurrences like these are nothing new to her
>And precisely because she's already used to it, she was able to quickly forget about the matter and return to what she was doing
>Although maybe the fact that she lives with her head in the clouds helped with that...

!!Woooahh!! !!This is happening!! !!This is happening!!

>Taaffeita's first reaction to the new gem was the desire to run directly towards it
>But before she could take even a single step, she remembered the fact that she was carrying boxes
>Containing her emotions right now is something difficult, but she still tried to do it
>Approaching this at the most carefully fast pace that was possible for her
>And leaving the boxes a few meters away from the ones that had been here from before
>Then kneeling down and staying gawking at the new one

Does it have a name? What's its hardness? How long has it been out? Did it just say something? Can it talk already?

>Question after question came out of Taaffeita's mouth
>She didn't bother looking at any of the others while doing this
>Her eyes right now only existed to witness this moment
>And therefore she had no intention of missing a single instant of this new gem

(Imperial Topaz) Me? Heaven, I'm sure you'll remember it later. Still, it's not bad to meet again, Howli.
>Imperial Topaz was surprised for a moment by your confusion, but then corrected herself to a sympathetic expression. For Imperial, as a medical gem, it's normal to encounter these mental gaps after gem repair, so she agreed to introduce herself while bringing the Benitoite bag. Benito's head was placed on the pristine white platform, then the pieces that would become his neck, followed by his torso, legs, and arm all joined together. Gems are heavy, but it seems Imperial Topaz doesn't find it difficult to move Benito's pieces on the operating table. She began separating the smaller pieces and tried to classify the larger ones by their position on Benito's body. Almost all the pieces have certain cuts from the battle; joining these cuts will cause cracks that will have to be filled with another material. For now, Imperial Topaz leaves everything in place to start polishing and cutting step by step.
(Imperial Topaz) My hardness is 8 and my orange luster is too attractive for Pyroclasts. I tried combat, patrol, and surveillance, but the swords are so big and heavy; I prefer small tools.
>She was talking about herself while separating your companion's pieces. Then, Imperial Topaz took a nearby briefcase, lifted it onto the table, and opened it. Inside, you could see all kinds of tools for cutting and shaping gems, from small blades and spatulas to scissors, hammers, and jars with different types of liquid for polishing and varnishing. Imperial began cleaning Benito's pieces; many of them had remnants of dirt and dust from the ash. Then Topaz visualized Benito's body and thought about how to reassemble the puzzle. She took some pieces and mentally arranged them in a sea of yes and no, fit or cut. While Topaz works and you watch, another gem behind you has already finished organizing her heavy magnets. Tanzanite listened to Topaz, and she added about Pyroclasts' preference for attacking her.
(Tanzanite) They love unusual shine and colors. It's no coincidence you resisted the assault more than your partner Benitoite.
>Benito has a distinct blue color that stands out especially in orange afternoons. Even now that she's destroyed, you can see the forced terminations of her limbs glowing in that same color. Tanzanite alludes to your color as one that can pass more unnoticed, perhaps the reason lapilli threw fewer projectiles at you or missed them. Gems have the concept of shine deeply rooted in their vocabulary, so Tanzanite's intervention can be interpreted as your luster not being as beautiful as others'. You don't know if she meant to offend you or highlight your luck and characteristics. Topacio had her back turned cutting a piece of Benitoite; she turns to you to speak.
(Imperial Topaz) Howlita, I can't stop thinking we're opposite gems. Your strength doesn't stand out, but you have the talent to create weapons so large that even Padparadscha can barely move them. Even your relationship with Benito has strengthened. It's not envy or anything like that; I'm glad to be your friend.
>She returned to work with Benitoite; it seems she needed to smooth a face belonging to her broken shoulder. The camaraderie with Benito has been better developed than Topacio's with Andalucita; she tells you about those problems with some regularity. Imperial Topaz is a gem of similar age to yours; she maintains a certain trust with you, and you can recall part of it. Tanzanite steps back and takes her magnets, but before leaving through the door she gives you instructions to stay in bed. It seems she's planning something; anyway, you can't walk freely without some piece of your body getting out of place.
(Tanzanite) Howlita, don't move! I'll be back!

>The eyes of the package were marked with numbers that he normally associated with the hardness of materials, so that was the first thing he assumed they meant when he saw them. The only conclusion he could draw from this information was that it wasn't safe for her to touch them much since they exceeded her hardness by three numbers.
Ok.
>She let herself be taken by the gem whose hardness he couldn't quite grasp at the moment. It was bigger than her, she had to know what she was doing. It wasn't hard to assume it would be bigger than her, since she was the youngest of all, as she remembered.
Aragonito makes furniture, right
>Andalucita answered the question. Hearing the name of a gem spoken aloud along with the question of what its job was activated a memory in her inclusions of all the times she had read that same name along with the word Furniture in her notebook.
They make them very resistant so we don't break them. Does it also repair them?
>She knew more about the furniture he had built than the furniture the gem had rebuilt. Had other gems come to break Aragonito's furniture? She didn't see the gems very often in their work areas unless they called her there for something, like Diopsido to make paper or Onix to teach her in the library.
Oh, wow.
>In a few more steps they arrived at the accidents. Three gems were already there, one that stood out above the others as much as she could remember it no matter how much she saw it. And that was strange, because due to its unique appearance she would have thought it would be the easiest to remember, unless in reality it was the first time she was seeing it.
Can it hear us? Can it speak? Does it have a tongue?
>Taaffeíta's enthusiasm infected him, along with the need to ask questions. This was a big event that he had to know more about, and write in his notebook as soon as he had his hands free. He stepped a little closer to the unnamed gem to get a closer look at its hollow cavities. It seemed like it could hear them and emit sounds but not see them. Would it need the eyes it carried? If it had broken by falling on that combat gem, it couldn't be too hard, the eyes of hardness 9 would be too much for her. She hoped someone would tell her to lower the box so she could lift the notebook and prepare to note down the color and name of this new gem along with the description of Young that she had written in advance in the last column of her list.

>Imperial Topacio talks about how he prefers small tools

Have you ever tried with a dagger?

>On the other hand, Benitoita begins to be rebuilt
>According to Tanzanita's words, it seems that the shine is more important than it appears
>One very noticeable one can attract the attention of the pyroclasts

Say whatever you want, but I seem like a fan...fan...

>Howlita tries to remember the word "phantom"
>Will Benito subconsciously see her as the phantom of his old companion?
>Imperial Topacio compares his work with Howlita's
>But it's not envy

I also like being your friend...

>You move ahead of the others; as you near the gem, you can hear the sound of crystals striking one another more clearly, whether within its own body or against the surrounding rocks. Its body material is brown, but it grows darker with each passing minute, yet it remains clear enough to see through the new formation. Its transparency directs light to other places due to its roughly cut facets. The gem was on the ground, but then you see it attempt to rise. The joints in its limbs take shape by breaking through its own mineral. Everything about the gem is too rigid; it appears entirely like a being born from stone, even as it watches you. You naturally entered its field of vision, and it fixes its empty eyes upon yours. For a few seconds, you might see it try to approach you, but Fluorite and Andalusite move in front of it, cutting off its path. It seems to be guided by the figures that cast the largest shadows; Fluorite draws its attention for this reason. Ruby has been nearby this whole time; she rises and partially answers your questions.
(Ruby) It finished crystallizing ten minutes ago. At first it didn't move much, but now it's acting far too curious. It tries to stand up or at least move, it looks around, falls, and gets back up again—it doesn't give up.
>Given how Ruby's words are placed, you wouldn't know if she considers this aspect good or bad. Gems can reconstruct themselves, and fear or pain in animals are concepts unknown to most. You see that from the moment they are born, they place themselves in dangerous situations on their own. Ruby mentions nothing about its hardness or its name; you can only assume it doesn't know. Likewise, you find it complicated that the gem itself would present and tell you its name, basically because its words are just disconnected syllables and vague imitations of its language. Just like the rest of its body, the facets inside its oral cavity and its tongue show abrupt cuts; its attempts at communication are clumsy.

>>7569
>The sound of crystals clashing against each other's hands demonstrates a certain instability. Turmaline's hardness might be greater than yours, but the sensation is the same as when you hold Onyx so she doesn't fall asleep and break, or others. The scratches are there, made by Taaffeite and now accentuated by Turmaline, at least you didn't spill alloy liquid from her hands. The two of you advance; Turmaline looks unusually happy to lead you by the hand, just as Onyx said, an additional attachment to the younger gems. While Turmaline is strong and skilled in combat, her work has made her somewhat more delicate, not to the point of Yellow Diamond, but she pays attention to many details. The environment is sterile, with some remnants of red bushes giving an unattractive image; the beautiful flower garden is gone, but Turmaline doesn't look affected. She noticed your excitement at seeing the new gem and let go of your hand immediately; luckily you didn't pull her and rush forward or break.
(Watermelon Tourmaline) What kind of question...? Oh, right. Kunzite, give that to me, you have a job to do, right?
>Turmaline listens to you and feels puzzled. If the new gem can form syllables like "no," then it has a certain tongue that hits the upper wall of its mouth; you just had to try saying it yourself. Watermelon doesn't dwell much on your doubts; she takes your weight and leaves your hands free to draw and note everything. Turmaline also sets aside the boxes she was carrying; she understood a level beyond the hardness of that gem. Watermelon dedicates herself to watching the scene with you. It seemed like Ruby and the new gem were in some kind of game of catching each other; the detail is that Ruby's expression shows a certain concern and impatience while the other gem breaks apart on its own, exploring its arrival into life. Taaffeite leaves the boxes and approaches very quickly toward where they are; Fluorite and Andalusite also do so, but both do it cautiously. Padparadscha finished throwing one of the several pillars protruding from the ground in this place; it seems they grow back again, just like the gems that constantly emerge from here.
(Watermelon Tourmaline) She broke when touching Ruby and was able to support her mineral body on those rocks. Definitely her hardness ranges from 4 to 8.
>Turmaline confirmed that just by seeing how part of the ground was broken and damaged by the new gem's passage; for now, Watermelon takes it more calmly. She moves around where everyone is, looking for a place to leave the objects they won't use and where to sit. The unusual elevation of land near the recently broken pillar of Padparadscha is perfect.

(Almandino) All of you, step aside please.
(Bort) Yes, back! Ah- Almandino, won't we also get to see up close?
>The pair of patrol gems quickly assessed the surroundings for threats, but it wasn't necessary to put too much effort because the corindones had already everything resolved regarding the place. What was necessary was that not all the gems bulge in a point near the newly emerged, Almandino found a perfect distribution for all to observe, although that meant that she and Bort would stay behind. Fluorita is in front of the new gem, Andalucita to the left of the leader, Rubí to her right, then Taaffeíta and Turmalina with Kunzita a few steps behind. Padparadscha had no interest in seeing the spectacle, she would continue throwing the monoliths that grew too much, only after Fluorita says what she has to say. The new gem crawls, places her right arm on the ground, then the palm of her left hand, she breaks the rigid joints of her knees and approaches where Fluorita is.
(Fluorita) Welcome to our crystalline land. Here in this place, we are all loyal gems committed to our purpose of protecting this planet and its inhabitants. Let's work in peace and harmony.
(-) uu.. hu-
>Fluorita looks pleased and happy with these events, she would have said it earlier, as seeing a birth is similar to witnessing a miracle, whatever that may mean. Fluorita extends her hands as the gem approaches, finally when they collide, it can be seen as part of Fluorita disengages but doesn't fall. She returned her right hand to its original position and then focused on the mineral composition in front of her. The concentration of Fluorita lasts a second, her eyes function almost like Axinita's telescope when looking at that supernova.
(Fluorita) That's interesting. Titanium dioxide crystallized in the tetragonal system, but... this angle over the polar edge is unusual. Definitely, we haven't had you for a long time, Anatasa.
(Anatasa) no.. y-o
>Anatasa, hardness 5.5 to 6, observes naively as Fluorita gives her a name. She doesn't look entirely conscious, Andalucita would have explained how her senses are altered at birth. But regardless, Anatasa's gaze is as if she could see Fluorita's face despite not having eyes or as if she understood the meaning of her words although her inclusions took position only a few minutes ago. Anatasa reacts to what Fluorita said, but doesn't look happy only silly and in that sequence of actions without too much logic she also forms incoherent syllables difficult to hear.
(Andalucita) I've seen enough. Taaffeíta, please, bring me a pair of eyeballs of hardness 6.
>Andalucita couldn't stand seeing more damage from those two gems just for trying to get to know each other. She opened the bags she was carrying and placed several tools on the ground ordered by function, cutting capacity and sizes. The amount of things she brought with her and their specifications are a headache for any gem who understands a bit about cutting and polishing. Andalucita identified Anatasa's hardness and requested a certain pair of eyes that Taaffeíta was in charge of bringing. Fluorita lets go of Anatasa's hands, the yellow, brown and black gem just stayed still while Andalucita approached for a medical intervention.

Thanks.
>He got to work as soon as his eyes were free from fatigue. He had to wait a little longer to note the name of the new gem since they wouldn't know it until after Fluorite interacted with her. He also refrained from writing its hardness as 6 despite the approximations Turmaline had made.
Are we all like this when we are born?
>He was asking more about its appearance than its behavior. There were certain discrepancies between the new gem and all the others, like its lack of eyes, which he thought important to keep in his notebook before Andalusite took care of that. It would be difficult to draw much more than its eyes if Anatase kept moving so much, so he focused only on these parts he couldn't note later and some of the ones mentioned by Ruby, Fluorite and other gems about the event.
>There was something unusual also in the transparency of Anatase, which became more strange when he raised the hand he was writing with in front of his eyes and couldn't see perfectly through himself, there were white branches inside his arm that blocked his vision and some scratches, had he gotten hurt? Or were they signs of deterioration, like the wrinkles on paper or the problems Yellow Diamond had distinguishing reality from a dream? It was while turning these thoughts over that he understood something without having to read it again in his notes.
I'm no longer the youngest gem.
>And what did that really mean? It wouldn't change much, there would just be another gem at the academy that he would have to try to remember. If his relationship with her would be any way similar to the one he already had with Taaffeite, they probably wouldn't see each other too often.
>He stayed behind watching as Fluorite and Andalusite worked.

!!Heehh!! it's clear she's a strong gem

>Taaffeita would have tried to touch her the moment she approached
>But she's stopped by a couple much more responsible than her
>Something that doesn't bother her but does make her slightly lift the corner of her mouth at that missed opportunity
>After that she hears about her ability to not give up, a trait that at least to Taaffeita seems very notable
>If she's really a strong gem then she could accompany her on her travels and as soon as that thought crosses her mind she can't help but imagine herself as her teacher

Can I take a piece?

>Her fantasy bubble was burst the moment they forced her to step back
>Remembering at that moment that they had told her to collect a piece of the new gem
>She didn't need to observe much to realize there were several small pieces scattered on the ground given the rather unstable state she was in
>But she also didn't want to get into trouble for taking something she shouldn't, after all she had no way of knowing if she'd need that later on
>In case they let her she'd take another to keep as a souvenir

I'm going! Here you go, jeje welcome Anastasa

>She ran quickly to where she left the box and hurried to pick it up
>Once she did she realized how fragile her load was and slowed down to avoid breaking anything
>Successfully delivering what they had asked for and taking advantage of that task to get closer to the gem again
>Keeping that distance until they tell her to step back

>Imperial Topaz doesn't finish the word you're trying to say, even with the context given by Tanzanite, simply there are gems that aren't familiar with the total loss of the battle. Imperial is a young gem, apprentice to Andalusite, she tries to reform her attitude into one that would be useful to the previous gem, but that guidance isn't that of a combat gem. After all she's still an innocent gem under two hundred years old and you can confirm that by how she values your company. She's happy with your response, you're friends, but now she must work. Piece by piece Imperial cleans and shapes the pieces of Benito giving them a place in her body. After converting the larger pieces into mineral puzzle pieces, she begins to glue them all together with this special glue from residual inclusions. Topaz is careful, different from Tanzanite who left the place causing a commotion. Imperial reassembles Benitoite leaving the head for later, that would be the last part to join so that she can awaken. Just as Tanzanite said, she came back, took a while but also brought a gem with her.
(Onix) I can't believe it, Tanzanite. That there exists someone as persistent as you.
>Onix didn't have the best of all faces, she was dragged by Tanzanite and her whirlwind of twisted and unstoppable actions. Seeing Onix at such a late hour is something strange, during this season she should be sleeping for a long of 16 or 18 hours. Part of you might relate this event to the seismic movement during the battle. In any case, Tanzanite brought Onix here to do library work. Tanzanite planned for you to describe the piroclasts in a detailed way and it didn't matter if certain details were omitted, Tanzanite had reference sketches for you to compare with your memories. Onix would just have to condense everything into an image that portrays the way the scoria restructures itself, the exaggerated amount of weaponry of the lapillis and the entire formation of the unit. Tanzanite brought a huge pile of piroclast sketches, it seems she wouldn't leave you two alone until she gets the most accurate illustration. After all, Tanzanite can't see them by herself, it causes her a sense of guilt.
(Axinita) So the scoria, I mean the piroclast, took out its eyes and looked for them, then communicated with its comrades and they made a joint attack. This... they don't behave in such an intelligent way, truly unusual.
>A while passed, Topaz was repairing Benito, Onix almost fell and broke you from sleep, Tanzanite looked happy with the image sketch she captured. But another gem would also join this room, Axinita finished her various works and came here to visit you. However, she would find the scene of Tanzanite and the overwhelming information gathering. Axinita, being the gem in charge of making reports, couldn't stand to ask you also about the details of the encounter. She tries to remember certain writings from centuries ago where the piroclasts did something similar or close. Behind you you hear the sound of crystals colliding, but these didn't break or fracture, they just touched abruptly for less than a second and then found their place.
(Benitoite) Howlita...
>Imperial Topaz placed the head of Benito in its place and she awoke immediately. When Benitoite found you in her line of sight, she recognized you not as her old companion but as yourself. You couldn't ignore the giant crack from her shoulder to her stomach that she has, her memories are fuzzy, yet she did the above.

We leave it here with Howlita, the next turn will be with timeskip. I'll detail more later after responding to the other two blacks

>Anatasa shines like a poorly cut gem, a poor attempt at resembling you, the perfectly polished gems. Although nothing tells you that the form she currently has isn't adequate, maybe she's breaking apart piece by piece but she can still move, think. The original appearance of the gems is like that, rocks with flat faces and an appearance of rough cuts. Maybe your inclusions have already gotten used to having the appearance you currently have or maybe they pushed you to have it from the beginning. Anatasa's eyes are empty, she definitely has vision problems, probably this detail is decisive for solving this dilemma. For now she will just continue crawling across the ground looking for the biggest figure and coincidentally it's the same one that gives her concrete words.
(Turmalina) Not all. You used to stay on the ground for several seconds longer. Your shine didn't decide between white or pink, it was cute, it is now too.
>Turmalina answers your question, but she takes her answer as a short joke. Sandía refers more to the theme of her behavior than her appearance. Anyway she makes the last comment highlighting your brilliant existence, she was present at the moment it started.

>>7575
>The new gem approached you, she wanted to place her hands on yours just like she did with Ruby. Your hardness is just a minor point compared to Ruby's, you don't know if the new companion will also have delicacy. Although this might be exciting, having the shadow of Fluorite and Andalucite cover them was the best thing. The gem ended up diverting and you also had to make space forcibly. Ruby told you certain details before her encounter, she emphasized her value for staying active. Padparadscha was nearby while Bort and Almandino kept them away, they didn't have to convince her too much to leave there. Padparadscha heard your assertion, she bent down and took one of the silica pillars, picked it up without effort.
(Padparadscha) Strong? Another sad 5 or 6.
>It only took her to be born for Anatasa to be underestimated by Padparadscha. Ruby turns her head toward where her companion is with the intention of saying something, but she was already turning her back collecting more monoliths for the return to the Academy. Whether for whatever Ruby intervenes, she couldn't change Pads' view, after all she is a gem dedicated 100% to combat. Gems of hardness 6 barely qualify as fighters, and if they want to stand out it must be through strategy, not through strength.

>Fluorite let go of Anatase. Andalucite intervened directly to perform her medical procedure. Anatase still looked lost, but it seems what Fluorite said sank into part of her mineral composition; she stopped trying to reach the others. Andalucite reorganized her tools with impatience, and in a sidelong glance she could see Taaffeite return with the pair of eyes she had requested. She would ask why she didn't have the ordered box on hand, but Andalucite had to correct the newcomer while she offered no resistance. Taaffeite stayed very close to watch how she did things. Andalucite answered one of her questions; it seemed the 50–80-year-old gem had something planned.
(Andalucite) Eh.. Do as you wish. But if you're going to do that, I also need help polishing and smoothing its edges. Topaz isn't here.
>Andalucite took a cloth and handed it to Taaffeite. For now, she would have a few minutes to do what she had to do; later, in return, she would help again—it was a spiral of needs. Andalucite approached Anatase and made the first contact. She took her right arm; Andalucite didn't need to be too delicate thanks to the gloves she was wearing. The medical gem studied the joint of her elbow, then used it as a lever, noticing the irregularities between the faces of her mineral and began to repair them. Andalucite started her work: she chose a tool, turned toward Anatase, did what she had to do, then took another, not before putting the previous one back in its place. The motor conditioning for Anatase was efficient; now it was time to prepare everything to place her eyes. Andalucite passed a spatula inside Anatase's eye cavity, gave it a couple of turns, and corrected the work with a very fine blade. She held Anatase's head with one hand and with the other quickly placed her two eyes in the corresponding spots.
(Andalucite) Stay still… Done!
(Anatase) A-aah!
>Anatasa must quickly close her eyelids to assimilate the object placed on her face. At first the eyeballs also seemed empty, but once Anatasa finishes accepting them on her face, her retinas fill with the titanium dioxide material. Anatasa's new eyes shine in their first use, but her retinas have marked imperfections. Apparently Andalucita should also correct them using the knife again. But before she touches Anatasa's eyes with her tool, the last gem starts to move. Anatasa now possesses a sharpened sense; she shows greater expressiveness, looks totally curious. Anatasa pushes Andalucita aside to observe everyone and her surroundings; she understands nothing but looks amazed.
(Bort) Hey, she seems to have much more energy than before!
(Ruby) Careful-
>Anatasa tried to get up again, just like in her first minutes of existence. Andalucita had to stop her because the intervention wasn't finished yet. For a few seconds there was a certain struggle that the medical gem couldn't control. The patrol gems looked surprised by Anatasa's actions; it seemed she had courage. Anyway, Andalucita couldn't allow her to hurt herself more or keep messing up her work environment. Andalucita left Anatasa on the ground and used a large knife that looked very sharp; she drew a shape on Anatasa's chest and then, with the hammer, removed a part of her body.
(Andalucita) There was no other choice; we'll reform her at the Academy. Fluorite?
>The sun already seems to be setting; Fluorite was present at the scene, she nods to Andalucita. It's time to leave; you can't work with a gem that doesn't want to be repaired. Andalucita called Taaffeite for a moment and gave her the cylinder she removed from Anatasa's chest; she had to take it to the medical area. Gems like Almandine, Bort, and Ruby would take care of placing Anatasa in a large cloth bag and carrying her to the Academy. The deactivated gem, in a state of suspension, was now like an object; it just needs to rest on a smooth platform inside the Academy. Other gems like Tourmaline and Kunzite had already contributed too much energy; they must return too. Padparadscha follows the group a few steps behind, carrying at least five silica pillars on her shoulders.

>But before that she needed to find some pieces worth taking
>There are quite a few pieces of Anastasa around here and there, each presenting a different shape and fracture, making some more beautiful than others
>Taaffeita would like to have more time to decide which ones to take

>And right after that she wraps them in the scarf, then helps Andalucita with whatever she needs

>Being a witness to such things was certainly exciting
>So much so that she started shaking her hands back and forth to see how Anastasa tried to follow her with her eyes

>I didn't ask with the intention of learning more about her behavior at birth but in retrospect it would have been a good idea to do so, it was interesting what she learned by listening to Turmanila, things she wouldn't have been able to know any other way, nor because she would have had a better memory.
Yes, Anatasa is very bright.
>In contrast she didn't feel very bright at that exact moment. Maybe she needed to bathe to polish herself.
Young gems are so cute.
>She crouched down to see better the shine of Anatasa when they had her closer.

It sounded like what a older gem would say, didn't it?
>Because it was something she had heard from another gem and forgotten. Although it wasn't exactly what Taaffeíta referred to when she turned to her, she thought that way, and it amused her to have spoken of Anatasa as a cute and young gem when she herself was less than a century old.
>Perhaps someday she would truly be a mature gem, like the ones she admired, and could teach a younger one to draw or take care of winter, just like the old Kunzita. She would need to improve in some aspects to reach that.
>She looked at her open hand and the lithium branches deeper inside, closed it to reaffirm that everything was in order and turned the pages to look for something she had just remembered. It was a good time to do so since there were so many gems gathered and they were returning to the academy.
Yellow Diamond dreamed about me, but it wasn't me. It also dreamed about itself, but it wasn't her, and there were flowers in the sky...
>She stopped reciting it from memory and started reading it with the words of Diamond once she found the page she was looking for. (((>>7512)))
>If she read the dream to all of them at once she wouldn't have to remember later who had already heard it and who hadn't, and she would avoid the harsh refusals of the gems less interested in listening to something like that, as she thought could be the case with Padparadscha.

>Anatase is now asleep; Andalucita really has no mercy when it comes to doing her job. The new gem seems to be quite active, its matrix was bright and its faces partially transparent. The dark brownish color she has comes from her oxide nature, and part of her luster also reflects in yellow. Anatase is now being carried by the combat gems, however Andalucita gave Taaffeite a piece of her—the part she removed to deactivate her. Taaffeite must use another piece of thicker and longer cloth to carry this burden; Anatase is a couple of hardness levels lower. Ahead are Fluorite and Andalucita, then Ruby, Almandine, and Bort. Tourmaline accompanies you two; the only one behind is Padparadscha. Fluorite didn't bother bringing an escort; it seems night was coming and no more pyroclasts would appear during that period.
(Watermelon Tourmaline) You two are already bragging about your age. Hee, who are you trying to imitate?
>Tourmaline placed one hand on Taaffeite's head and the other on Kunzite; she was joking with a smile. Tourmaline watched them exchanging comments about their years of existence and couldn't help but intervene. Sandía's touch is soft; she is delicate and overly careful. Still, when she removes her hands, the right palm has certain scratches from contact with Taaffeite. The whole group was advancing on the return path; now Ruby offered to carry the eye boxes, so there would be no problem just moving forward. Ruby offers to help in multiple aspects; Padparadscha wouldn't be very different either, without saying absolutely anything she would be carrying something useful.
(Watermelon Tourmaline) It's a very large piece; if it comes from her chest, it must have very important inclusions. Aragonite would say it's her heart.
>Tourmaline is the gem closest to Taaffeite and her crystal cylinder, taking Kunzite into account. She notes the impressive nature of this figure, how its edges are cut perfectly. Surely, if placed in its spot, it wouldn't generate any cracks or empty space. Tourmaline thinks of Aragonite and his usual manipulation words. Despite its hardness, that gem is suitable for many different tasks and also has some knowledge about organic beings. Tourmaline doesn't oppose the comparison between animal beings and mineral life; rather, she finds it interesting. When Kunzite extends her arm for herself, observing her metallic terminations, she might notice how the ramifications increased but their volume decreased. Anyway, the pink gem takes the opportunity to relate a dream of a nearby gem.
(Fluorite) From the sky, huh?... Kunzite, that was a very interesting story. Yellow Diamond has such exotic and extravagant dreams; it's a pity she forgets them so regularly.
>Fluorite highlights Yellow Diamond's imaginative ability; no one would know if it stemmed from her long-lived existence and corresponding experience or the recent failures she's been accumulating over the last centuries. The diamond would be sleeping right now, perhaps starting another dream just as impressive. The other gems also make certain comments about what Kunzite told them.
(Bort) Did Yellow Diamond see that in the sky? It's strange, but I love the idea! When did it happen? I missed it!
(Almandine) It's a very complex dream; there are so many details, but I'm not sure I understood them all.
>Raw Diamond gets lost in the facts; she'd think it's a real story. Almandine knows it's a dream, but she doesn't fully understand it. Ruby got interested in the multiple Kunzites and Yellow Diamonds; she asked for different perspectives. Andalusite says the sky flowers are surreal and that something like that couldn't exist, besides highlighting the ambiguity of the environments. Tourmaline asks for details about the plants in the dream, and finally, Padparadscha just confirms that the Diamond has gone mad. It seems most dreams are just simple memories or directly empty until waking up; it would be the same for you two.
(Ruby) Is this some kind of metal?
>As they returned to the Academy, many noticed something along the way. Ruby was the first to crouch down and try to touch the metal remnants on the ground. They were small solid puddles of Aluminum with a volume less than a drop. When someone lifted these alloy pieces, the material could stay solid for 10 or 20 seconds before finally changing phase and starting to slip between fingers. Kunzite is the only gem who, upon contact with the mineral trail, instantly converts the alloy to its liquid phase. Andalusite set her eyes on the recently second-youngest gem; she'd need to dissect, cut, and so on. They couldn't do anything until reaching the Academy, but once everyone entered the medical area, it felt very crowded. Benitoite and Howlite had participated in a fight and were injured; Andalusite and Topaz must repair them and then complete Anatasa. Once all that was ready, they'd probably cut Kunzite too and fix her dripping problem. Taaffeite wasn't escaping the favor she owed Andalusite; she had the task of polishing an infinite number of gem pieces, a simple and repetitive job. Imperial Topaz felt some guilt for not being able to handle all those tasks at once, so she promised everyone a special polish, and that's what happened.

>The southern isolated island is a region of the crystalline land with a poor presence of vegetation, it is mostly a surface of rock with certain gravel predominant in its coasts. It is not a great pastureland like the one near the Academy, but still stands out a central area of grass, seems like it is a flat remnant of a geological fold with volcanic and sedimentary material. Some different species of animals live in the center of the island, seems like it is an environmental distinction. Topacio comes here to study them occasionally, fortunately she is not here now. Aragonito rang the bell not less than a minute ago, you could hear the three strikes that mark the rotational hour of the patrol groups. You and Alexandrita should go towards the southwest unless they are stuck in a fight. A little while ago a shadow appeared on the coast of crushed material, it was not very big but had a distinctive double circle, definitely it is a powerful unit. Two ashes and three lapillis rose from inside the earth. Alexandrita kept the silence until finally the alarm sounded, she came out with you, her weapon facing forward.
(Alexandrita) Taaffeíta, dodge and block with your sword. We were practicing this, right? This is nothing!
>She reminds you, during the last weeks, during the last month, you were practicing to eliminate weaknesses. Howlita developed a weapon for her training and used it to break arrows against her mineral composition. But this time they are not arrows of breakable manufacturing, but rather ones of a pyroclastic assault. The three lapillis split in half their bodies and from inside they pulled out several arrows to launch. They are obsidian projectiles, none of them have any distinctive gem as arrowhead, they will attack only with a hardness 6. Although it had Diamond at the tips, Alexandrita was sure they could overcome it. They just had to advance and resist until they met the ashes who would attack first.
(Alexandrita) It's fair! One comes for each one.
>The ashes come from front and at speed, they must finish them with one strike to be able to maneuver the block of the arrows. If they end the ashes being intact, the lapillis will not have an opportunity and probably would be a confrontation that ends with you two unharmed. Although the pair of diamonds comes from the east right now, they will not have a little action. Howlita and Benitoíta will take much longer to arrive, they would have to go to the east and then follow towards the south, for them the call of the bell is unnecessary.

>Autumn day 12. It's one in the afternoon, an hour ago a piroclast unit appeared heading south. There was some commotion, the bell rang three times and the patrol gems went to deal with the problem. You don't know much about the current situation of those gems, just that they're fine. Onix continued with her classes in the library despite the bell. Ignoring the general situation of the patrol gems is something Onix has done a lot, curiously Diopsido also shares this characteristic. For 30 minutes Onix explained to you about the snow and glacial winters of the east, west and north. Onix could go on for a long time now that it's autumn. Onix's condition has improved and she can afford to stay awake for several hours past noon. At her time, Axinita approached to talk to Onix, it seems she had to do something. Given the confrontation an hour ago, it's time for grace, Onix allowed you to take a break. Going down the stairs was less difficult than you remembered, once being on the first floor you found a figure you hadn't seen recently. Crisocola spent three weeks in the depths of the sea, she missed the birth of Anatasa. When she found out she seemed very affected, especially because she couldn't interact with Anatasa yet, Fluorita teaches her language, mathematics, chemistry, physics, mineralogy and history. Crisocola returned to the water for another 5 days.
(Crisocola) Kunzita, Kunzita, Kunzita! How do you do that? Heaven, now you have an alloy running through your body! I never thought it would be something so impressive, I want to see more. Can I?
>Crisocola was excited, she offered to take your notebook just to see your hands in more detail. Your right and left hands were the first thing she noticed when you came down. It's not a coincidence because part of them shine in a metallic way and drops of alloy threaten to fall. The dripping of the lithium and aluminum alloy happened at dusk and night, Diopsido had no other option but to keep you standing on a container until it stopped dripping. You did it several nights before sleeping, but there came a moment when the dripping stopped, in its place began to form certain figures that adhered to you. Large drops of aluminum and lithium form small metal heads on your hands. The appearance of the drops is similar to yours, although some of the figures were simple others had details that definitely resemble your hair and face. The metallic drops don't measure more than two centimeters, you can make them flow or retract them at will. Although sometimes they are generated when you don't want them, it's better than letting material spread throughout the Academy. Crisocola is wet as always, her drops don't resemble herself, she is extremely amazed, she observes intently.
(Crisocola) When Diopsido does it she gets lit up and destroys herself, it's very dangerous. But with you that doesn't happen, I wonder why that is.
>She withdraws her approach, then comments to you about the metal that Diopsido keeps. Magnesium is reactive and Diopsido isn't a gem that uses this material too much, she only makes paper. As for you, you don't have the metal distributed throughout your body, only in your lower extremities and in your chest. The alloy always moved towards this center decreasing the volume of all the related conduits, apparently adding more quantity wasn't a problem. Andalucita no longer intervenes much, despite the alloy being at 1% lithium, it's thanks to Diopsido who helped you dry. Crisocola showed a moment of thoughtfulness, but regained her energy in seconds.
(Crisocola) Hey, I also have something to show you. Would you come with me?

>Benitoite opened her eyes; she tried to get up, but part of her right arm was still incomplete. After stumbling, she noticed it and stopped. Topaz warned her a second later that she was only halfway through reconstruction. Benito's eyes look fine from afar, but the truth is part of her right eye broke when she fell to the ground. Topaz will now have to remove the original material from her iris and reattach it to another sphere matching its hardness. But beyond that, Benitoite is fine, if you ignore the possible memory issues she now has. She saw you and called out, as if she recognized you instantly, but you would soon realize. Benito's gaze doesn't focus on you; you were only halfway between her and Onix. She has white hair like yours, only harder and with a very different purpose.
(Onix) Hey, wait, I didn't...
>Onix stopped being on her back; she would correct Benito's mistake, but once the blue gem saw her face-to-face, it wasn't necessary. It's a difficult scene to read, both for Benitoite and for you; both have broken pieces still not fitted. Eventually, Topaz would finish assembling Benito as far as she could. Alexandrite and Heliodor arrived with the pieces they collected from the fight; there weren't many. When Andalucita appeared in the medical area, she would have to decide to cut part of her hair to fill the gaps between her cracks. Yours were just two centimeters, while Benito's were 5 or 6. Andalucita arrived here with another gem that no one would recognize, and it's not about memory gaps; they truly don't know her. The gem that arrived still looked rough, with poorly cut faces, like a rock freshly extracted. Fluorite told you her name: Anatasa. They had to put her to sleep so Andalucita could modify her for perfect functionality and appearance. There was a lot of work in the medical area; Andalucita and Topaz had a lot to do. Eventually, the latter would begin cleaning and glazing her surface. Howlite was missing some layers of her body, just like Benitoite. Taaffeite, Kunzite, Tourmaline, Fluorite, and Ruby got scratched for acting carelessly; Imperial Topaz also fixed them.
>Autumn day 12. Fluorite canceled her patrols for a few days; only after a week would they go out in groups again, Benito and you. But during that time, the season had already changed. Part of the crystalline earth turned orange and brown, while another part kept its original look. It's around one in the afternoon; just an hour ago, Benito and you had to circle the island after a clash between gems and exploration pyroclasts. It's grace time; after not fighting at all, Fluorite announced you could do your work without fear. Benito briefly said goodbye to you; she continued working on that impact fabric. It seems that after the attack two weeks ago, she had forgotten her progress and felt somewhat frustrated by it. When you arrived at the armory, everything was in place; some gems had broken their swords in the previous days. Raw Diamond and Green were still as tough as ever. During this time, you only cut obsidian layers and gave them the precise shape. When it came time to join the parts and sharpen everything, you heard the sound of the door opening. A figure suddenly burst into your workspace; curiously, it wasn't someone you recognized at once.
(Anatase) Hey! What's this? What are you?
>Apparently, she was referring to both the armory and your identity and work. She isn't specific and now she's just curious. The small gem that burst into your area is Anatase; she was born on the same day as your most dangerous confrontation to date. It's been two weeks, and Fluorite has already taught her to speak and express herself correctly. Although part of gem communication and understanding lies in their inclusions, it's still an achievement. Despite her energetic and active appearance, she could be very intelligent. The black of her hair shines in brownish tones; there are certain areas where you can also see strands of yellow, though they are hidden from view. Her bright eyes keep total attention on you, but only for a few seconds; then she would be looking around the place, gazing everywhere with her mouth half-open.
(Ruby) Anatase, there you are. Don't run off like that.
>In the opposite direction from where Anatase came, Ruby appears. She's wearing a different outfit than usual; it seems Benitoite has been having fun with the designs, both for Ruby and Anatase. The two were together; according to Ruby, the younger one had just separated. Anatase just stares with wide eyes while Ruby speaks to her.
(Ruby) Sorry to interrupt, Howlita. She's been escaping her lessons lately.
(Anatase) Ah! She's pretty.
>Anatase took short, very fast steps; she approached where the reserve weapons were. There are both standard models and prototypes of other tools, weapons that weren't effective and Padparadscha's ridiculous requests. Anatase tries to take one of the weapons, but she doesn't have enough strength to lift it; she only tries to drag it.

Hmm.
>She thought she remembered who she was imitating with what she had said before, but kept it to herself, not entirely sure if it was that one, or how old they might be. Yesterday all the gems were older than her; it would be the same imitating one or the other, she would still be pretending to be older than she really was. And wasn't that what she would have to do when it came time to deal with a truly younger gem, like Anatasa? She would take it as a game, and practice for the future.
Shall we practice for when we're older?
>Maybe she could practice or play at this later with Taaffeite in the future, now that they had something in common.
I think she dreamed it today or yesterday. Maybe the other Diamond was a reflection? Or a drawing? Diamond said they looked like flowers she had never seen before.
>She tried to respond to something each one had commented on about the dream, though she herself knew no more than what she had told them about the notebook, and she supposed Yellow Diamond wouldn't have clarified or even remembered much about the dream if she was saving her questions to ask later.
>Through the opinions and reactions of the gems she didn't discover if the dream had been a good one for Diamond, but she understood a bit more about the nature of them, and that perhaps hers were not as fantastic as the oldest gem's, since only Bort saw it as something so normal that she herself could have dreamed it, even while awake.
Oh.
>The appearance of the metal and the effects it had on her body when both came into contact told her it was related to something inside her and something inside her notebook.
It's just 0.25%
>She tried to answer in a rush, without context and without having finished finding it on the paper, fearing Andalucita's reaction would be worse if she took too long to say it.
They're doing very well. Keep it up.
>She continued to emotionally support the gems who would have to work hard in the medical area that day. It didn't bother her to stay with them even after she was treated; if they asked for silence she could just draw something or someone.

>>7584
>The bell only distracted her for the first two tolls; since the gems around her didn't react, she did the same and continued attending to her lesson, pencil in hand, writing down short and easy words to remember that she could associate with the important parts of winter so she wouldn't waste so much time reading long passages that might not be the ones she needed for each situation.
>She said goodbye with a "see you soon" to the gems in the library and looked for something to do outside of it. The lessons being longer made her feel that winter was coming winter is coming, and the things Onix taught her about it now that she had more time to do so made her look forward to it even more. There would be many things to draw and write to tell other gems about later, like
Chrysocolla.
>She responded upon seeing her, instead of clarifying that, in fact, it was Kunzita. Her blue hair, work, hat, and description were very unique and made her an easy gem to identify.
Yes, it's safe.
>She tried to manipulate the alloy as Chrysocolla asked. She preferred to retract it rather than let it flow, since she was still worried about spilling it around the Academy.
Why is your alloy made of a different metal? I don't know either.
>She made a guess; she wasn't an expert on the subject either, and as the youngest and most forgetful of the gems, she was used to asking questions rather than making statements.
>Was it strange for Kunzitas to drip who weren't Kunzita? If she went by the definition of strange, yes, since the norm was only to drip foreign liquids that didn't react the same way, like Chrysocolla at that moment. She worried it might also be dripping onto her notebook and asked for it back when the demonstration ended.
>Maybe it would be better to see it not as something strange but as something unique to Kunzita; that sounded more positive. The negative strange would be something like Diopside's sparks, her own memory loss, or Uranocircite's radioactivity.
Yes, I want to see.
>She accepted the invitation and went wherever Chrysocolla wanted to take her, thinking about the other gem on the way whom she didn't see very often, and according to the day's notes from when so many gems gathered to witness Anatasa's birth, she hadn't seen her then either. Hadn't they even remembered to tell her that a new gem had been born? Even if it was such a unique and special event? It was sad to think about; she hoped she had just been slower to show up or had done so from a safe distance to avoid causing trouble.

I've been having technical issues. I'll try not to leave so many days between posts.

If I wrote any nonsense, it's because I was sleepy
>Your two hands are together and extended with palms facing up; Crisocola has eyes only for the small army of metallic figures sprouting from your hands. The small droplets shaped like Kunzitas lack vital details, like any expression or a shine beyond the metallic. Still, Crisocola is totally excited and fascinated by your brief presentation. She held your notebook while inspecting with her gaze the peculiar shapes the alloy had.
(Crisocola) It's impressive! You are truly incredible, Kunzita.
>She shines with wonder. When the time comes, you share your assumptions about the metals, but it seems she understands little of the difference between the elemental metals. Finally, Crisocola has only amazed eyes for your action, so she also ignores the fact that water droplets slide down her arm to her hands and then to your notebook. It wasn't her intention, but when returning the notebook, it shows moisture marks over the cover. The inside is softer and can get wet easily; it was luck she didn't touch that area. The alloy in your hands retracts slowly; the Kunzita heads dissolve in seconds. Unlike water, the alloy doesn't soak into the paper, as if it were impermeable to your mini ability.
(Crisocola) I've been in the sea for a long time this time. I would have liked to see the birth of Anatasa, but in exchange for missing it, I could find this. Tell me, isn't it wonderful!
>There are some wooden boxes, rolls of cloth, tools, stakes, but what Crisocola wants to show you rests on a basket. Dozens of crustacean shells, sea creatures with defensive exoskeletons not permanently attached during their life cycle. There is a variety of shapes and also a notable quantity.
(Crisocola) Ah, you forgot it. Hehe, don't worry.
>At first glance, it would be hard to know why she wanted to show you this; besides the shape, there is nothing in these objects that really stands out. According to Crisocola's declaration, she would have explained it to you before. Crisocola has no problem repeating it again.
(Crisocola) Sea creatures evolved to assimilate inclusions into their biology. They're almost like us; they retain a large mineral portion. Some attach to rock surfaces, others eat them and generate shells.
>She told you about the sea creatures; curiously, they aren't far from the southern platform where the ocean can be seen. Crisocola's tools were halfway between the southern coast and the academy. Unlike the different zones on the crystalline land, the south isn't that big. The view of the academy is somewhat indistinct, but you can still distinguish the glow of gems being worked outside the place, giving you a sense of proximity. The atmosphere is constantly muddy, though a patch of grass connected to the academy stands out. Crisocola rummages through the objects she collected.
(Crisocola) Look, these are made of Kyanite material; I'm sure of it. And here, it seems I lost part of myself, and they took the opportunity to assimilate me.
>She polished a part of the shell and showed you some growing lines of sky-blue color; they were bright. Then she did the same with another shell, revealing lines of deep blue. It was the same material as Crisocola. Imagining little crabs eating her is funny, but something tells you it's not entirely realistic.
(Crisocola) I can't blame them; my shine is exceptional. Besides, they save me a lot of work; they just need to fulfill a certain life cycle, and that's it.
>She feels proud of her color and shine and has no qualms about letting you know from time to time. Crisocola mentions how crabs shed their shells, and since she's looking for a gem in the sea, it's actually a good thing that crustaceans eat parts of her former companion. Waiting ten, twenty, or thirty years for a gem isn't much; their lives are infinite, perhaps yours too, given that it forms a very large fraction of your existence. Crisocola picks up two sea snails from the varied group of shells. She asks a question before telling you her plans for today.
(Crisocola) Only a couple of them are really useful; I took the rest because they're pretty. Don't you think so too? Soon I'll go with Andalusite to separate carbonates from nesosilicates.

Don't worry, black, it just struck me as curious that the days when you're least active are the ones I have the most free time to roleplay.
Late night turn. No roleplay tomorrow.

>It was good that Chrysocolla admired his manipulation of the alloy in that way, making him feel more unique than strange. Although he didn't see a practical use for the Kunzite-shaped drops. What could something like that be useful for? He thought about trying to manipulate the drops to create a shape different from his own, perhaps imitating Chrysocolla's face or an object nearby, but the concern of retrieving his notebook before it got wet stopped him from turning these thoughts into actions.
>The notebook remained mostly intact; they would have to wait for the sun's rays to speed up the drying process.
Oh. Did you bring all this from the sea?
>He was amazed just by seeing the number of shells Chrysocolla had to carry to the academy, before hearing the explanation or noticing that some of them shone with her own color. He nodded when she highlighted it herself; he had already thought before that her blue glow was something unique, distinctive.
You're closer to repairing Kyanite now, that's great.
>The idea that there was an organic being capable of eating Diamonds was somewhat impressive, and that they had helped Chrysocolla gather the remains of her friend was even more so.
>He felt a bit strange thinking about that last part. It reminded him of old conversations with Chrysocolla, about seeing through gems and deciding what they wanted to do. Wouldn't she be expecting at that moment that what he wanted to do was go down to the sea to be free with her and help her collect Kyanite's pieces? It must be hard to be the only one looking for them; honestly, he would have been interested in accompanying her. Chrysocolla, as a gem, was one of the ones he liked the most, and saw the least.
Yes, they are very pretty. Taaffeite or Yellow Diamond would like them.
>He forgot the past topic to remember the two gems who were interested in collecting crystals, gem fragments, and other shiny objects.
Do you need help carrying this? I'll help you.
>He supposed the plans she spoke of involved the shells, perhaps just because she was still interested in them, and offered his help. If not, he would accompany her anyway; Andalusite couldn't be far from the academy, and it would be less likely to get lost if he stayed where the largest concentration of gems was.

>The yellow glow of Anatasa's eyes stands out over the rest of her mineral composition, and it also stands out over the atmosphere. Obsidian is dark and almost all the materials in your area are dark, the intervention of other gems gives it a vital contrast. Anatasa approached where all the weapons were, she took one of standard size and began to drag it. At first Anatasa highlighted the beauty of the objects, it seems the vitreous luster of the obsidian attracts her. Then, when she finally realized they were your weapons, she tried to lift it. Her attempts were several and by the time she could hold it a little.
(Anatasa) Jolita! How come not?
>Anatasa lifted the weapon halfway, she had sought the way to do it despite not controlling her strength and it is minimal. She showed pride in this achievement until she got tired of holding it and finally the sword was driven half a centimeter into the ground. Naturally, as her temporary mentor, Ruby had to return it to just seeing this place, not touching anything else. Nonetheless you could hear a short comment from her, it seems Anatasa had some talent. Her hardness is only 6 and her age is two weeks, but with that against her Anatasa found the way to correctly grip the sword.
(Ruby) Everything in its place. You're doing a good job, Howlita.
>Ruby returned the weapon and now Anatasa remained a step behind the corundum. Ruby, after observing the amount of the weapons and the fine detail with which each one was made, makes a comment in support of your work. Ruby has always been a very considerate gem, much superior to her companion, and from her perspective perhaps you were overexerting yourself. When she saw the weapons of extravagant design in a corner she remembered something.
(Ruby) Padparadscha doesn't say it, but she is very grateful for how you solve her orders.
>It's the closest to a thank you you can get from the pink corundum. Ruby is her companion and has been with her for centuries, she is the one to go to when it comes to getting an approximate to the thoughts or opinions of Padparadscha. Ruby also doesn't forget to thank you for your standard creations, apparently you do a lot for the crystalline earth.
(Ruby) The quality of your weapons is surprising. You developed your technique from scratch, right? I would like to learn from you someday.
>She showed interest, of course right now she is in charge of Anatasa and that is impossible. The very Anatasa who was listening remained with a puzzled expression, could a gem of a millennium know less than another of a century. If it is in weapons, then she is correct. Anatasa pulled on Ruby's clothes from behind, she was trying to get her attention.
(Anatasa) Oh, oh, teacher! I remember now! Thirteen shakes, an impact and… a centrigation?
(Ruby) Correct, almost. Did Fluorita talk to you about it so soon?
>Anatasa nodded vigorously, although by her expression and the way she mentioned the events it seems she didn't fully understand the meaning. Fluorita spoke to Anatasa about the origin of this world, after all it is general knowledge that gems are beings that have evolved too quickly, as if they had been assisted. A series of events changed the planet completely, from fifteen world shakes, then three impacts of huge meteorites, a transfiguration of life and finally a great centrigation. Fluorita is never too detailed about the meaning of the events or their context, she only refers to the basic concepts of changes. There aren't many gems that understand the history of such ancient times. Although Ruby explains in summary, Anatasa also doesn't seem to be one of the gems that understand.

>All things from Chrysocolla have some water on top, it seems dangerous to your notebook's integrity to get close. Even in the baskets where the sea shells are, there are small puddles of water settling in the carbonate depressions. The view looks like that of many living beings, due to their different shapes signifying various species; you wouldn't be surprised to see a crab escape quickly from there. Chrysocolla showed a face full of complete illusion when you told her if they seemed cute or interesting at least. Like a gem of the sea, those who are interested in this have several points of esteem on their part; it's not something you haven't experienced before. As Chrysocolla is usually so lively and spreads some of her joy. She exclaims highlighting your kindness, then prepares everything to return to the Academy.
(Crysocolla) Kunzite!! You're so good. Since you'll help me, later you can keep some shells. Give them as a gift to one, or both, do you also want one for yourself?
>She rummaged through the variety of shapes and sizes, set aside those with important mineral composition and chose the best as a reward. There were many; it could take a while to choose which ones. While carrying some of her things already dry back, she told you a bit about how Andalusia takes care of recomposing Kyanite. It seems she must cut with master precision between the veins of the shell; despite her skill, a large part is lost as dust or intertwined remains. She does her best, that's Chrysocolla's opinion; she couldn't be more satisfied with the work of the gem that recomposes other gems. When they arrived at the Academy, they called Andalusia, who was just about to enter the operating room.
(Andalusia) I'm too busy to cut kyanite. You can leave it in the inactive room and... mm... I forgot something.
>She won't separate the minerals, but that can be left for later. The place they are in is before entering the operating room, like a triple-door reception with walls and another window on the left; after that, there is nothing else. Andalucita carries some tools in her left hand and also holds a jar of gem glue pressed against her body because it is so large. Crisocola shines, waiting for Andalucita's response; the three of you are carrying the three shells, two of cyanite and the other of crisolite.
(Andalucita) Ah, you can't go; right now there is a gem-
(Imperial Topaz) "Andalucita, are you there? She has already woken up!"
>Topaz intervenes from inside the operating room; it seems a gem from the battle a while ago has been reconstructed. Andalucita has to attend to this urgent matter, so she apologizes before turning around and showing the upper part of her body to assess the situation. When you turn to look at Crisocola, she is no longer by your side but behind you. She smiles, takes you by the shoulders, and pushes you through the door to the right into the inactive room.
(Crisocola) "Come on, come on! This is our chance!"
>Maneuvering with Crisocola touching your clothes is complicated; even if she brushes your hair a little, it could break part of herself. As you enter the inactive hall, you can't help but think you are doing something wrong, though from Crisocola's expression it seems she is only reaffirming her freedom. The weight of the three shells is on your hands. After entering, there are three sections that stand out in this place: the remains zone, deep sleep, and reanimation in progress. The first site is by far the largest, followed by the second hall in second place respectively. The ceiling is high, and the light comes from holes up there; there are no luminescent crystals, only faint rays of sunlight filtered through. The first area is somewhat dark, with rows of three general arrangements of gem remains along the path, on the left and right. Aquirofanite, Goshenite, Agate, Vesuvianite, Xenophyllite, Hessonite, Apatite, Rodalquilarite—so many names, rocks, and trays. Some have more or less pieces; definitely gems you do not know. Crisocola heads directly to where Cyanite is; her step is not so hurried, and Andalucita has no urge to chase.

>Howlita observed the scene carefully, noticing how Anatasa was struggling to lift one of her weapons, admiring the beauty of the obsidian and its glassy shine. Although the young gem had minimal strength, she found the right way to grip the sword, showing a bit of talent.
>It seemed somewhat cute to Howlita, saying Jolita instead

don't overexert yourself, you're still too young to use it correctly.

>Ruby, on her part, praised Howlita's work

of course, it's thanks to me that we can defend ourselves better, although I think she should work on some kind of ranged weapon...

>Ruby also comments on the weapons requested by Padparadscha

I see her orders as a challenge, you know, if I can make those things, conventional weapons are nothing.

>She felt flattered by Ruby's comments and when she mentioned wanting to learn her technique

it'll be a pleasure, I could use some help

>However, Howlita knew that at that moment, Ruby was busy with Anatasa and she had to focus on her task. Despite that, Anatasa showed curiosity about the planet's history and the world's tremors, meteorite impacts and the centrifugation that changed it completely.

by the way, do you have any weapon in mind? I could use working on something intermediate between standard weapons and what your companion requests

>Anatasa started asking Rubí about the origin of this world, it seems Fluorita rushed with the explanations. Naturally, this is something that is told only after a year of existence or more. Anyway, it's incredible how easily Anatasa can communicate, although the language is like an intrinsic aspect, no gem dominates it completely until a month or two after birth. You can only conclude that she was very intelligent, although a bit imprecise, disobedient and energetic. Rubí wouldn't get much from explaining aspects she won't understand for a long time, so she corrected the number of events and nothing more. Anatasa started circling around Rubí while you and she were talking, fortunately she is careful enough to not accidentally bump into and break herself.
(Rubí) About that... Padparadscha is convinced that her performance would improve if she fought with a scythe.
>Rubí says this with some pity, an weapon like that has great reach but no defense and maneuverability, it sounds more like an aesthetic motive than practical. You can make such a weapon following the basic model of Fluorita for the scythe, this scheme has an age of centuries, seems like Padparadscha tormented the leader before you. Rubí only tells you that, Padparadscha hasn't made the order yet, maybe Rubí has a chance for her to reconsider making it. Anatasa approaches you, grabs you from the front and you have to look down to hear her question.
(Anatasa) Jolita, do you know about the forest goblin?
(Rubí) Let's go already, Anatasa. Howlita, although it was just a while, thanks for receiving us in your armory.
>Rubí doesn't give Anatasa time to develop any nonsense, seems like some gem already put ideas in her head. You know the word goblin because Fluorita once mentioned the non-existence of invisible creatures, although you have no idea about the appearance or nature of this invented creature. The gems that spend their time in the forest are just a pair. A short while passed since Rubí and Anatasa left, soon another gem approaches where you are. You didn't manage to close the door, you just saw one of the gems that usually roams the forest appear with you.
(Aragonito) Wuhuu- Howlita, are you here?
>Aragonito's greeting is strange, but you could expect something like that from her, always expressed in an extravagant way, residues of the abundant knowledge of Fluorita suppose all. It's obvious that she finds you with just a glance. Aragonito would have to wait a while until you complete the swords you were working on, at least until a point where you can resume your progress. Aragonito takes advantage of this short wait to let you know about her visit.
(Aragonito) I was looking for you, you or Benitoíta. It's about the material they gave me several days ago. It was really interesting, can I tell you and then you tell Benito too?
>They spend the time together, so telling the details to one is enough, that's the logic of Aragonito. You hadn't noticed until now, the way Aragonito was holding a broom in addition to various cleaning items. Seems like finding you wasn't her main priority.
(Aragonito) I said looking for and not cleaning, what a mistake.
>Aragonito shows her lack. The cleaning of the Academy is the responsibility of many gems, but it's mainly Aragonito who is most enthusiastic about it. The sea breeze brings a lot of dust from the outside, being such a weak hardness gem, erosion is something she doesn't like. That's fine, the only detail is that Aragonito didn't just bring a broom, but two, maybe one was for you.

I found more pics of Aragonito

>Accepted the shells as memories and made a note on the paper to remember to give one to the gems that she thought would appreciate it. At the same time, she noticed the complexity of Andalucita's work and the skill it would require to carry it out day after day.
>She was confused when Andalucita first said they could leave the shells in the inactive room and then said no, in the end not fully understanding if she was doing something wrong by following Crisocola but assuming that was how it was when she tried to anticipate the gem's pushes to avoid any accidental contact that might end in its breakage, just as she would if she were about to touch a gem whose hardness she didn't remember at the moment.
Our chance to leave the shells where Cianita is and go out?
>She assumed that was what they came to do, because she couldn't imagine what else they could want in this room, besides retracing the inactive gems that had a face or part of it, something for which they obviously wouldn't have time.
>After the question, she focused only on keeping away from anything in the place that could be important and identifying how many of the gems would at least have names in her notebook. Everything would be fine as long as she didn't disturb the room's order, she assumed.

Crisocola's grip faded once they crossed the threshold. You might have heard Andalucite's open question about where they'd gone, if you hadn't moved so quickly. Among all the things you can't control is your hair, and since Crisocola was pushing from behind, chances were high they'd touched. But with no fragments of Crisocola falling and no sign of her concern, it wasn't something to focus on. Crisocola's path through the rows of pedestals with remains was slow; she lost all sense of pursuit the second they passed the threshold.

(Crisocola) Yes, you're right.

She was oddly brief in answering your question. Dozens of unknown gems surrounded them—at least fragments of those gems that still remained. Crisocola stepped a few paces ahead and turned to face you. In her gaze, you could tell she was trying to make you notice something, like her hints in the garden or by the lake.

(Crisocola) But, Kunzite, look around you. They're all here! None have truly left. It's a suuuper visit.

She turned a few degrees while spreading her arms, though no glow highlighted her gesture. Crisocola made it clear they were in the presence of dozens of gems—even if dormant, she still looked enchanted. Crisocola stepped back to walk beside you, ready to explain as they moved.

(Crisocola) Nothing here loses part of itself; instead, it grows over time. It accumulates piece by piece, no matter how tiny.

No gem fragment is ever lost—only added to, slowly building toward completion. This was the point Crisocola wanted to emphasize: a safe place that gains more and more across the centuries. Crisocola let you ponder it for a moment—even when cutting kyanite fragments, Andalucite would have to come directly here to do it. Crisocola kept her hands behind her back; after several seconds of walking and passing under a beam of filtered light from outside, she pointed upward with her left hand.

(Crisocola) Do you think the light from the ceiling is too dim? I thought so too, and that we should do something about it, but then I changed my mind. Know why? I'll tell you—I think they recognize us by our glow, even while they're asleep.

Crisocola shared a personal idea, beyond the established rules of this hall of remains. Here, Crisocola seemed a bit more serious, as if trying to convince you. She held her hands forward, apart, as she spoke about her thoughts.
(Crisocola) Just think about it. After you break, the first face you'd expect to see when waking up would be Imperial Topaz or Andalucite. But is it intuition, or did you catch their glow while you were asleep? If it's the latter, then to them your glow is new, very beautiful and unusual—one they'll definitely remember upon waking.

>It would be an interesting detail to reflect on, if you hadn't shattered long ago. Losing consciousness and regaining it later sounds like sleeping; under that analogy, you could work it a bit. Crisocola's point can't be proven so easily, though personally you'd have some separate experience from when Anatase was born. Onyx was in the infirmary, and Howlite and Benitoite kept confusing the two of them with someone called Dolomite—apparently their glow is similar. Finally, Crisocola highlights your glow as one the inactive gems here will appreciate, even making a joke about walking down the same hallway several times until they remember you properly. Anyway, for now they only had to reach their destination. The platform upon which Cyanite's remains rest isn't too high. You can see all of Cyanite's fragments in sharp detail.

(Crisocola) Doesn't it have a certain charm? Her color isn't a sober sky blue like Fluorite's, but a greenish tone, resembling the crystal-clear water of atolls down south.

>Crisocola made a comparison with an environment only she could have seen. She urges you to leave the shells on the long wooden bowl where her broken mineral composition rests. As you approach, you clearly see all the pieces there: a quarter of her chest, half a hand with thumb and wrist up to the middle of her forearm, then a short parallel cut of what might be a thigh, a broken eye, and several loose fragments with very fragile fractures. But what stood out most among all the above was a partial shell of her face—the right side of her face, below the ear, encompassing part of her lips and half of her chin. Crisocola places her hands on her hips; she'd ask you something that could disorient anyone.

(Crisocola) So, can you depict her? I definitely forgot her face—lost it a long time ago.

>She looks interested in your answer, taking her subsequent confession lightly, despite how difficult those words are to hear.

>He didn't know whether it would have been better to quickly forget what he had done or to remember it well in order to explain himself later. He swore he had heard Andalucita calling them but it could have been imagined due to the nerves.
Well.
>He allowed himself to relax a little after being confirmed that they would be here only for a moment and he looked more carefully at the inactive gems visiting.
Are they looking for all of them too? There are so many.
>He wouldn't know if there were more gems in this room than walking through the academy unless he went through his entire list and compared the numbers. He would at least try to remember their colors in case he saw parts of them outside this room.
Are they recovering their memories instead of losing them? That's what happens when Andalucita repairs them.
>The comment from Crisocola made her think about this. If the gem pieces were increasing over time, so were their inclusions and the memories they kept in them. But at the same time, they would be losing the ability to form new memories while inactive, like watching Anatasa being born, or her.
>She knew they couldn't have been there when she emerged because she didn't recognize them, and it seemed odd that Crisocola believed she would recognize them, until it was explained.
Anatasa could perceive some things when she was born, before Andalucita gave her eyes.
>She said something to support Crisocola's hypothesis and let herself be led to Cianita's pedestal, although she wouldn't have minded walking through the entire room again to see the remains in more detail and be more sure that she had never heard of them, not even in Diamante's dream. Probably she hadn't, were the gems of that dream not the ones captured by piroclasts? Their remains wouldn't be here.
It's a different color.
>Green wasn't the most unusual tone in the academy, several gleamed in that color, the differences between them and the pieces of Cianita were subtle and far from being the first thing that would stand out among the diverse pieces on the platform.
Do you want me to draw its face?
>The question caught her off guard, she could only respond with another question. She didn't know if it was impossible to draw something that wasn't being seen directly, until now she hadn't tried it, that she remembered, but it didn't sound very different from dreaming, something she also didn't remember doing.
>If she had the ability to vividly dream about imaginary scenarios that she had never actually seen, like Diamante Amarillo did, she might also be able to imagine the face of a gem she had never met. Perhaps she could do it while awake. Perhaps she had already done it before.
She could try it. But maybe it will take me some time.
>She answered without certainty. Technically she had already seen Cianita, Kunzita 27 and other gems that she only knew by name. When she heard about them without trying to, she would draw in her mind a face different from the ones of the gems she did know.
>She thought that drawing the pieces of Cianita would help her perfect the mental image she had of her and tried to lift her notebook but stopped herself and tried something different, flowing the alloy through her arm carefully, stepping back from the platform.
>She focused on a single drop of Kunzita, trying to change its shape to resemble more the Cianita of her imagination, one with shorter hair and a facial structure closer to Crisocola's than her own.
>She tried her best, and hoped this wouldn't make her spark like Diopsido.

>From Rubi's previous expression, you could notice she wasn't very happy with Padparadscha's requests; in fact, she'd even prefer that she only fought with swords. After you showed enthusiasm for the idea, giving it a more practical twist, Rubi set aside her limited sorrow. Maybe it was a good idea; Rubi has fought for centuries, so changing her technique is complicated, but Padparadscha tries an infinity of things—possibly she's the only one who can confirm if such a design would be efficient. Anatasa didn't have time to be disappointed by your expression; when they left, you could continue forging weapons, even if just for a few minutes. Aragonite appeared with extra cleaning supplies, and your fate was sealed. Aragonite told you about her experience with the material as they went up to the second floor, then the third.
(Aragonite) I received the silicate fabric samples from Benito. At first, it seemed like a common job, high quality as I'd expect from her, but it surprised me in one thing: its weight was almost double what I was used to. Unlike quartz, cristobalite, or tridymite, this solid solution has a hardness of 7.5 to 8.
>Hearing such high hardness coming from a quartz is unusual, by far. After going up to the third floor, Aragonite heads to another place that isn't Fluorite's office. They just pass by there; Fluorite seems to be resting strangely again. The Academy's roof is all white and extremely smooth. It's a flat platform only at the very top; along the edges, slopes accentuate, giving way to rounded architecture. By the geometry of its exterior, the roof is a precise place for birds of all kinds to settle. Naturally, organic organisms have a consumption system and waste; that's the second thing they have to clean. The appearance is distinctive, the touch viscous; Aragonite looked somewhat angry because there was a lot of it today.
(Aragonito) I ended up asking Fluorita directly. The material they gave me was Stishovite, silica in a more compact, tetragonal crystal lattice.
>Aragonito explains to you as they continue cleaning. Her gaze rests on the surface of the Academy, nothing more. You don't need to get too close to the edges because the slopes there don't accumulate much dirt. Maybe Aragonito, who is somewhat insistent, ignores that fact entirely and rushes to clean near those dangerous spots.
(Aragonito) I have no idea how it could have synthesized something like this…
>Before picking up a batch of excrement, Aragonito turns to you while confessing. Being a gem highly versed in materials development, this news hits hard. But soon Aragonito wraps it up and returns her gaze to the work.
(Aragonito) Well, if there is one. Probably she was forcing her inclusions beyond their limits. That will bring her some trouble, but nothing Fluorita can't fix with a scolding.
>Benitoíta having trouble with her inclusions isn't new news; Fluorita already told you long ago, as she tends to break apart suddenly on her own. Aragonito continues her work until some birds fly very close, in this direction. It seems they want to land here.
(Aragonito) Get out, get out! We just cleaned!
>Aragonito waves her broom and scares them off; probably Mystic Topaz would be sad to see this scene. Aragonito turns her gaze; she's holding all the waste in her left hand.
(Aragonito) Oh, right. Since their atoms are so close together, they tend to separate and revert to quartz. It'll only be a risk if the temperature rises.
>Again, the temperature problem. Unless Benito comes up with something against it, fighting incandescent pyroclasts will remain a hassle. You must continue working until Aragonito is satisfied with the result; she might take up a lot of your free time doing this. After this hour and a half, you must return to Benito for patrol.

>In this place the light is minimal; due to your iridescent condition, the glow you emit can be partially absorbed by the gems here. It's as if the low light presence allows them to borrow their own reflection. Perhaps this place was made this way on purpose, though it's well known that gems rest better in darkness—it's a natural condition. When you spoke of Anatasa, Crisocola paid full attention, then said it's so and reaffirmed her point. To test Crisocola's theory, two things are needed: a gem in an inactive state for a long time, and another gem that constantly reflects part of its light onto the first. Perhaps finding the answer to this could reveal a bit more about the nature of their inclusions. In any case, Crisocola is now exposing you to the gems here, as if presenting you before a crowd; she wants your impression to be clear. When you fix your gaze on the names of the gems, you find a couple you remember hearing before: Demantoid and Zircon. The first was a gem of intense green color; there was very little of it compared to the others, then Zircon whose torso was almost complete and also part of its upper head; there was so much of her that her space was somewhat wider. Both gems were among Magnetite, Enstatite, and Red Beryl.
(Crisocola) "Seriously, would you do it for me?! You're so good, Kunzita!"
>Crisocola's request was vague, perhaps a way to not discourage you from answering that you couldn't do it, however when your confirmation came, Crisocola was the one showing the most joy. She flatters you again; apparently today you'd be doing many things for her. As you let the alloy escape from your hands, all these metallic fluids burst out at once, forming a kind of layer that completely covered your hands, like malleable liquid gloves. It wasn't complicated to retract it all, but it was slow. As the drops went back into your permeable composition, Crisocola got closer and closer to see everything up close. The emotion on her face only increased when she saw how a metallic Kunzita head reformed as you wished. It seemed you could manage it; Diopside said that with autumn's thermal contraction you could maneuver the alloy better, but still these flaws happened. The metal drop burst from within and quickly reformed to your figure. Doing it all again would take a long time; Crisocola retracted her inclination; she was satisfied.
(Crisocola) Mmm, it was starting to look like it. Thanks anyway. Here!
>Your hands released a bit of alloy to hold what Crisocola suddenly placed in them. It was a conch shell; at first glance it seemed to return your previous gifts, but seeing her face, you realized it wasn't. Examining the shell's surface in detail, you noticed veins of dark blue—the formations you'd seen before near the coast. Crisocola gave you the shell containing her own segregated mineral composition. She didn't accept returns; she raised a finger to indicate the true nature of this thing.
(Crisocola) It's a special gift. I doubt those inclusions have any useful value. I mean, I can move and think right now. It was probably just erosion from my hair.
>Crisocola has no problem losing certain memories of her material, even if they come from her hair, though she still keeps a minimum of inclusions. For Crisocola, it seems enough to keep all the current material; being the careful gem she is, it's a great detail. In Crisocola's words, everything said before sounded like it devalued the gift, so she retorts by emphasizing the beauty of her mineral.
(Crisocola) That doesn't make it any less beautiful, right? If something of yours ends up lost in the sea and a crab considers it perfect for its home, then I'll keep that shell. Is that a deal?
>The situation Crisocola describes is very unlikely to happen, perhaps during winter on frozen water you might fall in. However, by then you'd have Onix to prevent something like that. Onix will eventually teach you how to walk underwater in case of an accident. For now, in autumn, you can spend some time with Crisocola while letting the Kyanite remnants rest.
(Padparadscha) Hmm? Is someone there..?
>Padparadscha entered through the same way you did; she heard something but couldn't see far due to the dim light. Crisocola is surprised but not frightened by her presence, even though they entered improperly. She says nothing, only moving away and pulling you away from the light that could reveal her presence. Padparadscha carries a jar with a transparent, somewhat viscous liquid, along with a long-bristled brush, and approaches a gem pedestal.

>The experiment showed promise at first, although it failed, there were enough advances to believe that perhaps it could succeed if he kept trying. However, he would have to do it another time, since his hands would be occupied with the shell of Crisocola.
No, your hair has a very nice shine, thank you.
>He denied that the gift from his hair would diminish its value. He liked his hair, it was perhaps the part that interested him most about other gems, maybe because his own changed color, or because the shine of some diamonds was so bright, or because it was the hair where the memories of the dead were stored.
>Although he was a bit concerned afterwards thinking about it. Could that be the reason why Crisocola didn't remember the face of Cianita, or maybe not? That would be unfortunate.
Treatment.
>He would have said that As long as it wasn't a very large part of her, if he didn't already know the approximate size of the shells. Something so minimal shouldn't be a problem, and she herself didn't have that many memories to keep anyway.
>Afterwards they had to hide from Padparadscha, who had come in with a brush and a bottle. That was interesting. Did she also know an inactive gem from the place? No, Padparadscha was one of the oldest gems, she must have known several, if not all. It was still interesting to see her here. Her personality was somewhat gruff, but it seemed that she also cared about some of the gems that slept here.
>It interested him to know more, although the little lighting in the place activated her property of shining in the dark and would immediately betray her if she stuck her head out to see better.

>it seems Benitoíta managed to synthesize something particular
>a material that Aragonito has no idea how it could have been synthesized

Benito has a lot of experience

>nonetheless, it seems he has his weaknesses
>although Fluorita can compensate for them
>on the other hand, Aragonito is fighting with some birds

these organic beings bring me some questions, do you think any of them could have some mineral part AKA pearls and ambers?

>Aragonito continues talking about the structure of the material
>it seems vulnerable to temperature

we could find a way to refrigerate the material or attack the incandescent pyroclasts with something that makes them lower their temperature, but both things would be very complicated.

Really? Well that's because I'm a major gem! Fuhuhuhu!

>Turns with some curiosity towards Kunzita as soon as she hears her comment
>After that she lifts her chest and smiles proudly
>Then proceeds to laugh with her eyes closed while showing a satisfied face
>That wasn't at all the reaction she expected to get
>But she liked the idea of being praised as someone older
>Something quite noticeable given her way of acting

Jejeje, this is normal when you get to a certain age

>Taaffeita would again try to continue with her act of being a major gem and wise
>Something that for the other older gems probably looks funny
>But Taaffeita doesn't notice anything of this and even thinks that what they say is just another way of confirming her great age
>To the point where even the touch of Sandía becomes in her mind a congratulation for having matured

!!!Oooohhh!!! This is what you meant, it doesn't look much like the ones I've seen

>The sudden mention of a heart makes Taaffeita stop looking with confusion at the rock she has in her hands
>Then alternates her gaze between said rock and her chest
>If this one is in the chest of Anastasa then that means Taaffeita also possesses a heart
>Although no matter how she looks at both she's unable to find a detail that relates them to the ones of organic beings
>She's even unable to perceive beats when she brings her ear close
>Thinking about this topic kept her so occupied that she practically didn't notice several of the other things that happened on the way

>>7583

There's no need to worry, Now that I'm older I'm also stronger!

>Time had passed, but Taaffeita's attitude regarding no longer being the second youngest had remained
>Giving her an extra boost of confidence, which she hopes will be reflected in her skills
>Since she leaves her hiding spot with a jump just before the ashes get close
>Then closes her fist strongly while saying those words
>And then launches into battle while burning with the desire to show her maturity

>Crisocola moved her head side to side in a smile; now they had made a pact, though the conditions for its execution are extremely improbable. Anyway, Crisocola couldn't wait to have some of your crystalized into something so extraordinary; it would be eerie that she now considers breaking part of you to fulfill it. It's not the case, though—the slow opening of the door and the audible footsteps on Padparadscha's platforms alerted them. They were in front of Cyanite, and now Crisocola guided you to hide behind her. Your glow could be mistaken for the beam of light nearby that cuts through the air from the ceiling. Padparadscha looks around; she thinks she noticed something, but then just attributes it to her imagination. She walks calmly; when she reaches the place where a gem lies, she uses a brush to clean the rocks. Padparadscha removes the salt sheets that form due to the humid environment; that's what Imperial Topaz does every time they go to polish themselves.
(Padparadscha) The pair of hardness 6 gave us hope without knowing it, though they almost got caught in the process, foolish and careless.
>She speaks to herself; now that she's focused on cleaning a rock, you can see her a bit. Padparadscha is careful; no piece of the original rock comes loose, but above all, she is efficient. The flask she carries holds a liquid similar to what they all apply to get a pale coating, but different—instead of covering their color, this variant preserves the original hue and gives a bit of shine. Padparadscha applies a layer of luster to the inactive gems; their remnants reflect light better, both in darkness and when the sun settles upon them.
(Padparadscha) You look good.
>Padparadscha crouched for a moment; you heard the sound of a couple of small doors opening. In each room there are furniture pieces accompanying the pedestal of the remains, so that parts that can't be put on display are simply stored in wooden boxes. The gem she's attending to now is one that had so much of itself that part of it had to be stored away. As Padparadscha lifts her head from a reddish-orange gem, she casually has her gaze in this direction. Crisocola whispers to you until she notices that Padparadscha might find them.
(Crisocola) Haa- It's zircon and it's almost complete. Zircon has always been very beautiful; I met her a little when I was small. Hey, Kunzite! Lower your head. I'll tell you everything, okay?
>The mineral has a reddish-orange color. Padparadscha rested that half-head on top of the small box and began cleaning and polishing it. Zircon's head was halfway there, one part exposed and the other stored; what was hidden mostly contained her long hair. Crisocola kept you on guard in case they found you, but also described the scene a bit through her words. Padparadscha continuously visited the gems to clean them and make them shine. She spoke a little with each one, as if contemplating the loss of each. She never went too far with a "I'm sorry" or "How unfortunate," at least not yet. Crisocola explained to you that she had a blue gem in her hands; she took it without care, but it didn't break or scratch any, as if they had the same hardness.
(Padparadscha) Sapphire, you taught us so much. Since we recovered one of your pieces, your star pupil, Alexandrite, has changed slightly. She hides her feelings under a thin layer of high hardness, though her hair betrays her easily. I'm starting to believe she's becoming more and more like you.
>Another corundum; she refers to Sapphire with respect. Regarding Alexandrite, she might take it more lightly, but you can still hear a bit of her concern. The nature of gems is not immutable; although they seem like they could last thousands of years, they change with external events, for better or worse. Padparadscha is aware of that change in another combat gem, a companion who guides an inexperienced gem. She didn't linger too long with Sapphire; her pieces were very few. Crisocola's eyes opened wide when she realized Padparadscha would be with you for 4 or 5 shifts.
(Crisocola) She's coming; best we leave. Here, put this on; it'll hide your shine a bit.
>Crisocola placed her hat on you; it was large enough that part of your head was swallowed by the deep bowl of its crown. The sensation was damp; in fact, some water droplets slid from the very top of your head, crossing the sides of your face down to the floor. Crisocola's plan was to sneak out toward the end of the room; the entrance had been taken by Padparadscha, but there was a door leading only to the back of the place.

>Orange gems tend to interrupt your forging work, although it's mainly Topaz who falls into this category, today Anatase, Ruby and Aragonite are also here. Their warm colors can't be a coincidence in their interventions, although it doesn't matter too much now. The touch of the remains of organic beings is something disgusting, it's not soft and fluffy like some of the animals, but it's soft and somewhat sticky. Aragonite takes the time to eliminate these small adverse ecosystems, which according to her ruin the beauty of the Academy. This place is always spotless and bright, it's the reason for the effort of several gems, among them who works the most, Aragonite. She heard about Benitoita being very good at what she does, while raising the broom she gave you the reason.
(Aragonite) It's true, I do the same but I don't dedicate the full time. In her view it was 320 years of trial and error. Ah! Out, out!
>It seems complete dedication grants special skills, something you would have experienced reforming weapons from scratch. Aragonite is now very busy with the animals, she doesn't harm them only scares them. Birds can be very volatile, they only escape with sudden and strong actions. As for you, continuing to clean isn't a problem, Aragonite adds a layer of a solid substance that will keep the birds away for a while. After a moment you can take the time to ask about these beings.
(Aragonite) Oh, that's interesting! Once I met Turmaline and asked her why her flowers last after the extreme winter. It seems that they also crystallize their being in a mineral coating or something like that. Isn't that rare?
>Aragonite shows a smile, she only told you a curious detail, she couldn't answer too many questions because it's not her strong point. The presence of inclusions gives them life, it's natural to think that some animals also use them to stay alive. The conversation was led towards the topic of cooling and applying it to weapons or pyroclasts. Aragonite took it from the point of view of what she could do.
(Aragonite) Water also has inclusions. If it didn't have them, then we could store it and manipulate it to decrease temperatures.
>Aragonite works with silica and wood, one is a more rudimentary job than the other. Reforming water into ice or vapor isn't a possibility due to its composition. It's like a miracle that they have silica available to do what they can. While Aragonite was cleaning one of the edges she diverted her gaze towards the surroundings for a moment. There below the shine of a gem stood out in the west garden of the academy, near a pool under the care of Topacio Místico.
(Aragonite) Ah, that's... Hey! Benito, we're doing cleaning! Are you joining? Mm... it seems that she isn't.
>Aragonite waved her right hand long and greeted Benito. She proposed to also join the cleaning, but you wouldn't know if Benitoíta really heard what Aragonite said. Or they were too high for her to hear badly or Benitoíta was pretending after greeting them. When she removed her hand from her ear trying to listen better, it only made Aragonite conclude that she wouldn't go up. Aragonite's disappointment didn't last too long, near Benitoita was Topacio Místico and at the same time she had behind her many animals, different birds from the ones that fly nearby. Topacio Mistico is heading to the interiors of the Academy with a band of ducks that follow her, it's the terror of Aragonite. It seems they will have to come down soon.
(Aragonite) A-aa-ah. I just cleaned there.

(Alexandrita) Taaffeite, move!
> Alexandrite warns you, but making such a sharp turn is impossible, especially at the speed the ash has already reached—a direct hit is imminent. She's closing in from behind, and ahead of you is the dark cluster of lapilli. When the ash strikes your back, fragments of your structure scatter onto the ground and into the pyroclastic formation. The ash transferred its kinetic energy to you, and by inertia, you're now hurtling straight toward the lapilli. Your trajectory is set, but your approach is unstable. Before you can recompose yourself, one of the lapilli begins drawing several arrows from within.
12d100 = 425
> It wasn't intentional on either side—when you collided with their obsidian-tipped arrows, your left arm snapped off, followed by part of your neck, leaving a gaping hole in that spot.
(Alexandrita) !!Taa—!!
> The base of your head becomes unstable. If you had time to support it, you might have avoided a fracture, but you're already on your way toward the sea. Once your body hits the water, you feel the crystal shatter. As if asleep or nonexistent, you can't feel your body sinking into the depths—only recall imagining it before breaking apart. Pyroclasts can't withstand large amounts of water; they simply disintegrate due to their granular structure, leaving behind dark, muddy water that's hard to move through. You know most of your body is safe underwater—Alexandrite will recover you.

Current Time
>It is the 12th day of Autumn. Imperial Topaz separated from you for a moment. Distinct from the sensation of instant fullness and the return of sensations before the fracture, when you wake up you feel a certain dizziness and memory loss. You heard this from other gems before, but never could experience it yourself until now, when a significant part of your body is replaced; when that happens, the gems wake up somewhat confused. Imperial Topaz approached the door of the operating room; she called for Andalucita, who was standing behind it. Apparently, there were a couple of gems out there too, but Topaz doesn't mention them; you only hear their hurried footsteps. There is a box your size near where you are, as if Topaz is about to place you there for rest. Your entire being has been repaired and polished with precision; there are no cracks or fractures, it's impeccable work. Finally, Andalucita crosses the door back into the room.
(Andalucita) Sorry for the delay, there were a couple of gems outside and... Ah, they'll be leaving anyway.
>Andalucita refrains from giving any explanation beyond a simple delay. The pair of gems outside were warned; for now, it's just Andalucita, Topaz, and you in this place. The medical gems will now tell you about the previous events and your new condition. Andalucita crosses her arms and tells you what happened, just like she did an hour ago.
(Andalucita) Until recently, you were fighting a group of pyroclasts, a type two additive-free attack. Do you remember? I hope so. You fell into the sea after breaking here and here. Mm, also part of your head.
>She released her hand to point at your neck and then at your left arm near the shoulder. Those parts are in perfect condition now; there's doubt whether that actually happened because there are no traces of any kind. Andalucita also points to the lower part of your head, near your mouth to the right. A shell from your face had fallen off during the battle; you're able to remember that, but the rest about the blows to your back and the total fractures in your limbs, you still have to concentrate to visualize it. The truth is, you're fine now. Andalucita stays silent for a moment while Topaz brings over a bucket full of plants. What Topaz is carrying in that deep container seems to be seaweed; it makes sense because you fell in the southern region of the Crystal Land. There the vegetation is greater, and there isn't too much erosive breeze or rock with too high hardness; it's accumulated clay, sediment after sediment.
(Imperial Topaz) Taaf! Look, you had all this on you!
(Andalucita) Not yet, Topaz.
>Andalucita moves the bucket out of your view, suggesting to Topacio to resume the topic of algae later. Right now, Andalucita must explain what she had to do to bring you back. The pristine glow of the environment is comforting; although you haven't slept for much more than an hour, you can receive the light with a certain nostalgia.
(Andalucita) Most of you was recovered, but there were certain pieces the pyroclasts took from you. We had to shape other of your pieces to fit into the hole in your head, but either there wasn't enough or they were incompatible.
>Your hair is short and compact; the residual inclusions there are very close together and don't allow space for important inclusions to shift inside the material. This amount of hair helps a lot with fighting and training; Alexandrita always agrees with that point, however right now you are seeing the downsides. When a gem breaks, it can replace its original composition with some of its hair, as long as it is appropriate to fill the gaps. When Alexandrita broke, they did that with her, and now you see her over there looking for new techniques to counter the arrows. Andalucita explains the problem to you; you are here, so there is a solution to make you aware of.
(Andalucita) Topacio checked your belongings and found you had a very well-cut Taaffeite gem. The terminal elements differ from yours, but it still served to repair you. Since we replaced such important inclusions, I expected your recovery to take at least a day, but I was wrong. Are you awake, then?
>This object was one that Aragonito gave you; it was that and a broken quartz bird. It was the day Alexandrita broke; you could have spent time helping another, and Aragonito took the opportunity. According to the medical gems, it was good luck that you had that with you; they could use it instead of your hair. There is a possibility that your body will reject it and break, but given your rapid recovery, perhaps it won't be the case. You know that some gems broke their heads or hearts, for example Tanzanite, who slept for centuries until her new head accepted her body. Andalucita now makes a gesture for you to stand up; by your side there is a line with numbers, they look like length measurements.
(Andalucita) As I suspected. You grew two centimeters.
>Andalucita placed her hand on your head and said that. Adding parts of Taaffeite with different terminal elements to Taaffeite caused a slight physical change. Imperial Topacio keeps the giant box under the bed; she brings some cubes with algae behind the curtains of the next room. There are one, two, three, and four cubes with organic material inside.
Well, I'll take it as true. kek finally, the title "two centimeters" is the size Taaffeite grew, how much hair Howlite lost, and the alloy limit Kunzita controls

Uhum.
>She nodded to Crisocola's words, without taking her eyes off what Padparadscha was doing. She was good at that, it was clear she had practice and moved with naturalness. What a pity. She was such a good fighter and also did this well, plus she was allowed to enter the room that Crisocola and she could only sneak into.
>Listening to her talk with the inactive gems, it became more obvious that she hadn't come here with the same intentions as Crisocola. She wasn't speaking with a single gem or a particular one, just a little with practically all of them, not like them who had come specifically to see Cianita. Did she do this often? Perhaps when they gathered enough pieces of some inactive gem, it would be the glow of Padparadscha that would be the first one she recognized, or the one that would confuse the gems of her color that saw her for the first time upon awakening.
Wow.
>She received Crisocola's hat with pleasure. It was an interesting object, like a symbol of Crisocola that served to identify her. It surprised her that she could separate from it so easily. Since it was too big for her head, she used it instead to cover her face in front and follow Crisocola's steps, or what she could see of her with a hat covering her eyes.

>No matter how Padparadscha touched it, whether she pressed it between her hands, scratched it with the protruding parts of her fingers, or finally rubbed it in a kind of caress, the Sapphire gem did not break, crack, or scratch under her touch. Padparadscha is strong, and with the brush she is delicate, however she did not use it on Sapphire. After talking too much, Padparadscha would approach the other gems to give them their proper maintenance. Bornite, Amethyst, then Paragonite, Erythrosiderite, and so on until she found Cyanite. The moment she arrived with Crisocola's old companion, the two of you were already very close to the exit door. The large hat was perfect for hiding your shine; placing it over your face didn't allow you to see much forward. You might think the floor couldn't be appreciated either due to the darkness of the place, but your shine played an important role dazzling the path. Her steps were silent; thanks to Crisocola's guidance, you were already crossing the threshold of the exit.
(Padparadscha) ...
>Light filtered inside; Padparadscha turned her gaze a second before you stepped out completely. Even if you looked back as you exited, you wouldn't find her gaze among the darkness and the backlight. The environment outside the inactive room is homogeneous with the Academy's hallways. They are located at the back of the first floor; here there are many doors and free-use zones, but only Diopside's stationery shop is active on the right wing. You are on the left; you'd have to cross behind the stairs to reach the second floor to get there. Thanks to the Academy's layout, no gem saw you leave. The closed door had no handle to open back; it was really only an exit. Naturally, you had to move away a couple of meters so your conversation couldn't be heard from inside.
(Crisocola) Haa. That was close. It was exciting; I even started sweating.
>Unlike most gems who speak relative to light, Crisocola always alludes to water and humidity; it's something you're already somewhat used to after hearing her sporadic stories. Crisocola looks relieved; it seems everything went well, both remembering Cyanite and winding her freedom to spy and infiltrate.
(Crisocola) During her free time, Padparadscha spends her time staring at nothing on the lonely southern island. I know because I sometimes emerge in that area. She caught me a couple of times and I experienced torture a couple more times.
>As they move away from this place toward the stairs and near the main hall, Crisocola tells you a bit about Padparadscha. Apparently, it's not the first time Crisocola has spied on Padparadscha; according to her, it was truly risky to stay even a minute longer in that place. Although she doesn't specify Pads' unique punishment, it seems the danger is worth the thrill of the moment. In some way, it's like venturing underwater; Crisocola told you about the countless threats there, and she is extremely careful. An intervention by another gem wouldn't allow anyone to make the analogy.
(Onix) You two. Were you getting into trouble again?
>Onix just sidestepped one step and was already in front of you; it seems she had been waiting near the stairs. Apparently, she overheard Crisocola talking about risks and adverse probabilities, and coming from an unexpected area only increased her suspicions. Crisocola definitely didn't expect anyone to be that close, especially considering Onix's generally cold attitude; she can't say anything in defense or confession. The stammering between "It's not what it looks like" and "It was just a coincidence" finally wears Onix down. She just uncrosses her arms and moves on from the topic.
(Onix) Anyway. I was looking for you, Kunzita. We must continue the lessons.
>It's a relief that Onix doesn't care too much about what other gems do, whether it's the Diamond crystals, Axinita's pencil, or Benitoite's room. She finally speaks to you, and you could deduce why Onix was roaming this area. Your tendency to get lost leads you to places no one would expect to visit; if you're not found in her work zone, Onix assumes you're in some quiet corner of the Academy.

At the end, was the chapter titled "2 centimeters"? It sounds silly, but I thought the full title was "Chapter 2: Error, Autumn, 2cm or Golem". I thought that one was funnier.

I felt a little proud of being able to read the first image without furigana.

>Did the chapter end up being called "2 centimeters"?
Yes, and also Autumn and Golem. Although it depends a bit on their actions if it ends up being called that kek As they say, adaptive title. I start each timeskip with certain ideas, but it's up to you whether I execute them all, modify or add more. The title isn't that important, except to give certain spoilers. It would be bland if the role was divided into chapter one, chapter two, chapter three and nothing more.

I think A. Golem sounds interesting as a title, is there time to find out what it's about, or has it already passed/ won't be able to pass and you can tell what it means?

Okay?

>Looks confused as her sword fails to hit that ash and turns to Alexandrita with the same confusion
>She was ready to try hitting him again, but Alexandrita's words make her change her mind
>After that she starts moving forward and leaves the ash behind to deal with the others
>Although she can't help but glance back a few times due to the intrigue caused by having failed that way
>Because of this she isn't able to concentrate enough on the battle and becomes a target of more attacks than expected

I think I'm a bit tired...

>She manages to block some projectiles, but the few she fails to dodge end up causing enough damage to knock her down
>Parts of her separate from her body and make it impossible for her to get up again
>In the same way her mind also starts to feel more fragmented
>She even forgets the danger of the situation she's in and focuses solely on the sky above her
>The clouds today certainly have a nice shape, but she can't see them for more than a few seconds before her consciousness fades

Hmm? aah... Good morning...

>Her first reaction upon waking up is to stay lying down while blinking multiple times as she recovers her senses
>After that she starts to take a better look at her body and the surroundings, the first seems to be fine and the second feels very familiar
>Not much time passes before the presence of more gems becomes noticeable
>So Taaffeita greets them although without much emotion

Eeeh... so... did I lose?

>She listens silently to everything Andalucita says to her
>Her expression remains quite neutral during that explanation
>The algae of Imperial Topacio is the only thing that manages to make her smile slightly
>Which doesn't last long once they return to the previous topic
>Her memories of the battle aren't entirely clear, but if she's here then what happened is obvious
>At some point she must have ended up broken and that happened without her being able to hit any of the enemies

Jeje... I'm awake...

>She lightly hits her head to indicate that while letting out a short laugh
>Although the joy of that laugh doesn't have half the emotion she usually carries
>This defeat seems to have drained a lot of her spirits, something she herself doesn't fully understand
>It's not the first time she has to be rebuilt and nor has much time passed since the last time they did it, so why is this happening to her?
>No matter how she thinks about it she can't come up with an answer, but she knows she doesn't want to show this "weakness" in front of the others, which is another feeling she doesn't know where it comes from

Eh? Did I grow? Uhm.... uhm.... Is Alex okay? And what about the algae?

>Her eyes open suddenly as she's informed about her new height
>And her mind is hit by a flood of information triggered only by the word "grow"
>Several of the recent events had made her feel much older
>Just like the case of the multiple compliments she had received, as well as her newly discovered talents
>But what made her feel the oldest was definitely the birth of Anastasa, thanks to her she's no longer the second youngest
>Taaffeita thought that was a sign that she was now on the same level as the others, but that defeat just showed her that she isn't
>And that ends up being quite depressing for her, to the point where she starts to panic in search of a new topic to talk about

Yes, there is enough time. About Golem, it's not an element that will last for long.
