Draulilfa used to be a great and prosperous continent where three dominant races coexisted, the Elves, the Dwarves, the Dragonkin and the Na'k. For centuries these races lived in peace, sharing the resources that the land had to offer. But over time, the seed of ambition began to grow slowly among the Na'k. Soon these began their campaign of expansion across the continent, marking the beginning of the Rupture Wars. For centuries the war between the four civilizations continued without any of the factions ever defeating the other. Until finally, a catastrophic event brought an end to the conflict, extinguishing a large number of species in the process and splitting the great continent into three, Belia, Valia and Winla.

The Na'k became extinct, the Dragonkin escaped to some unknown place, the Elves and Dwarves remained in the micro continents, scattered in populations that barely reached the hundreds. These had to adapt to the altered environments caused by the magic used during the war. They also witnessed how new conscious races evolved thanks to the magic-laden environments, beginning to interact with these in order to form bonds and to monitor them to prevent an event like that of the Na'k from happening again. So the centuries passed and all the races allied, living in harmony. In every village, city or settlement, in every place you can see members of any race living peacefully together. This has brought both good and bad things. Soon various criminal groups, cults and others began to form. Also, various creatures created as tools and weapons for the war began to evolve, from slimes, chimeras, giant insects and a long list of other things.

At this moment various stories will begin, maybe you have something to do with that story. Maybe you are just a passerby in this, or you take a central role. All you know is that these lands have a lot to offer and you maybe have what it takes to get it.

Races:

Humans: Trapped in the frozen continent of Winlia, humans adapted to a hostile land, becoming more creative. Additionally, they developed close ties with the Hogorcs, Frostbeard Dwarves, and Snow Elves, granting you +1 to any statistic of your choice.

Elves: After the cataclysm, the elves split into three sub-races. Influenced by the lands they were exiled to, they adapted to ensure survival.

Forest Elves: These elves hold their green kingdoms in Valia. For a long time, they kept themselves apart from other races, considering them unworthy and inferior. This changed five hundred years ago when the Millennial Queen Zeri'dal decreed the Law of the End of Exile. Of druidic beliefs, these elves are raised from a young age to live in harmony with nature and to be skilled hunters. You can choose between +1 to Dexterity or Wisdom, or proficiency in Survival checks.

Desert Elves: The Desert Elves had to adapt to the warm climate of Belia. The relentless sun darkened their skin and made them somewhat shorter. They abandoned their druidic practices, focusing more on arcane and spiritual magic to make life in the desert easier. They used magic to shape sand into beautiful architecture alongside the Sandbeard Dwarves. You get +1 to Intelligence or Charisma.

Snow Elves: Adapted to the cold ecosystem of Winlia, the Snow Elves relied on their knowledge of arcane magic and an alliance with the Frostbeard Dwarves to survive. Their skin changed to pale tones, sometimes even bluish. Accustomed to cold climates, they often wear little clothing in warmer regions. They gain +1 to Intelligence or Wisdom.

Dwarves: Short in stature but with big hearts, the dwarves, like the elves, were divided by the cataclysm, forming three dwarf clans: the Sandbeards, the Mossbeards, and the Frostbeards.

Sandbeards: The Sandbeard Dwarves lived as nomads for a long time, dedicating themselves to trade and exchange. They eventually allied with the Desert Elves, creating some of the largest cities in Belia, which are almost entirely dedicated to commerce and entertainment. You get +1 to Constitution or Charisma, or proficiency in Persuasion.
Barbamusgo: The moss-beards adapted quickly to a life of agriculture and mining, being the luckiest of the clans. The moss-beard dwarves had no trouble adapting to the fertile lands of Valia, allying with the Buffaltos for greater security. Their fortress-cities cover several peaks and hills, metropolises where prosperity abounds. You gain a +1 to CON or STR or proficiency in Athletics.

Barbaescarcha: Adapted to the hostile environment of Winlia, the frost-beards are much rounder and hairier, experts in smithing and mining. These dwarves founded the so-called smelting cities, which are warm refuges for all races. They coexist with the Snow Elves, the Hogorcos, and humans, always warm and festive. The wretched continent they inhabit has failed to freeze their hearts. You gain a +1 to CON or DEX or a custom weapon.

Buffaltos: Formerly anthropomorphic bovines, the current Buffaltos resemble humans or elves more than their ancestors, except they keep hooves on their feet, horns, ears, and their great size. Many believe this change in appearance is due to the influence of certain deities, but there is no proof to back this theory. With a serene character and immense strength, the Buffaltos usually live peacefully as farmers or herders, though some sometimes go on adventures in the world. You gain a +1 to STR or CON or proficiency in Athletics.

Hogorcos: Humanoid in appearance but with a pig's face, the Hogorcos are natural survivors, adapted to the hostile climate of Winlia. The Hogorcos stood out for their excellent sense of smell and great physical strength. They added this to human intelligence and cunning, making them one of the dominant races of the continent. You gain a bonus to CON or proficiency in Survival or Animal Handling.

Goblins: Small, green, and chaotic. Before the Great Cataclysm, the goblins were nothing more than small tribes scattered here and there. No one knows what changed after the Cataclysm; it is only known that the once primitive and savage goblins now gathered in large groups, creating settlements and societies that grew larger and larger. Over time, they won the trust of the Alliance of the Dunes and the Zumin, establishing themselves as members of the alliance. You gain a +1 to INT or DEX or proficiency in any Intelligence-based skill.

Zumin: With large, round ears, the Zumin are a short-statured race that live as freely as they can. Zumin cities are places where people enjoy all kinds of pleasures. They are the ones prone to the life of adventure. You gain a +1 to DEX or CHA or you can be proficient in Persuasion, Deception, Acrobatics, or Sleight of Hand.

Barbarian +3 Str, +1 Con and +1 Cha or Wis
Bard +3 Cha, +1 Dex and +1 Int or Wis

Hero of the People: From a tender childhood you showed a charitable and kind spirit, your deeds led you to become the hero of your native village who gave you a personalized weapon, you are proficient in Survival and Animal Handling, you get +1 Strength, Dexterity or Constitution.

His faithful sword, it has no name, he doesn't need one. He believes it has power against all evil, maybe it's true or maybe not, but it's very ancient; its material and shape say so with whispers.
>Biography:
Sorry, staring so hard at those ENORMOUS Tits-eracaz made me forget to introduce myself.... well, really I don't remember much in general.

I don't remember my birth.
I don't remember my mother.
I don't remember a name that belongs to me.

My first memories are of stone and fire.

I lived far from towns, in a place where the magic remnants still oozing from the ground wounded by ancient wars.. A dead, broken, forgotten valley. There the trees grew twisted, as if listening to voices, and the wind whispered words in languages I never learned, but understood anyway. I don't know who left me there, nor why I survived when others didn't. Maybe no one left me. Maybe I just appeared, like wounds appear.

I ate what I hunted. I slept when my body collapsed. I learned to walk following beasts, to drink from puddles that glowed at night, to cover myself with poorly tanned furs. My body grew strong, but my mind.... my mind never really did.
Sometimes I talked to myself.
Sometimes someone answered me.

I lived in a region where the war hadn't ended completely, it had just been buried poorly. Fragments of the past emerged after the rains: bleached bones, twisted metal, symbols I didn't understand, but which caused me a painful familiarity. Sometimes I had visions I didn't know if they were memories. Cities falling. Green fire. Creatures that no longer exist. I was there.... or someone wearing my face was.

I don't know if they were spirits, memories that weren't mine, or fragments of something I was before. In Draulilfa, magic doesn't just change the flesh.... it stays in the bones, in the thoughts. I was full of it.

I dreamed of wars I never fought.
I dreamed of cities sinking.
I dreamed of a dragon looking at me as if it recognized me.

I woke up screaming.
One day I found iron. It wasn't a common sword. It was broken, eaten by time, but not defeated. Ancient bronze, a dull tone that turned green in the crevices, as if oxidation weren't corruption, but a ritual patina. The blade was wide and heavy, too long for a one-handed sword, designed to be wielded with both hands, as if whoever wields it must commit their whole body and will to every strike. The guard was worked with irregular spirals, not decorative, but intentional, symbols of a language I didn't recognize, yet my hands understood. There were no straight lines: everything flowed, as if the metal had been persuaded, not forced.

I repaired it in silence. I didn't forge it: that would have been arrogance. I simply restored its coherence, joining what time had separated. While working, I felt something moving inside me. Not a clear voice, but a pressure, an accumulation of ancient presences. I thought (and still think) that a weapon like this doesn't just hold battles, but the experience of war itself. That every death, every broken oath, every useless victory had soaked into its material. I believed that by wielding it I could access that strength, not as a gift, but as a shared burden.

I didn't name it. Names are forgotten, or lost. It simply was.

Since then, the voices have become clearer. Not always words: impulses, images, sudden desires for violence I didn't feel as mine, yet they were born inside me. Fragments of horrible acts assaulted me without warning. I didn't know if I had witnessed them, if I had committed them, or if they belonged to past lives that refused to vanish. That torment accompanies me always. I am a shell walking, and inside something is pounding, impatient. I fear the moment that something takes control. I fear it deeply. And yet, I cannot deny that, in moments of danger, that darkness gives me strength, clarity, a terrible calm.

I abandoned the valley because I understood that, if I stayed, I would eventually dissolve into it. My exit into the world was clumsy and distrustful. Towns felt alien to me, their norms incomprehensible. I felt they were watching my marked body, my prolonged silences, the archaic sword in my hands, as if I were a walking relic of something they preferred to forget. Maybe I am.

I walk without a clear destination. I seek neither glory nor redemption. I seek to understand what I am before becoming what the voices desire. And I keep moving. Not because I have faith, but because stopping would mean listening too much.

And I am still not ready for that....

Also to declare my hand to those TITS, god, I have to find them, I have to take them to my cave and have many miniMies.

Buffalo have a generally humanoid appearance, the only notable difference from humans would be their size, horns, ears, tail and hoofed feet, thanks to the influence of magic on the land and certain deities.

Zumin are the equivalent of hobbits in this world, they are quite friendly and tend to be quite short, although when mixed with races like humans or elves they can give birth to taller zumins, these have mouse ears and tails and some still retain prominent teeth.

<Victoria's Turn

There had been a while since you started your journey, you passed through various towns and met various individuals, you forged bonds that maybe in the future could be useful to you, and also gained enemies who at some point could try to harm you, but you keep moving forward clinging to that treasure you found on that bloody night, almost as if it were destiny itself.

Now you were sitting on a bench in the middle of a small town, trying to take refuge from the treacherous desert, you were looking for some work to get some money, it was then that two situations caught your attention, a noble dwarf who seemed to be carrying a heavy purse, on the other hand there was an old woman zumin trying to get the help of the town guards, apparently she was having problems with one of the creatures that sometimes manage to sneak into the towns.

Two possibilities were presenting themselves to you, one offered a bigger reward in exchange for a bigger risk, the other might have a more humble reward but at least you ensure to forge a good reputation in this place, even if you're just passing through.

You were in the middle of a town on the continent of Valia, you weren't sure of the name of this one and really it didn't matter to you at all, you simply limited yourself to observing the pedestrians with curiosity after all, for you, all of this civilization was something new. It was thus that you dedicated yourself to wandering through the city, your fleeting gaze swept over the people without really focusing on them, until suddenly your eyes landed on a woman in revealing clothes, all your attention focused on her, who was standing with a thoughtful expression in front of a striking building.

Before you could realize it you were close to her, one of your hands extended in search of grabbing one of the woman's huge breasts, which you did, drawing the woman's attention who looked at you with an expression of surprise and curiosity, it was thus that for a moment both made eye contact until she broke the silence.

Woman Buenota: I know my body is quite attractive, but that doesn't excuse you from ignoring your manners, Young man.

The woman commented while taking your hand away from her breast and proceeded to look you up and down, soon she became thoughtful and finally nodded to herself, she then looked you in the eyes, on her face was a serious expression.

Lemida: My name is Lemida, at the moment I'm looking for someone to help me on a mission, I have this job about escorting a noble, but it requires at least two people, I know we just met, but your appearance tells me you're a competent fighter, so, would you like to help me?

The woman asked while maintaining her serious expression, although your attention throughout this time had been on her breasts, you managed to hear the last thing she said, now you had to give a quick response.

Pass by the meta negrito, I have an idea I'd like to propose to you

>Mages are always bound by that hunger for power, that hunger to know, to comprehend that hidden knowledge about the world around them. Maybe the magic running through their veins has something to do with it, maybe it's the whole snob-with-an-education thing that discredits any other magic user who hasn't spent ten years in front of a book, but setting all that aside, here was Victoria lying on a bench, fanning himself with his hand and observing everything with his one uncovered eye; it wasn't anything conventional when one looks at a mage.

>Victoria, as such, isn't a mage, he can't use magic by himself, he's just a thief with a high tongue and a particular mutualistic relationship with two hands from a conflictive past, same hands that now he keeps one on his shoulder and the other holding it in his free hand, with fingers interlaced and all. The cold of the dark skin contrasts with the heat of the desert and that annoying sun in the sky.

I know, I know, stopping here isn't the best, but wandering around until the sun goes down isn't going to quench my thirst or hunger. Couldn't you use a summon food or something?

>he spoke in whispers to his friend, his shirt open and sprawled on the wooden bench. He was truly never a man of deserts and days, the heat and sweat are quite annoying, that's why he moves at night and that's why he wears a patch, removing it when darkness falls to see better in it.
>his gaze moves around, looking at the people, remembering a bit of his life path in the act. Several scams, many thefts, lots of gold, people who probably want to kill him, although also good deeds in his conscience like that time he helped a family pay their debts to the local mafia or that other one where he prevented a dwarf from being violated by some vandals. It's the duality of man, sometimes good deeds don't need to be done for a reward... and neither do bad ones, like the fact of stealing not for the coins or shiny objects, just for the sake of doing it. It was the chaotic existence of the human.

Look at that pompous fat guy showing off his bag full of coins. What are those ugly sleeves? Who, by all the damned spirits of the desert, dresses like that in the... well, desert?

>apparently a dwarf noble strolling around, his clothes and money pouch showed his status, however Victoria wasn't so keen on robbing him in broad daylight, not even using the word or spells. In a certain way this subject reminded him a bit of his father.
>on the other hand, another noisy situation was this woman, an old lady with big ears asking the guards for help regarding vermin. It's safe to say this woman has 200 grandchildren; that was the peculiarity of these little creatures, multiplying quickly.

What you say is quite racist; they aren't vermin. I don't know your people, but you shouldn't be like that just because they're different.

>there were whispers only he could hear, allowing him to communicate with the person behind these hands that soon move to button his shirt and then return to his shoulders. It was time to move; this woman could be a good means to leave thirst and hunger behind, perhaps also have a roof to spend the night, rest in safety.
>he stands up, wipes the sweat with his forearm, and walks over there with an animated gait, watching the dwarf who is leaving, or rather, observing his coin bag as if his gaze would bring them to him, as if making puppy eyes would transport them to his own pockets. It goes without saying that none of that happens.
>upon arriving with the mentioned ones, he whispers some magic words please and thank you [Friendship] and touches the woman's back with his palm, soon appearing by her side with a smile and a young but pure voice, with manners, like someone who doesn't seem to be a literal magical vagabond.

Oh, I'm sorry, fair lady. Sorry for eavesdropping on the previous conversation, but do you have a problem? I think I can help if you want.

>he would take her hand and plant a kiss of green lips on the back of it. There is this strange thing that women like being treated this way by handsome guys, that's why he has this appearance... Although being tall, having long limbs and a neck a bit longer than average clashes a bit, as much as his totally dark clothes, focusing attention only on his face and head. His fingers are also long, thin, very well-cared-for, soft hands if they weren't dry from the sand and the desert heat.

My name is Victoria, I'm a traveler, and one must earn one's bread or put a roof on one's head. Delighted, delighted. With whom do I have the honor of speaking?

>his name is also peculiar, Victoria, an harmless name, a feminine name that doesn't push anything bad in its letters, meaning, or the sound produced when pronouncing it. One has to get into the minds of others to win them over.
>anyway, he doesn't let go of her hand, though he doesn't take it with force, but with great delicacy.

Should I roll any dice for that trick or these actions?

>Tetaz.... Tetas. They are like the ones of a Steppe Mare, but rounder and bigger. My eyes were fixed, they were nailed without any courtesy or subtlety in their enormous front bumpers.

>I had walked, many moons.... Many suns. My bare feet marched under the grass, the mud and the rock until I reached this place guided by the whispers of the earth. Oh you, who knows and has no name, how have I come to conquer your desire, to achieve the hoda of being? My pupils dilate while my hand slowly approached and tried to grab her enormous and chubby female breast. But unfortunately it was stopped by the forces of destiny and carriers of those magumbos.

"......"

>I let out air from my nose, I look at her with furrowed eyebrows, while my fingers moved gracefully like worms trying to brush her nipple. I hadn't been in these strange and new lands for so long, strange people, new people, Not the only one, but there are people different from other people... They smell rich, make my pee funny.... What are they? They look small and weak, but it's not a child.

"Mitä arvellat, 'häi', onko tämä naikko minun kosketukseni arvoinen?"

"..."

"Hänet raskaaksi halajan saaja, hiuksista pois vetäjä, a naizet valehtelet."

>I whisper to my sword, but, those were very big breasts.... They were like the sugar of honey, they soaked my fingers, and sweetened my mind, and although the bees stung my face, my hand went into that jelly. I wanted to grab my claws and suck that nursing nipple and fill my stomach with skimmed milk like homemade cheese.

"...."

"¿uh?"

"Uh, en Cy Si"

>I say with a strong accent, but I didn't hear anything that she said, only I bring my other hand closer, since the first one was stopped by her grip, and then.... I put it on her shoulder, more like grabbing with some force, my other hand as well. I move it a bit forward and back, and I say with a more determined voice.

"SI"

>I keep looking at her breasts, and without more I raise my eyebrows and touch her between the legs.... EH??? Not a second is my hand there, I pull it away and look at her, with a face so confused that it better expresses what my short language cannot explain.

"Mičči sinul ei ole člena?"

>My face changes from confused to worried, to scared.... She has no pito.

>Your hands sprinkle some makeup over your face, activating the magical trick Amistad, with the security of the trick you approach the old woman Zumin, greeting her in a polite and somewhat flirtatious manner, which you notice seems to please the little old woman.
>You give your name, a name you consider atypical for a man, but that maybe is due to the fact that you have not yet traveled much of the world, she looks at you for a few seconds, lost in your eyes until finally breaking the trance.

Tinc: My name is Tinc and indeed young, I have a small problem with a slime that got into my shed, that thing is going to end up with the few vegetables I have left, could you help me please?.

>Those last words said by the old woman were delivered with a sweet and somewhat weak tone, as if the old woman wanted to appeal to pity.
>In addition you had managed to get information that you would be facing, a slime, artificial beings created during the ancient wars of which you have barely heard oral stories from some old man who seemed more crazy or drunk.
>A slime should not be much of a problem and defeating it could ensure you a few coins or a place to stay along with a hot meal.

>The woman stares at you for a few moments, her face shows a look of confusion, she looks quite confused, your behavior and the language you speak are things a woman like her has never dealt with.
>Nevertheless, the situation does not overwhelm the woman who quickly recovers her serious expression and takes your face making you look directly at her.

Lemida: I see you're new around here, the language you speak is not one she's familiar with and it doesn't seem like you know much of our language.

>The woman rummaged in the bag that was hanging on her hip and pulled out a small chain that she put around your neck, with a quick movement she placed this chain on you.

Lemida: Ready, this is a comprehension collar, this will allow us to communicate properly, now, as I told you earlier, my name is Lemida and I'm looking for someone to accompany me on a mission, would you be willing to help me?.

>Now the words of that woman were clearly in your mind, it was almost the same feeling of comprehension you had with the whispers, but much clearer and coherent.
>Lemida stood still waiting for your answer, her huge breasts were still the focus of your attention, but now there was a new interest in you, to discover what was hidden between the legs of that woman.

>My face is still confused, while the strange woman's hand holds my face. I look directly into her eyes, I don't blink, I understand little of what she says, but now at least I pay her a little attention.

":..."

"Sie olet čoma..."

>Then she puts something around my neck, the cold thin chain touches my skin, and by instinct, I move my head and my shoulders a bit due to the discomfort of having something around my neck, trying to move it a bit. I grab it with my hand and bite slightly that small medal that it has (as if it were an Olympic athlete with his medal), looking up and raising an eyebrow, but then....

"EhhH?"

>My mouth opens and drops that strange coin.... I had heard a voice. I look around, I look at my sword, I look at her, and my hand points at her, with my finger touching her forehead, it was her. She spoke, in my head, and I understood.... She presents herself with a sound, not as the name of things, horses, grass, trees and earth, but as the name of an individual, Lemida.

"Lemida..."

>She points at me.

"Yo ahhhhhhmmmm..... Grunt"

>I made up the name.

>She needed help from someone, and she asked me. I stay for a while thinking, I think a lot as you can see.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBBkt1cljf0 But then I notice something in this woman, not her tits, I still see those, but something else.... What? Sure? I... Well, it's okay.... It can work, yes, it can work.

>They have talked, they have convinced me... I will give it a chance.

"Ayudarte.... ¿Ayudaré?.... Está bien"

>I look in the direction of the sun, I don't blink, I burn a bit my retinas. I open my arms staying in a T pose, tensed my muscles and unsheathed to «her». I cut the palm of my hand and I draw myself with the blood to the Sun on my chest. The contract had been signed.

"Tehämmö!"

Lemida: It's a pleasure to meet you Grunt, I hope we can get along well.

>Once the presentation was finished you proceeded to perform a ritual as a sign that a contract had been made between the two, Lemida simply observed everything in silence, with an expression of curiosity, it didn't seem very concerned that you used your blood to paint your body.
>Once your ritual was completed the two would begin their journey towards the high residential area, while beginning their journey you asked Lemida if she was a witch, to which she looked at you with somewhat intimidating eyes.

Lemida: I am a paladin, I used to belong to a convent, but I realized that life in the cloister wasn't for me, for about five or six years now I have dedicated myself to working as an adventurer.

>The woman then focused her gaze on you and more specifically on your weapon, that old sword you picked up from that old battlefield where sometimes you could hear the screams of warriors who lost their lives who knows how many ages ago in that place.

Lemida: I suppose you are a barbarian, although I'm not sure where you come from, the language you speak is one I've never heard before and the sword you carry is designed in a way I remember seeing in old history books, could you tell me where you come from?.

an immaculate smile, sweet talk, and an annoying heat coming from the star king watching this whole situation from his privileged throne in the sky. There he was, trying to win over the old woman with his fixed gaze and honeyed words—another flatterer, a swindler. His single visible eye, ocean-colored, doesn't blink often, and when it does, it's noticeably slow and calm, as if he's always aware of his own movements.

no guard has said anything to him yet for showing up out of nowhere and acting this way, but what matters is that the woman is talking to him, explaining her current predicament; apparently, she's a victim of a resource-stealing slime.

"Tinc, it's a beautiful name if I may say so."

"(A slime, huh...)"

a slime in her shed attacking her food supplies. He knows little about them other than that, according to legend, they were once a weapon in a war long forgotten by books and people—even the longest-lived. Incomprehensible creatures. Maybe it was his turn to investigate.

on top of all that, a question creeps into his mind: "Really, is no one going to help this woman? Not even the guards? What about her family?" That puts him slightly on edge, suggesting there might be more to this than meets the eye—but being this paranoid all the time wasn't his style, so he just plays along.

"Wow, so the guards won't help you with this? Where have all the good men gone? Once again justice proves its incompetence. And for this people actually pay taxes."

no wonder men like him were running loose all over the place.

"Very well then, I'll gladly help you. Please lead the way—it shouldn't be too difficult."

with his free hand, he gestures for her to go ahead, shifting to her side but never letting go of her hand. It's not long before his darkened boots start treading the path, walking side by side with the woman.

"Are you from this village? Do you have family here, Tinc?"

in the meantime, he tries to make conversation to gather information. Later, he'll ask—though if he has to squeeze an old woman for water and shelter, well... occupational hazards. That's the life of a swindler. He won't turn his nose up at it, even if his preferences lean toward smaller, greener women—because everyone has their tastes, even him.

Padre: Kara, Kara, I need you to be quiet and listen carefully, a group of strangers has started attacking the town, I need you to take all the children and elderly to the hills and stay with them until this is over.

>Those would be the last words you would hear from your father, entrusting you with the responsibility of protecting the weak.
>Unfortunately both he and your mother, as well as several other longtime residents, were killed in minutes by those hooded figures.
>Since that tragic day you have dedicated yourself to following the trail of the hooded figures, not only seeking revenge, but also searching for a dangerous relic that these thieves stole and that your family was entrusted to protect for five generations.
>Currently you were in the small town of Vinkzlat, you had heard rumors that some hooded figures carrying a symbol similar to the one you found near one of the burned houses in the town had been seen loitering around the streets during the night.
>It was thus that you ended up in a small tavern in a remote corner of the city, which looked rather modest from the outside.
>Upon entering you were greeted by the cordial greeting of the Bartender, an old dwarf with a long and silver beard, his face reflected joy and kindness.

Bartender: Welcome to the Slime Ethical young lady, would you like to have something?

>The dwarf asked in a calm tone, while you surveyed the small establishment, noticing that there were a total of rres customers besides you, a goblin sitting at the bar, and a dwarf and a human talking at a table in a corner of the bar.

>The old woman smiles sweetly when she hears you praise her name, making a small gesture to show that she had been a bit embarrassed.
>Her sweet expression changes to a more sad and defeated one when you mention the topic of the guards and how these are not willing to help an old, helpless grandmother.

Tinc: Well, the truth is that the guards here are barely equipped to deal with humanoids, a magical creature, even a slime, can be dangerous.

>The old woman comments with a tired tone while looking at one of the guards, it was clear that this was not the first time her requests for help had been ignored.
>Her face lit up when you mentioned that you would help her, taking your hands and thanking you with some tears in her face.

Tinc: Thank you, so much, so much thank you, come on, come on, this way.

>The old woman then began to guide you, holding one of your hands, as if you were her son or grandson, on her face there was a sweet smile and a slight blush.
>Although that radiant expression faded when you asked her if she had any family in this town, she shook her head with her head down.

Tinc: My brothers are dead or miles away and my husband died before we could have children.

>You could notice the sadness on the old woman's face, it was clear that loneliness was her only companion.

Tinc: Ah sorry, I didn't want to get so gloomy all of a sudden, come, come, this way.

>Her tone became more normal, but you could tell she was still a bit sad.
>While walking together you noticed how the houses looked more and more precarious and ruined, suddenly she stopped in front of a small house, it didn't look too bad, but you could tell the passage of time.

Tinc: The shed is in the back Victoria, please be careful.

"ahh...."

>Indeed I didn't understand a thing. I didn't know what a convent, or a paladin, or anything she told me was, so I just said "Ahh". She was definitely a strange woman, talking about strange things, probably hit her head as a kid or something, but it was interesting, I had never talked to another person before.

"Why are you looking at me so much woman?"

"Do you want to rip my neck out like a wolf?"

"jajaja"

>Kekeo, I didn't understand so much the topic of direct eye contact, I associated it with hunting, like the wolf sees the deer, or like death sees the man, directly into the eyes. That's why I laughed, but I didn't show my teeth, literally a fucking chimpanzee or gorilla, I lacked understanding of things like "showing your teeth" or "staring directly" wasn't a sign of aggression, but courtesy. >Your expression doesn't change from the smile, but your tone does to point with your accusing finger that he doesn't understand the gravity of a fight against a magical creature, or simply lives in a too idyllic world... Or simply didn't care about anything, not even his own life.

That's not an excuse for not helping, they can be very dangerous creatures if they get too big or reproduce. It's not about helping you, it's about helping the general population. It's already bad not to help someone in need.

>Yes, it can get out of control and no one seems to want to move, everyone except him who accepts without problem to help her with her matter. The woman cries, thanks enthusiastically taking his hands, he removes one of his hands to wipe her tears.

Don't cry, you ruin your pretty face. I like it more when you smile.

>His index finger removes the tears in an action that he has already repeated more times than he can remember. He already had her in the bag, it was easier than he had expected and his approach was correct.
>Soon the two walk through the streets hand in hand with a lot of tranquility. Anyone who observes them would think they are grandson and grandmother or mother and son, although the height difference could say everything contrary, maybe he was the father if you see them from behind.
>Victoria speaks, asks the family question to confirm her suspicions which are correct. A lonely woman in a lonely village, it was obvious she was going to fall directly into anyone who gives her some attention.

Oh... I'm sorry to hear that.

>He acts surprised, apologetic, looking forward and leaving that in the tone of voice, but soon the woman moves the topic aside, adding he:

It's okay, sometimes it's good to remember even if it hurts. Sometimes before going to sleep I remember my parents, they died when I was just a child. I suppose that makes us alike.

>He looks at her and smiles although there is a huge sadness in his voice... A total liar pointing to empathy, there wasn't much more. His parents weren't dead, he had siblings and everything, very probably several that he doesn't know.

>The walk continues, the houses and buildings become increasingly poorer as he can see with his only uncovered eye. He observes more the people, winking, although having this single visible eye he was just blinking.
>At the end they both end up in front of a modest house, small, it was the house of a zumin after all.

Nice house. I wish I had a house.

>He continued his flattery while the woman opened the door and let him in, telling him to be careful and all that. He looks at her, her face now having something more of seriousness.

I will. You stay near the entrance, we can't be sure if the slime has moved from its place. It could be in your house right now.

>He leaves her near the entrance and enters the darkness, removing his patch to see better, especially the ceilings because he knows these creatures climb there to ambush the careless. This behavior suggests that, unlike what scholars believe, these creatures have some level of consciousness and intelligence to create this type of strategies, therefore he had to test his hypothesis.

I have acid, it shouldn't be a problem to get rid of it, right?

>He whispers to his bodyless companion who doesn't respond. Thus he moves through the house, trying to see valuable objects without manipulating anything, simply observing them and the slime. If it's not there, he moves towards the shed to enter it.

>When you comment on her intense gaze, the woman blushes and quickly turns her head forward, placing her gaze on the path.

Lemida: I apologize for my intense gaze, it's a bad habit.

>The woman answered in a embarrassed tone while continuing to walk, her gait now a bit faster, suddenly you noticed that the houses were becoming larger and more decorated.
>Finally they stopped in front of one of these enormous houses, in front of which stood a girl with blonde hair waiting by the side of a carriage.
>Upon seeing them, she smiled and approached them, she made a small bow when she was in front of you and proceeded to introduce herself.

Goldvint: My name is Goldvint, I will be your client, a pleasure to meet you.

Lemida: The pleasure is all ours, miss, we are Lemida and Grunt, at your service.

>first a blue light like a rope escapes from his hand, sticking directly to the slimy creature. Then the command with his other hand, releasing beautiful electric sparks and their characteristic sound that makes your hair stand on end. His pupils grow larger at the sight of such magical beauty illuminating the room, such fireworks only in the hands of a chosen few; it's for these kinds of things that he's a magic user, magic is a wonderful thing with infinite possibilities beyond imagination... and pretty visual effects, in addition to the pretty effects of electrocuting someone to death like this poor unfortunate who had the bad luck to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Beautiful.

>the creature screams in agony as it dies without much further mystery, leaving an unmistakable smell of burnt herbs in the air, unmistakable because he has prepared rituals and other things. Thus ends his spell as he disperses this magical electric "rope," approaching the creature to touch it with his foot and thus confirming its death. His first blood against a slime that isn't a cute girl.

I know, not bad at all.

>at that moment, the old woman's voice is heard from the entrance, and considering that the threat has been neutralized and this creature doesn't seem to have reproduced, he could now enter his own house. He crouches down to investigate the creature a bit from above, considering that it still retains its density, he thought it would turn into liquid goo or something when it died.

Investigate: 1d20 = 12

Everything's fine, the slime has been eliminated, it's just that my leg is a little numb.

>having finished and with the patch back on his eye, he jumps out of there on one leg (the one that wasn't slimed) and tries to find a chair to sit on, talking to the woman along the way.

Incredible! I didn't know slimes could secrete paralyzing poison, or even freeze things. I think they're more related to magic than I thought.

>of course, he was acting as usual, his leg wasn't paralyzed at all.

You can come in now Tinc, there's no danger anymore.

>he pulls up his pants to look at his "paralyzed" leg, revealing only dark skin with barely visible tiny hairs, pure fluff. People around here don't need much body hair, it's a thing of living in the desert and adapting over generations.

Do you mind if I stay here for a while? I don't know if this will go away soon, but I know it's not harmful.

>he taps his calf with his index finger multiple times. He was smiling as if the whole situation seemed funny to him, then he looks at the woman with some pity drawn on his face.

I... I wouldn't want to take too much advantage of your kindness, but do you have any water? Or bread? Using magic is very draining.

>he scratches his head in embarrassment. His plan is still on.

>As you approach to investigate the creature you notice a small bubble, which suddenly explodes, staining your face and clothes with sludge.
>The smell of aromatic herbs and vegetables intensified inside the shed, at the same time you noticed how the slime slowly began to lose its density, little by little assuming the form of a puddle on the floor.
>You left the shed and looked for a chair in which to rest for a moment while you checked your leg to make sure everything was in place.
>You tell the old woman that it is now safe to enter, beginning your act to gain her favor, and she crosses the entrance door.
>The old woman nods to your request for some food and calmly walks towards the kitchen.

Tinc: I think I still have some of the stew I made yesterday, by the way you should clean your face, the body of the blue slimes has sedative properties and is very effective when in direct contact with the skin.

>Said the old woman in the most concerned tone at the end as you began to feel as your face started to tingle, it seems the sedative effect of the slime was beginning to take effect.
>Suddenly a whisper reaches your ear, the hands are making it clear that you only have 3 level 1 spells left.

Tinc: Here, here's some bread and water while the stew heats up.

>The old woman then gave you a piece of bread and a jar of water, you could notice that the bread was relatively fresh due to its softness, somewhat unexpected coming from a poor old woman.

Tinc: Don't be shy and eat, but not too fast, you still have to save space for the stew.

>You could notice an expression of appreciation and gratitude on the old woman's face, it was clear that she was happy to have solved her problem and also have company.

>What can one dissect when the corpse of what you want to investigate explodes into slime? That's exactly what happens when he approaches the corpse, getting slime all over his face and clothes.

(Wretched creature. Do you know how hard it is to wash clothes and get a shower?)

>Maybe this served him a bit for his act, so without much more, and considering the corpse was losing its density, he leaves there throwing away all his acting, which he may have done more than once to get coins from some sucker. Back in the day, he had stolen a begging badge from a one-legged beggar, a badge to beg without getting arrested... Some people take advantage of begging...
>Hunger calls to him and he asks the landlady for food, more importantly the water he needs right now if he doesn't want to faint. The woman agrees and also tells him about the sedative slime, something he would have to wipe off with his forearm, though then tasting a tiny amount from his pinky finger. People did that with poisons, tasting tiny amounts to do things... What things? He doesn't remember right now.

Sure, I feel a bit strange on my face. Maybe slimes are the gateway to the new great thing, this paralysis and sedative stuff could be very useful for medicine...

>That made him put his mind in the distant past, that one that isn't even written. If these creatures were weapons of war, would that mean that long ago civilization was more advanced? A long time ago he had a "friend", a potion seller and part-time thief who talked to him about these topics, about pasts and wars, pasts and wars to a street kid who barely understood what he was told but was there to listen and be his experimental subject for new potions in exchange for food. A strange subject, but entertaining.
>On the other hand, the female whispers told him he only has three spells available, something he already knew, he could still count, he hadn't forgotten that.
>Tinc approaches the table and leaves a loaf of bread and a jug of water there, his favorites! Bread is the best food in the world, not that he has tried many things either; as for food, he only eats and drinks to keep living, taste and everything else is secondary, they weren't things he paid attention to.
Thank you very much, thank you very much Tinc.

>cannot wait, does not even wait for the woman to finish speaking before attacking the water... delicately, he must show that. He drinks directly as if from a spring, then proceeds to eat the bread taking large bites, moving his non-paralyzed leg back and forth. He hadn't paid any attention to the fresh bread or its taste; he just needed to eat, and that's what he does.
>says nothing while eating the entire loaf, only looking at the woman with a smile. Until finishing the water and bread, basic food, a feat that would take him about three minutes of silence.

Phew, thanks again, I thought I was going to die of thirst. People these days aren't very good at giving water and food.

>with his index and middle finger of his right hand, he draws an arc in the air as if they were closed eyelashes, while with his other hand he points his palm toward the ceiling, the hand near his face.

How about we go to sleep now, hm? You've done more than enough.

>blows on his palm to release a fine blue magical dust toward the woman, hopefully making her lose strength and fall asleep for a few short minutes. He had the feeling he was wasting time here, couldn't get much more out of this woman, so he goes straight to the robbery.

Sleep: 5d8 = 22 or 1d20 = 10
You tell me what I have to roll, for next time I use this.

>thus, with the woman sleeping >, he gets up, takes the sword from the wall, and retreats toward the main door, releasing a bow and some last words to the owner before leaving.

A pleasure to meet you and an even greater pleasure to do business. Good night, little mouse.

>and with that he leaves, his plan being to continue his wandering walk, but first get out of this small town that seemed to be closing in on him. Surely the world had more gold opportunities.
>on the way, he unbuttons his shirt as it was before interacting with the old woman.

>With the expertise of a professional, you take the object you consider to be of greatest value in the house, then after a small reference followed by a farewell, you leave the place calmly.
>You were walking calmly down the streets thinking about where your next destination would be, after all, in this world there were many interesting places to explore.
>Soon a soft whisper from the hands catches your attention, something about an old tower of a powerful mage lost in the winds that beat the tundras of Winla.

???: Hey, by the way, are you an adventurer?.

>A voice suddenly called out to you from behind, it was a female voice, a dwarf wearing a chainmail armor, accompanied by a zumin who seemed to be wearing some kind of ritual armor.

>a woman who had learned a great lesson while in deep sleep about not letting strange characters into her house, fortunately this time it was just a simple thief and not something worse... This one simply takes the sword and leaves without looking back, once again being greeted by the sun that burns his head. He can't wait to leave these arid lands for the first time in his life.
>he walks with a fixed direction, in absolute silence while checking the stolen sword. He looks carefully with his single eye at the vibrant sheath, his face drawing some confusion when he takes the sword by the handle with his dominant hand. Some discomfort from its shape, although soon he understands a bit when he swings a strike into the air and his wrist collides with the disc-shaped hilt.

(The sword wants me to use the shoulder instead of the wrist. What a curious artifact.)

>he didn't know much about fighting with weapons, didn't know much about fighting in general, but can compensate for this with what he has seen and a high intelligence. He had certain basics.
>he also looked a bit at the protrusion of the hilt, very likely for striking, it doesn't fit in his head that something is there just as an ornament without any other reason. He touched the same with his index finger at the same time while hanging the sheath on his belt.

(This reminds me of a woman.)

>and thinking about women of those who charge cheap and walk around in scanty clothes, his silent walk barely interrupted by his thoughts is now interrupted by cold whispers talking about a tower of a mage or something of the sort, probably talking about himself. He answers with total neutrality, as if it didn't matter what could be beyond.

Are you with me because you want me to revive you to destroy the world or something like that? Is that what you want? If so, it could be fun, we should set a course, although in exchange you have to introduce me to a mandrake when you come back to life.

>he said in whispers then laughed. It didn't matter to him to unleash an ancestral danger just because he could, just because in the end he was someone quite loyal behind the patches, the false names and the flirtatious deals. This apparently dead woman behind these hands has helped him a lot in developing himself, he didn't mind returning the favor even if it put his life in danger, danger either from this woman or from external danger.
>his laughter is joined by a word from behind, a feminine question that makes him stop his walking but still laughing quietly.

Do I look like one, after all?

>he quickly buttons his shirt and turns around wearing a very stupid smile, one that was already looking for a way to use this person, a dwarf. A woman dwarf, of course shorter than him, wearing a chainmail and being followed by a rodent friend with strange armor, maybe it was a paladin. Both short.
>this woman approaches him with her hand extended, he takes it while with the other he has the sword from the plate hilt like a great general posing for a portrait. Instead of a typical handshake, he points to kiss her hand as always, so small and soft that it feels like it never happened, although at least now he had hydrated lips.

Victory to your beautiful lady, and yes, one could say that I am, a wanderer rather.

>this time he lets go of her hand, the dwarves are a bit different when it comes to things like this and reading the situation he also didn't want to receive a punch or something like that, nor did he know if this zumin was his partner. The thief should see, there are people you have to look at more carefully.

Who is the honor of speaking with?

Kilt: My name is Kilt and this is Mao'ik, we have a job where someone else would be useful.

>The dwarf remains calm while pulling out a sign from her pocket, to catch a young cockatriz, a rather dangerous creature with a paralyzing gaze and an extremely toxic venom.

Kilt: It sounds dangerous, but believe me, it will be easy, after all young cockatrices are more or less my size, plus the payment won't be bad, twenty-five gold coins, what do you say?.

>The dwarf keeps looking at you with a small confident smile on her face, waiting for your response, the zumin behind her doesn't sound very convinced but doesn't seem willing to raise his voice.
>To your ears the soft whisper of the hands returns, mentioning to you how various parts of the cockatrices can be used to prepare various potions and elixirs quite useful, although it also warns you not to underestimate the creature.

>Background:
3.
>Biography:
Kirin was born in a small lost settlement between the tundras, where the cold is unforgiving and life is hard to sustain. From her earliest years, it was clear that there was something strange about her. While other children learned to fear falls, beasts, or the breaking ice, Kirin simply… didn't break.
She fell from the top of the pines with nothing but dust on her clothes, was run over during childhood races and got up confused, asking if she had won, even survived an attack from a pack of wolves without injuries that could explain it. What would have been a miracle for anyone else was a sign... to her people. They called her a curse.
Soon came the whispers: That she wasn't human, that she was the reincarnation of something dark, that her existence would bring ruin. No one could prove it, but no one wanted to risk being wrong. Over time, fear turned into rejection, rejection into isolation, even her own parents started to look at her as if she were a stranger, Kirin didn't understand why.
Convinced that others were right, she believed she had to try harder, if she helped enough, if she was useful enough, if she never complained, maybe they would stop fearing her. So, she dedicated her life to serving, carrying more weight than she should, accepting dangerous tasks, enduring the cold and fatigue without protest, never refusing, never asking why, but never being enough.
At twenty-three years old, when stories about an ancient prophecy began to circulate more strongly, one that spoke of the destruction of the settlement, the village priest, weakened and fearful, decided to act.
He called Kirin and asked her for one last favor: To travel to the capital city in search of a man who possessed a medicine capable of saving his life. She accepted without hesitation. Before leaving, the priest gave her a sword and armor, assuring her they would protect her on the journey. She received them with gratitude, not knowing they were nothing more than ritual garments destined for sacrifices. That day, she left.
In her heart, there was no resentment, only a faint hope: That this time, when she returned with the cure, she would finally prove that she wasn't a curse, that she could be someone good.
Now, Kirin travels through a world she doesn't understand, guided by a mission that never existed, she is naive, trusting, incapable of easily recognizing malice. Yet, she still helps those who need it, without questioning, without stopping, because if she stops trying... then everything they said about her could be true.

> For many moons now you have abandoned your hometown, crossing the cruel blizzards of the most central regions of Winla with the hope of being accepted by your people once you manage to fulfill the task the priest entrusted to you.
> Your destination was the capital, the foundry city Warmesherz, a place you had barely read stories about, but you weren't really sure where to go, as you weren't given a map when you left the village; you had simply relied on instinct.
> Thus, one day you came across a group of people being attacked by a pack of Wargs; you didn't hesitate to help in the battle against the beasts, managing to scare them away without anyone getting hurt.
> The leader of the group, a hogorco with a somewhat intimidating face, thanked you and then invited you to his base, saying he would introduce you to his boss.
> Since then, you became a member of the Yellowhand criminal gang, helping in the robberies carried out on the roads near the base, a system of caves hidden under a cliff.

Mor'laf: Kirin, come here girl, it's time to eat.

> Mor'laf, the gang's cook, told you, a dwarf with a calm temperament who is always smiling, although you know for sure that this is because he is always a bit drunk.
> With his typical smile, he hands you a tray with a portion of mashed potatoes, elk meat, and some sweet bread, a perfect meal for a cold climate like this.

Mor'laf: You already know where to get something to drink, girl, now enjoy your meal, we need you strong after all, Hahahahaha!!.

> With your food tray, you headed towards the barrels; you had mead, milk with brandy, and wine available to drink. Once you chose your drink, you sat at your usual table.

Jik: Hey Kirin, can you give me some of your meat? I'll let you suck my tits.

> Jik was a small and vulgar goblin, skilled with knives and lockpicking, as well as pickpocketing and groping; she was accustomed to making proposals like this all the time.

Lika: Jik, why don't you go ask the old dwarf for more meat instead? I'm sure he'd accept your proposal immediately.

> Lika was a Buffalto with an affable and patient character; her calm face hid a fearsome strength and a sadism she managed to conceal, yet she was very good to you.

Kolrt: You know well that the last time Jik made that proposal to the old man, it ended in something the little one prefers to forget.

> Kolrt was a young hogorco with a cheerful character and a quick mind, skilled with a shield and sword; you often practice with him, as he always seeks to improve his technique.

Caleik: Kirin, I have a small job in a nearby village, do you want to accompany me in case something goes wrong?.

>sometimes this kind of greeting towards lowborn ladies gives this kind of results, surprised looks and general confusion from the present, even discomfort, but with the act, besides appearing/demonstrating a noble past, it also showed appreciation for the woman and all that manipulating people stuff. Still not everyone understood this message, so the discomfort lingers in the air for a moment until it's set aside for the introductions of the strangers.
>Mao'ik and Kilt, Kilt and Mao'ik. He looks at the zumin and nods smiling, catching better details of his person. A quiet type.

It sounds good.

>the introduction ends with the halfling pulling out of his pocket a paper, a sign, one of those that adventurers take from a job board. They had to get the younger ones to do something... and the not so young ones too. He pulls out that these two were adventurers, he had already seen many like these.
Do gremios and all that exist in this world?

Let me see that.

>with his permission he takes the sign and looks at it more closely, reading that it's about finishing off nothing more nor nothing less than a young cockatoo. On his journey, besides the stories of the same, he had come across one of them, big, adult, although always from the safety of a distance, simply watching. A majestic creature indeed.

>his distrust arises and he thinks maybe these two want to rob him, reason why he's selling this job as too easy. Maybe there had never been a job and this is their modus operandi, attracting any idiotic adventurer to rob him... and probably kill him.

It sounds very good for me, I'm a bit short on money. I'm in.

>he closes his eye and smiles, returning the job sign. He accepts because he's stupid like those adventurers.

Go ahead, lead the way.

>so he invites them finally to leave and get away from that house, he had already spent too much time around the vicinity of his crime.

>Upon leaving the village, a goblin approaches them, her face showing relief.

Vak: It's good you found someone else, no one paid attention to me here, by the way, my name is Vak, it's a pleasure to work with you.

>The goblin then extended her hand to you as a greeting, a radiant smile on her face.

Kilt: Did you buy everything we need, Vak? Remember that was the task I assigned you.

>After finishing introducing herself to you, the goblin looks at Kilt and nods quickly, proceeding to show her a small bag.

Vak: Four minor healing potions, four mandrake leaves, and raw meat to attract prey, I also bought something to set up a trap.

Kilt: Good, that should be enough to finish that thing, let's go, its lair is about an hour from here.

>The group then headed directly towards the young cockatrice's lair, having to cross the savanna. During the journey, you chatted with the group, trying to get to know them a little better. You noticed that Vak was the most talkative.
>Finally, Kilt gave the signal to stop. The whole group fell silent while the dwarf observed the place.

Kilt: The cockatrice's burrow is supposed to be around here somewhere. Vak, you start setting up your trap, the rest of us will try to locate this thing's burrow.

>So Kilt and Mao'ik began to search the surroundings. It was a small clearing with some large rocks around it, a perfect spot for a creature like the cockatrice.

>The conversation? Very short, but at least she was inside the supposed job by the dwarf's non-verbal response. She just smiles and walks, the dwarf and him following her without saying much.
>Victoria looks at the town, the houses, walking behind everyone and holding the hilt of her sword. Sometimes she forgot there were others, people, thinking beings living their normal lives.

(There are mind-reading spells, right? I wonder what's out there.)

>And so, between houses and roads, they leave the town that perhaps had a name, only she never cared enough to learn it. Right here, a small green woman awaits them and approaches to speak to them, apparently another member of the strange group, a goblin.

(Oh, look at you! You're a cutie!)

My name is Victoria and I'll be accompanying you today, a pleasure, it's always a pleasure to meet someone so pretty.

>She refrains from doing something silly like crouching down to crush her cheeks with both hands or pulling them, she has a weakness for small beings... and also some kind of strange fetish... Maybe she was just attracted to the unconventional.
>He does his usual thing, kissing hands and this time giving a small bow, smiling immaculately and appearing friendly. He must bend down quite a bit to kiss her small hand.
>After the presentation with Vak, Kilt the leader asks about an errand he had given the goblin, which she had indeed carried out. She shows the items in a bag, Victoria keeping the mandrake leaves.

...

>As she knew from some inherited knowledge from her friend, there was the plant, then there was the creature. She was curious, perhaps a little morbid, she wanted to meet a talking plant like a mandrake/alraune. A plant that can think and isn't just there being a plant? A "living" plant? A scholar like him must know all its mysteries.
>Putting aside her thoughts and all that, they had an hour's journey on foot according to the dwarf.

An hour?

>Yes, an hour's walk through the savanna under the sun, her worst enemy. She'd have to sweat buckets if she wanted to get paid or rob these people if the job isn't real.
>Without much more trouble, the walk begins, him walking behind everyone and humming a song >>4077 that he might have heard somewhere else.
>the surroundings are wild; animals roam about without disturbing the travelers, and they don't disturb the animals either. The trek leaves him sweating within minutes, so he unbuttons his shirt completely, revealing smooth skin, though luckily his clothes were loose enough to let air circulate freely. The color black in his attire has nothing to do with the heat—that's a myth. Also, besides humming, he talked with the group members, though mostly keeping his distance because he didn't really care much about people; relating to others wasn't his main goal in life, especially not with them. At least the goblin talked a lot; it's good to listen and gather information. After all, he's not someone interesting to talk to. What kind of things could an asocial young man like him even talk about?

>an hour of hellish suffering ends when they reach a rocky zone and the order to halt the march is given. Victoria goes behind a rock in the shade to recover, breathe, and wipe the sweat from her face. Her black sleeve still smelled a bit of herbs and vegetables from that gelatinous creature earlier, which will push him to take a bath and wash his clothes.

(I'd rather be attacked by a desert animal at night than travel under this sun.)

>he sits down and fans air onto his face. He needed water again, the source of life that, unfortunately, he can't do without. Living beings are addicted to water.

Damn druids and clerics who can create water while I can't.

>he muttered discontentedly.
>the dwarf spoke, mentioned the plan, and he nodded, taking a deep breath in an attempt to regain his strength. He had fainted multiple times while wandering these lands due to lack of water, though by some twist of fate he always survived.

I... I'll stay here. I'm not good at scouting around, so I'll watch your backs from here.

>it wasn't a great idea to leave the goblin alone, so better split the group into two. Probably if the cockatrice were to attack, it would go for the smaller, loner one... Maybe it's watching them right now and they haven't noticed...
>anyway, he stays sitting there recovering while the other two leave >, soon standing up to brush the dust off their clothes and move toward the small goblin.

Stay still for a moment.

>with his hands and arms, he forms a square that glows yellow as he whispers something unknown. A square, a cube in reality—the geometry of evil in the world, a prison... or something like that, he thought. Finally, he breaks the gesture with his hands and crouches to touch her shoulder, transferring the magic to her clothes and revealing himself as a magic user. Then he stands up again.

There you go. Be sure that creature will try to escape or attack you, so be careful.

>there wasn't much left to do except stay close to the goblin to watch her back and hope she doesn't get gutted by a venomous cassowary. He wasn't entirely evil.

Kilt: Remember that the cockatrice can only paralyze a single target with its gaze, so we must always take advantage of the numerical superiority and do not look it directly in the eyes, if you do not want to be its preferred prey.

>Once this information was delivered, Kilt and Mao went to explore the area while you stayed, using the excuse that you would watch Vak's back.
>Having rested a bit, you stood up and conjured mage armor on Vak, your weakness for goblins was becoming noticeable, the little one blushed and thanked you for the extra protection.
>Once I finished setting the trap, the two of them went to hide behind the rock where you had been resting, after a few minutes Kilt and Mao rejoined you.

Kilt: We couldn't find the cockatrice, it's most likely out hunting.

Vak: I already set the trap and used the cockatrice's favorite meat, chicken, so now we just have to wait.

>Vak whispered confidently while looking at Kilt, who seemed quite confident in the trap set by her companion.
>And so the group remained in silence, hidden behind the rock, patiently waiting for their prey to fall into the trap.

???: Coakkkkk.''

>Suddenly, the loud screech of an injured creature caught their attention, and peeking out, they saw that the cockatrice had been wounded by the trap, one of its legs being quite injured.

Kilt: This is our chance, I'll distract that thing, I'm counting on you to finish it off.

>The dwarf ran towards the creature, brandishing her axe, while the zumin seemed to be preparing a spell and Vak was loading his bow.
>Soon the creature's attention was focused on Kilt, who had a very serious expression, soon Mao cast the spell he was preparing, which was a blessing for Kilt.
>Vak, for his part, shot an arrow at the creature, missing in the process.

>the sun was beating down hard. It wasn't too late, it wasn't too early, it was just the right time to kill a poisonous chicken under a scorching sun, and here they were giving orders and information about the strange creature. Nothing they didn't already know, but it's always good to review the important info.

Understood, captain.

>he said in a serious tone but with a smile, giving him the title he deserves.
>the two characters with strange names leave them there to hunt the creature, taking advantage of Victoria to do absolutely nothing. She watched the trap preparation and nothing else, consisting of white meat heated by the sun from the journey next to a trap. She seems to know what she's doing, must have experience.

(She must be a hunter, the bow and arrows must be for something.)

>a bow and small arrows for someone small. What must it feel like to be so short in stature? She didn't think much about this question in her head because she stood up and moved to cast a spell on her clothes, ending up with that classic yellowish dust that you notice when paying attention. Her warning words weren't nice, but for some reason they made the girl blush, maybe just the gesture of spending a spell on her considering how mages are.

...

>did she think he was hitting on her or something? His smile had disappeared for a brief moment because of the thought, but in the end he just played along because they were already here. Maybe he could pocket the goblin to steal from her later.

Don't go undressing too soon, the magic will dissipate if your clothes leave your body.

>he winked with a playful smile on his face, only that with the patch it gave the impression he was blinking.
>in this exchange he heard the whispers that, as was customary, spoke to him about the baseness of these inferior races, sometimes even about humans, but he didn't agree with almost anything. Goblins were enigmatic beings, intelligent and certainly connected to magic, it was something he could feel being near one... and their women are pretty and he can carry them easily in his arms without muscle, what more could one ask for?
>anyway both returned to the rock that covered them from the sun, him sitting on the ground to continue resting. Spending so much magic is exhausting.

...

>sometimes he looked at the horizon, sometimes he looked at the goblin with curiosity, sometimes he took a stone and threw it as far as possible. There was no conversation, aside from Victoria's mask there wasn't much of this star-crossed individual.

So... are Mao and Kilt your friends or did you just find them like me? At first I thought they were going to rob me, but they seem like good people, just a little... arid.

(Well, that could perfectly describe me too.)
>very dry, maybe very professional, there was no reason to exchange more than necessary, although with the little time they've already been here you can get an idea of the kind of people they are. Sure the dwarf likes to drink a lot and party, and the other one surely likes gambling and little women, the quiet ones are always like that.
>he spoke while stroking his left hand on his shoulder and gazing at the horizon, soon the sounds of people approaching made him react.

Speaking of.

>both, the dwarf and Zumin return with bare hands, signaling they haven't found the creature. What a pity.

Not even its nest? An egg from one of those must be worth quite a bit.

>he stands up and once again brushes off the dust, staying silent to let the goblin speak about the trap, everyone confident it will work, only needing to wait.
>his suspicions grew a bit, but soon faded. They weren't here waiting in the heat just to steal a sword from some guy.

...

>and once again he had to wait, this time in silence because otherwise the creature wouldn't approach.
>...
>long minutes, short minutes, what matters is that the approach of something is heard, and from that approach a scream of horror that makes them look from the corner. There it was, the chicken/reptile/wyvern creature, a very strange combination to be honest; as low as a large beer barrel but quite wide due to its wings. Its leg was injured by the trap so it won't be able to escape easily, well thought out by the goblin.

Is that a male? It has a crest.

>and speaking of the animal's sex, what exactly was this? Where had it come from? Nothing more than another military weapon from ancient times, he knew, he had been told in whispers, but could something like that really be created and, moreover, made to reproduce? Those before the Devastation were playing at being Gods and they succeeded. Damn it, he also wanted to be a God and play with life and death, creating beings and resurrecting the dead.

(Now I want a homunculus.)

>but back to the important thing, the dwarf is the first to move after giving the plan, followed by Victoria as the second line of defense for the other two.

Let's finish this, I want a good lemonade before I die of thirst.

>he wasn't serious.
>he draws his sword, and running his index finger along the spine of the blade, he begins casting electricity that adheres to the blade before launching the electric rope toward the cockatrice's neck. He didn't like having to use his last spell, but he also didn't want to risk getting too close to this bug or prolonging the fight unnecessarily.

>You decided to advise the little goblin not to take off her clothes for a while if she didn't want the effect of the spell to disappear, she nodded silently, now a bit more focused on the trap.
>While Vak was preparing the trap, you decided to ask him about his relationship with Kilt and Mao, after all, for you it didn't seem like they were very close.

Vak: I've known them for a couple of years, we used to go hunting together in our hometown, one day a few weeks ago we simply decided it was time to see what the world had to offer and we just started our journey.

>He commented with a small smile on his face, it was clear he seemed to appreciate the other two members of the group.

Vak: Kilt is a bit of a brute and it takes a while to gain his trust, as for Mao, he's always been very shy, barely even knows his favorite drink is milk with honey, besides that he likes to research about magic.

>Suddenly the sound of footsteps warned them of the arrival of the rest of the group, with you asking if they really didn't find anything of the creature.

Kilt: Some crap, some bones, feathers and scales, that thing is still too young to lay eggs.

>After this short exchange the group dedicated themselves to waiting for the arrival of the creature, which fell into the trap set by Vak.
>Kilt manages to land a hit on one of the wings of the cockatoo, causing some damage and making the creature scream in pain, while Vak launches another arrow, this time hitting the creature's neck.
>Soon Mao also joins the attack, conjuring sacred fire, but the cockatoo managed to dodge the magical trick.
>Finally you join the battle launching your last spell, but thanks to the creature's nervousness at being at a disadvantage it allowed it to evade by pure luck the rope.

Kilt: Don't let small mistakes affect you, we've got this thing in the bag.

>While Kilt said this you noticed how the cockatoo's chest slightly inflated, the creature was preparing to launch its poisonous breath.
>But the wound caused earlier by Vak became noticeable, as when inflating its chest and throat it caused the arrow to fall out of the wound, allowing the poisonous gas to escape through the small wound.

Kilt: Come on, this thing is about to die, let's hit it hard.

>Kilt's voice sounded much more aggressive and strong than before, at the same time you noticed how his muscular mass began to become more pronounced, his eyes turned red and he let out a roar worthy of the most fearsome beasts.
>Kilt charged again at the creature now with a somewhat surprising vigor, while Mao and Vak also began to prepare their next attack.

https://youtu.be/CFyyGcARA0Y>I walk behind the Uga Wuga, watching the construction of wood and stone, becoming increasingly ostentatious, I didn't understand the reason for it, why decorate so much? Well, I guess it wasn't that bad, it was like painting the body.

>Then we stop in front of the largest of all, although I stretch my arms, I couldn't cover it completely (Yes, I'm stretching my arms even though this comment was a thought). Then my gaze lowers and I notice another person, small, without Bungatruncas, just blonde hair, it wasn't fun. Next to her, another house, but smaller, and with 4tro suns on each corner.... and a horse, although this one looked much more stylized, than the sturdy and short horses of the steppe.

"UHm??"

>I crouch down and look at her directly, my eyes locking onto hers. As I see her smile, or walk, I keep looking at her directly without making any gesture, and when she leans down, I look at the ground to see if something fell out of her, and then I look at Lamidas, with a confused face almost asking her what she's doing.

>I ignore whatever they're doing and approach the horse of the carriage, and look at it directly. I'm in front of it, and I want to get closer with my hand, but... slowly. Horses are nervous, at least the ones I know, so I see if it lets me touch its neck, the least threatening area for them.

>Whether it goes well or not, I crouch down and observe those circles at the corners of the construction (the wheels of the carriage). I sit on the ground, and rest my hands on them for a while, until I see that they go into that wooden box. I look at them from down here, and I stand up... I get into the carriage, if I enter through the door.

>Since you didn't really understand things like etiquette or formal introductions, your mind focused on whatever caught your attention—the carriage.
>First you examined the horse, which appeared much more docile than those in your homeland; its body was somewhat leaner but larger overall. Then you began analyzing the carriage wheels, which to you resembled suns.

Lemida: Grunt, it's time to go.

>Lemida said calmly, poking her head through the carriage door.
>Once you managed to pass through the door frame, the carriage door was closed and the journey began. You sat on one side of Lemida, while across from you sat Miss Goldvint, accompanied by a massive Buffalto dressed in a maid's uniform.

Goldvint: I must travel to the elven capital, the fortress of Srebrnycortez. The journey is somewhat dangerous, especially with the recent surge in criminal activity. That's why the two of you will serve as my bodyguards. The job ends when we return to this very spot. Understood?

>Lemida nodded, while you couldn't help but feel amazed at how comfortable the carriage seats were, and by the sweet floral scent filling the air.
>The golden interior decorations seemed curious to you—many were shaped like creatures you'd never seen before.

Lemida: Don't worry, Miss Goldvint. I promise I'll do everything in my power to make this journey as safe as possible.

>Soon your attention shifted to the horned woman sitting beside the tiny Goldvint.
>She wasn't just much taller than you and Lemida—her breasts were also considerably larger than the white-haired girl's, though her clothing was far more modest compared to your "companion's."

Servant: Can I help you with something, sir?

>Her voice was surprisingly soft, somewhat unexpected given her massive size. Her face wore a gentle expression as she smiled.

>Horns..... and tits. I didn't know what the other two were talking about, but ever since I entered this cart and sat down, my body leaned slightly forward, unable to stop staring with intense curiosity at the huge, horned, busty woman in front of me... She's massive. Hugging her body while sleeping would definitely bring warm nights.

>I scratch my jaw while pretending to examine the decorations around me, trying to hide that I'm actually sneaking glances at this big-titted giantess. Then I look at her horns... Horns? Are they a helmet? Sometimes I'd grab Yak skulls and wear them as helmets, running naked under the light of the mother moon—but this felt different.

"...."

"Čoma sarvet, niänel suuret tissit oma."

>Slowly, without taking my eyes off her, I raise my hands and touch my head, as if searching for my own horns. I touch my temples, my forehead, my skull... Nothing. I look confused, then use my two fingers to mime having horns.

"...."

>Maybe this gesture could be interpreted as some racist insult or who knows, but Grunt didn't know that. It was more like when a Chinese person shows up in an African tribe and the kids mimic slanted eyes because it's something new, curious, funny—not out of hidden motives or discrimination, just childish curiosity.

"You are big."

>After that, completely oblivious to personal space, I slowly stretch out my hands trying to reach her antlers, grasping them gently with both hands. First, I tug very slightly, testing whether they're fake—careful not to hurt her. Then, noticing they're firmly attached to her head, I let go, look at my hands in awe, and touch the shoulder of Big-Titted Lamidas to share my incredible discovery. Then I look at the Cow Girl and say bluntly:

"You are incredible."

Lemida: Please forgive Grunt, apparently he was raised in the cursed fields away from society, I had to give him a compression collar to be able to talk to him.

>The servant responds with a warm smile and makes a relaxed gesture with one of her hands.

Kieltra: No problem, by the way my name is Kieltra, I hope we get along.

>The servant adjusted her hair, on her face she still had that gentle expression and a calm smile.

Kieltra: By the way sir Grunt, my people are known as Buffaltos, we are considered peaceful but we also have our temper.

Goldvint: She's not lying sir Grunt, maybe you don't notice, but Kieltra is scary when she's angry.

>The servant just laughed softly, before taking something out of a basket she was carrying beside her, a smell you had never experienced hit your nostrils, your mouth began to salivate suddenly.

Kieltra: Soon it will be time for snack, take some egg and ham sandwiches, as well as milk with honey, help yourself.

>Kieltra then gave you a box in which there were some strange square-shaped things, in the middle they had a line, their smell was appetizing, it reminded you a bit of the smell of roasted boar you ate occasionally, the few times you had access to fire.
>Then you looked at the bottle containing a white liquid with golden streaks, when you opened it you sensed a sweet aroma that reminded you of how you should run away from furious swarms after tearing them apart for some honey.

Kieltra: Don't be shy sir Grunt, there's more food in case that isn't enough for you.

>What did she take from all of this? That these three are from some village and that the goblin likes them, plus some personal traits of the two who are not here right now.

Aha, good to know.

>Mentions almost indifferent to the last mentioned. Again, knowing people wasn't one of her priorities, she just bet on herself regarding the personality and tastes of others, and having a third party around telling mysteries takes away all the fun.

>The battle against the reptile chicken had started in a fatal way, the entire line behind failing their attacks except for Vak, some of those attacks costing too much. Renewable resources, yes, but not in a moment.

>The creature had dodged her electricity because it was agitated, Victoria roaring in discontent while looking at the sky as if the culprit was there already, not just for this error, but for everything bad in her life and existence. She blamed her companions for agitating it, for her own mistake, but there was Kilt to balance it out because she was the only one who managed to hurt it decently. This same one doesn't let them fall for the failures at the same time that the creature tries to spit out poisonous gas that seeps through the wound on her neck.

(Come on, stay still so I can kill you.)

>Without thinking much or paying attention to her companions' movements, she aims at the creature with her dominant hand and snaps her fingers to launch a acidic bubble toward the wound on its neck. Just now I realized you sent me a turn

I sweetly remembered the words of my dead father, although lately they felt heavier. I knew he was a good man, and that's why I wouldn't agree that he would have spent all these years looking for them. Or maybe I would? It was hard to know, well, my mother certainly wouldn't but...

— ...

>My thoughts are interrupted when I arrive at a bar. I didn't really like these places, but here rough people and travelers gathered, travelers who may or may not have a rumor, that may or may not be related to the bandits, who may or may not... Perhaps lead me to them or something similar, because at this point I was somewhat desperate.

Of course, asking for milk wasn't common, no, definitely not common. But I had bad experience with alcoholic drinks, which is why I didn't like coming to bars. But I was desperate.
>While waiting for the friendly bartender to serve me, my gaze focused on other customers, a goblin, a dwarf, and a human. Maybe I should talk to them, but suddenly speaking would be strange. I had to come up with a common topic that would lead to a conversation...
>Swallowing saliva I approached them with a stiff step.

— Hello!

>I hoped something would come to mind at the moment of speaking, but nothing.

Vak: By a demon, what's wrong with my aim today?

>The goblin begins to prepare another arrow, while Mao casts a new spell against the creature.

Mao: Burn in sacred fire!

Kilt: Well, job done, Vak, get the ropes from the bag, we have to tie up this bird.

>Once the creature's corpse had been completely packed, it is tied to Kilt's back, she makes a gesture with her hand and the group begins their journey back to the village.

Kilt; Let's go to the village to turn in the head for the reward, then we'll sell the body to some butcher to get some more money and we'll head to the next town.

>Added the silent zumin, you could tell that magic was something that interested him.

Vak: How about we go for a drink once we turn everything in?

>The Goblin asked in a calm tone as she walked beside you, she took out a canteen and took a sip before passing it to you.

Vak: Drink some, I can tell from your face that you're thirsty.

>the tip of the blade enters and tears the flesh with ease. He felt something strange in his chest in the process, an indescribable, bad feeling. It's one thing to obliterate someone with a fireball or lightning from afar, and another to get up close and personal, stabbing and cutting flesh. Even though the creature is dead, he didn't feel entirely good about doing these things.

...

>out of the corner of his eye, he could see the dwarf approaching and observing his macabre ocular spectacle, but since she says nothing, he doesn't either, he simply continues with his task until he finishes and puts those eyes in his pocket.
>after doing all that, he proceeds to help the goblin in silence, adjusting her body and head on the ropes that would go on the dwarf's back. Yes, she truly has strength that he can only praise but not aspire to; he is malnourished. Not much time passes until they begin to walk back under the relentless sun of this biome he detests so much, and as a distraction, he draws his blade to look at it carefully, as well as clean it with his dark sleeve.

(Easy work.)

>he cut through the air until he heard the dwarf woman's words, paying attention to what she mentioned. He found the thing about the butcher curious, so much so that he had to ask with a face that showed what he felt.

Is this thing even edible? My grandmother used to say that eating it turned you into a statue or something like that.

>he pauses his march and gets behind her to push his index and middle fingers into the cockatrice's wound, drawing some blood which he brings to his nose to smell and observe more closely.

Old superstitions, I guess.
You should ask for its gas bladder when you're butchering it, it can be distilled to create paralyzing poison if you're interested.

>he tested the texture of the blood between his fingers with his thumb in circular motions until he wiped them with his sleeve once more, returning to walk in front to hear what the woman had to say next. The idea of traveling with them is put aside a bit when he hears Mao's compliments, smiling at the minimal approval that someone (alive) gives him, immediately listening to the cold whispers telling him not to trust these people or anyone too easily. It's always good to hear someone point out your talents, even with the disaster of the previous fight, so he just laughs, flattered.

It's nothing, really nothing, I'm just an apprentice in this magic thing, besides it's a bit hard to aim with only one eye.
>gave his excuse, which wasn't much of an excuse, then continued after a short pause.

I wish I had more spells for combat, but there isn't much time to rest here.

>sheathed his sword and, with a hand on the back of his neck, tilted his head left and right, recalling the spells spent on putting an old woman to sleep, obliterating a slime, and giving armor to a goblin. A mage's life is not easy.
>at this, Vak proposed the idea of going for a drink once this was over, to which he replied without paying much attention.

A lemonade with plenty of mint would suit me well, yes, it's a very good drink where I come from.

>he glanced at the canteen out of the corner of his eye down there, those green and goblin lips could be hydrated, but he didn't pay much attention either. He then heard the goblin and continued to ignore them, thinking they weren't talking to him, then looked down. They were offering him a drink with all good intentions.

...

>he took the bottle but hesitated, observing the short green woman. He didn't hesitate exactly because something bad would happen to him for drinking, but rather because his interactions with others were based on exchanges, theft, or deception; it was very rare for someone to offer him things like this out of the blue. Letting out a sigh, he proceeded to drink the minimum to avoid dying, the minimum to endure the walk, returning the canteen shortly after because otherwise he would drink it all... whatever was in there.

I suppose I'll have to buy you a drink later... Thanks, dwarf.

>she nodded and smiled, looking forward. Well, besides him, people could also do good deeds once in a while.
>as help or in an attempt to return the favor, he paused his walk to stand behind the goblin and look at her arrows in her quiver, the ones she had shot not long ago; normal arrows, nothing out of the ordinary for a shooter. Bending his posture slightly, he brought his index finger towards them, touching them one by one, drawing a rune, and with his eyes closed, he whispered the spell Repair. A reinforcement, arrows tend to wear out faster than anything else, though he also cast it on the bow.

I... I'm traveling to dreamlands. Is it okay if I accompany you? I promise not to be a bother... Not too much.

>and as he returned to his place, he resumed the idea of traveling together, while keeping the reasons why he wanted to travel to cold lands to himself. He didn't find the idea of traveling with others unpleasant, although it would be the first time he traveled with someone (alive).

>The dwarf and the goblin let out a laugh when they hear your comment, both walk while laughing, Mao laughs a little too.
>The smell of iron invades your nose after bringing your finger covered in blood to it, but you also manage to notice another aroma, a somewhat sweet aroma, almost herbal in nature, you also notice that the blood is already quite thick, probably produced by the heat.

Mao: Cockatrices are edible, they don't taste very different from chicken, although there is a creature whose meat can turn you to stone, basilisks.

>The Zumin comments in a calm tone, so the group continues on their way and the conversation flows, you mention how the cockatrice's gas bladder could be useful for making poisons.

Vak: Some poisoned arrows wouldn't hurt me.

>After Vak's comment, the conversation focuses on you and how you're not bad at magic at all.

Mao: That's true, I only have two more spells, so I hope we don't run into anything on our way back.

>Soon Vak would offer you water, which you accepted, taking what you thought was necessary, once you finished you returned the canteen to Vak, who threw it to Kilt with a quick movement.
>After taking a drink, you decided to return the favor to Vak, so you got behind her to prepare a trick.

Vak: Hey, what are you doing?, do you want to see my ass?

>The goblin asked shamelessly, before realizing you were drawing runes on her arrows, she curiously watched the whole process.

Vak: Thanks, I don't know what you did, but I'm not going to question a mage either.

>After this, you proceed to indicate where you want to go, asking if you can travel with the group.

Kilt: Of course, a mage is never a bad thing, besides we are also going south, we intend to take a boat to Valia.

>Kilt comments in a calm tone while continuing to walk, a relaxed expression on his face.

>After receiving the explanation from the no-penis men, I remain confused, observing Jak the woman and the other one... Were they family or something? They didn't look alike at all, nor did they smell even remotely similar. I didn't understand the relationship between these two, and I squinted a little as I judged/thought.

>But that didn't last long because when food was placed in front of me, my eyes widened like saucers and my gut rumbled... It had been a long time since I had eaten anything, it hadn't been a good season this time, and without many manners, I grabbed one of those square pieces the size of a rodent.

"...........:"

>I look it up and down.... I would need a hundred to satisfy myself... I put it in my mouth and.... Delicious. It didn't fulfill its function of filling me up, but for the first time, I was eating something that tasted "strong," in the sense that it had flavor, not satiety. This was only for people who don't need to eat to survive, who have so much food that they can afford to choose things that taste good and don't fulfill the function of nourishing as well.

>I grab another and pour a little honey on top of it.... I looked around while doing so, expecting something to sting me, but nothing... Eating so easily, without running, without hunting, without being harmed, really lost its appeal, it could taste like heaven, but what for?

"uhggg..."

>So for laughs, I take out or try to unsheathe the little sword I brought and stab a sandwich, like mini stabs at a mouse.... Nothing.

"(It's not the same...)"

>maybe he had said something foolish with that lie about his grandmother, hence why everyone was laughing, or maybe it was indeed a funny comment. He paid attention to the blood, immediately catching the intense iron that broke and mixed with the thick red of a body in the heat of the sun.

(What is this?)

>besides the metallic red, he could perceive a certain herbal scent, a smell that shouldn't belong to a creature like this. It was similar to the slime's, and although he could use the excuse that it was eating vegetables and spices itself, there might be something more here that he likes.

(The goblin's arrows, the axe, or the chicken, none had an extra that explains this.)

>his mind reaches the conclusion that "magical" beings have this particularity... or perhaps the fact that he drank strange potions as a child is affecting his sense of smell. In any case, it was something curious that he couldn't confirm right now, firstly because his hands don't give him information about these things and secondly, he can't talk to them without seeming crazy to others. Maybe there's someone out there who has information from distant times.
>in that, Mao is the one who answers his question about the bird-reptile creature. Yes, it was edible like any normal animal, another being is the one that turns you to stone upon tasting its flesh, however fantastical that may sound. He truly lived in a very strange world.

Interesting, so those do exist, I've never seen one.

>surely it had some kind of relationship with this creature they were dragging, but it wasn't the time to think too much about it either, arriving then at the topic of poison and arrows. It's always good to have an extra, a boost, be it poison or something else. He doesn't mention anything, staying further behind with the Zumin who only has two spells.
>and so it went until he drank water thanks to the goblin, but only what was necessary. Afterwards, he returned it and the same canteen was passed to the dwarf. They were passing saliva to each other, although he didn't care, it was better than drinking from puddles after the rainy seasons. Indirect kisses are nothing compared to survival.
>in a moment he goes behind the goblin to check her weapons and repair the small tears from combat, as one sharpens a sword, although this was done with magic. He doesn't expect the comment he receives from her, breaking the magic in his fingers and his concentration. The people here are quite direct.

You reach my waist, I'd have to go way back if I wanted to see your ass. Though I've already done it.

>probably the youngest but at the same time the tallest among these four. With a nasal laugh, he takes it upon himself to launch his magic into arrows and a bow, eliminating splinters, repairing the micro-tears in the string, and adjusting the iron tips for a new fight.
>magic was being performed and Vak speaks to her, Victoria responding with an intense heat in her eyes, as if the mage or the true person within had come out.

Well, you should! Question time, question your thoughts, question the world and its answers, because through questioning is how we arrive at the real answers.

>...
>yes, a total nerd. He quickly returns to normal so as not to seem weird.

Anyway, I was just repairing your weapons. Better to keep wear and tear in check.

>now Victoria returns to her place, walking straight, her hand on her sword and moving her head to release the tension in her neck. He asks, answers are given. They were also heading to southern lands as if it were destined for him to travel with them, like a coincidence not to be missed.

It's decided then, companions. I will do what is necessary to help you with my skills and I hope we get along.

>he says calmly. Well, traveling with others offered more security, however, this puts many obstacles in the way of his criminal life... if these people care about law and order, of course, he doesn't know them that well yet and there they have an apparent priest.
>he doesn't mention more, just buttons up his shirt and moves forward, paying some attention to the path. He was curious about his new travel companions, but he didn't want to be a bother with questions because they would surely return them.

>The snack had ended and you felt a bit frustrated at getting such a delicious meal so easily, that strange and strong urge to kill arose within you that wouldn't let you sleep.
>Lemida looked at you strangely, while Kieltra and Goldvint laughed, you didn't understand why but what did it matter.
>Time passed and the landscape through the carriage window changed, little by little the houses went from being luxurious mansions to more sober and simple buildings, people walked the streets as if nothing, they didn't seem to have a survival instinct to you,
>In a matter of minutes the city landscape was replaced by the green plains of Valia, there were only a few clouds in the sky, the sun shone intensely to the point that on the horizon the sky and the plain seemed to merge into one.
>The women were chatting, but you couldn't understand what they were talking about, something about magic and spells.
>Soon you noticed how little by little trees began to appear in the landscape, until finally these were all you could see, it was then that you soon noticed shadows moving among the trees, when suddenly the carriage stopped abruptly,
>Suddenly strange shouts began to be heard, demanding that the occupants get out immediately.

Goldvint: It seems there's trouble, Lemida, Mr. Grunt, could you go see what it's about?

>Lemida nodded and indicated for you to follow her, both of you got out of the carriage and encountered a group of small creatures that looked like two-legged lizards, they carried weapons and looked at them with twisted smiles.

Lemida: Kobolds, this shouldn't take long.

>In Lemida's hands a weapon materialized out of nowhere and she quickly swung a blow towards one of the creatures, hitting one of them directly in the stomach.
>The creature fell to the ground, its eyes were white and blood flowed from its mouth, the other creatures looked scared but did not retreat.
>They began to surround them, preparing to launch an attack at any moment, but cautiously so as not to be caught by surprise again.

>The group continued on their way, the casual chatter was what kept them distracted from the buzzing of insects and the scorching heat of the savanna.
>Across the landscape, you could see wild dogs hunting zebras, large lizards stalking the burrows of small mammals, all creatures that would ignore your presence as long as you kept a good distance from them.
>In the sky, large vultures circled the group, obviously interested in the loot Kilt carried on her back.

Vak: Damn birds, I've heard they're sometimes capable of attacking adventurers to take their meat.

>The goblin readied her bow, waiting to see if any of the birds decided to take the risk of attacking them.

Kilt: Don't worry Vak, those vultures won't attack us, those are just rumors.

>Kilt commented in a relaxed tone as she continued walking. Mao, for his part, was quite quiet; you could tell his ears were more perked up than you remembered, and you noticed a serious expression on his face.
>Soon, you noticed Vak make a strange grimace, then look in a specific direction.

Vak: We need to hide, quick, I smell some troglodytes nearby.

>Kilt nodded silently, and the group sought cover behind some nearby rocks, which also provided shade.

Mao: So the rumors about increased troglodyte activity during the day were true.

>Vak and Kilt didn't seem very nervous, but it was clear they were preparing for a possible fight. The goblin already had an arrow loaded in her bow, and Kilt was gripping her axe.
>Vak gestured for you to peek out with her to check if the troglodytes were closer. In the distance, you could see two strange-looking creatures. They looked like reptiles, but their faces reminded you more of a toad. Their bodies were covered in scales, and they were quite dirty, covered in grime all over.

Vak: The good thing is they'll never see us first. Troglodytes are quite sensitive to light, especially sunlight, which is why it's strange how much they've been seen during the day.

>Troglodytes, you had barely heard rumors of those strange creatures, but the rumors you had heard were not good at all: violent, dirty, depraved. They live in caves hidden from the sun and come out at night to hunt or loot whatever they can. It's also known that they kidnap people, for what purpose is left to each person's imagination.

Vak:They must be about a hundred meters from here. It's clear they were following the trail of blood and the smell, damn opportunists.

>Vak and you hid behind the rock again. The goblin didn't waste time and immediately told Kilt the available information.

Kilt: I see, so it's only two of them. I think we could take them down quickly. What do you say?

>Vak nodded silently, while Mao maintained a doubtful expression on his face. He didn't seem eager to fight again so soon.
>They had to agree quickly, because the troglodytes were getting closer to their position, but one thing was clear: you had the advantage.

>I shift my ass a little.... Too comfortable. Chats, whispers... All of this disturbs me. I couldn't stand the unknown feeling, which disgusted me, scared me, corroded me, so I turn my head while stroking my sword, towards where there's a hole in the wall of this wagon.

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUS3ENV1wbK81HyDVTHEolZT_kDEnHtxP&si=OF49SueyIND2rUxV
>I look through the wagon's window and the world slides by as if it didn't belong to me. The wheels don't creak like bones under a hull, nor does the air smell of iron or open skin.... everything here seems muffled, as if someone had put distance between things and their truth. They gave me soft bread, seasoned meat, honey without stings... not to sustain the body, but to distract it. "You're rotting," whispers the sword, from where it rests against my legs. No... I'm just still. "That's the same thing." That worries me more than hunger. Hunger is clear, honest. This isn't. This is a whisper that lulls. "They're filing your teeth," she says. "Not with stone... with softness." I don't answer. But I know she's right. There's something in this still life that not only feeds, but erases. And the man who forgets necessity also forgets his place. On the steppe there were no questions. The wind cut your face and you knew who you were. The night surrounded you and you knew what to do: light a fire or die. There, life wasn't explained, it was imposed. And in that imposition there was order.

>They've replaced the trial with comfort, hierarchy with the illusion of equality. And something in me rejects that like stagnant water is rejected. "They rot," she murmurs, almost tenderly. "Not because they are weak... but because they forgot how to be strong." The wagon enters a village. Then, further on, the road sinks into a thick forest. The trees rise like old columns, witnesses to something older than these cities. And there, between the shadow and the silence, I feel the world breathe again as before. It's not that the forest is crueler... it's that it doesn't lie. Death is there, always possible, always near, like a law that needs no words.
>War, the hunt... they fear it as if it were a mistake. I remember it as a language. Not the noise, not the senseless bloodshed... but what it reveals. In the clash, in the decision to advance or fall, man sheds all that is superfluous. Only the essential remains. And that... that is the closest to the sacred I have ever known. Not because it destroys, but because it separates. It orders. It gives shape. "Every blow is a choice," she says. "Every life taken... an affirmation. Not of hate. Of what you are." I nod slightly, without realizing it. Because I understand it without wanting to think about it. It's not about killing out of fury or pleasure. That's for broken beasts. It's about something colder, higher... as if every act were inscribed in an order we don't see but feel. On the steppe, I didn't think about these things. It wasn't necessary. They were lived. The nomad needed no reason beyond the horizon. He walked because that was his place in the world. And in that constant movement, in that life on the edge of everything, there was a purity that I don't find here. Here everything is full... and yet, empty. "Do you want to go back?" she whispers.

>I don't answer. But my hand closes on its hilt. It's not nostalgia. It's not a desire to flee. It's something else. It's recognizing that what they call progress feels like regression in the blood. That man was not made for this purposeless stillness. That there is something in us that demands proof, demands risk, demands confrontation... not to survive, but to be. The forest closes in. The light breaks into fragments. And for a moment, a very brief one, I feel the world realign.

"They are here"

>Without thinking, I get off the cart, still moving, falling to the ground and rolling on the floor. I get up.

"Sisilisko"

>Lizardmen, with scaly skin... They were similar to the dragons of the peaks, but I never saw one. The earth still falls from my skin as I straighten up, and for an instant everything clicks. There is no extraneous noise, no thoughts scattering shapelessly. Only the thumping heart. My hands grip the handle tightly and... they tremble, my arms tremble.

"....."

>This...

>My throat closes, my teeth clench. My breathing is cut short in short, rapid gasps. I start to piss myself, I don't even register it fully until I feel that warmth run down my leg, making a puddle at my feet. My eyes fixed on the nearest lizard, unthinking. My muscles tense so much they hurt. They contract, prepare, clench in on themselves as if they were going to break. Because of this, my back arches, my head lowers slightly. I'm not deciding to advance. I am already advancing.

>Your attack connects with one of the kobolds, wounding it severely. It falls to the ground, letting out an agonizing shriek, and the other kobolds appear terrified.

Lemida: You will pay for disturbing us, twisted creatures.

>The woman proceeded to launch an attack, impacting one of the kobold's legs, which let out a cry of pain.
>Even so, the creatures did not desist despite seeing two of their comrades already fallen. One lunged at you, hitting your left leg with a club, but it's barely a scratch for you.
>Another of the kobolds tried to attack you but failed miserably, intimidated by your savage appearance, comparable to a beast, breathing heavily, without even yet feeling that unstoppable fury you sometimes felt.
>Suddenly, a kobold jumped from a nearby tree onto Lemida. She managed to notice, evading a direct blow to the head but receiving it on the shoulder. The woman didn't even complain, focusing her attention on the newly appeared enemy.

Lemida: Oh mother, guide our weapons so they reach their target.

>Following the woman's words, a strange pink light covered your sword and her mace. You didn't know what this light was, but it didn't seem dangerous to you.

>the boy walked with heat, but calmly. Sometimes he would catch the insects that approached him to get a better look, then decide to tear off their wings to leave them to die or simply let them go to continue their insignificant existences. He also observes the violent local fauna looking for food. In truth, nature is quite violent, it is not a place for the weak... and neither is the civilized world, there everyone eats each other but with cutlery.
>on the other hand, the air scavengers were following them, attracted by the warm smell of the corpse that was already starting to sweat and attract more insects. Unpleasant.

(Surely we'll get there before that thing gets worse.)

>the goblin prepares her weapon and says something about the birds, being answered by the dwarf. It's not normal for these creatures to attack them or anything, nor can they do much to them.

Maybe they want to catch you, dwarf.

>then the walk continued, observing the surroundings and his companions. There was a strange tension in Vak and Mao, as if they were feeling something the other two weren't, and that put them on alert.

...

>he immediately draws his sword not because he can see what is happening, but because of the atmosphere. He remains silent until Vak breaks it by talking about his incredible olfactory abilities.

Smell?

>he smells the air without detecting anything special, but since everyone takes his word for it, he also follows them towards the rocks, also covering himself from the harsh daytime sun of the savanna. He lets out a big sigh of relief as he wipes the sweat from his forehead, his eyes were already squinting from the sun.
>now the important thing, the troglodytes. He didn't know much, he had never seen one, but he had the idea that they are violent and live in caves or, according to the hands, underground, coming out at night to hunt and kidnap people to eat them just like druids do in their strange rituals to prolong their lives or something. Druids are evil, the hands told him.
>rummaging a bit in his head adorned with faded hair, he replies to the buzzing.

That's strange. There must be little food... or the night became too dangerous to force them out during the day.

>either they are stragglers, or their numbers have exploded, or they are taking the next step in the evolution of their species, the answers can be many and none are certain until thoroughly investigated. Whatever it is, the important thing is that there are some here and everyone is preparing, Vak signaling him to accompany him, he silently points to himself in confusion. He was almost 1.80m tall and his appearance was that of a flower against a black background, he was bound to attract attention with those colors.
...

>has no choice but to throw himself to the ground and crawl like a soldier, looking from the corner at whatever is approaching. He places his free hand like a spyglass and observes, making the hole smaller or larger as needed.

Mmmm so that's what they look like, I expected something hairier if you ask me.

>they were two humanoids with a reptilian appearance, amphibian perhaps if you looked at their heads. Dirty scales, some strange growths, violent claws on hands and feet. He pays special attention to their feet/paws, they looked very similar to what was previously seen with the cockatrice, as if these two beings were related in some way. They also had tails, which was a bit strange for a biped.

(Were these also weapons from the past? They were savage back then.)

>he heard Vak talking, although he continued to pay attention to those two, pointing his spyglass now to the groin area where no genitalia could be seen, nor did they seem to have breasts or nipples. It was curious, it sparked his morbid curiosity to see what was inside those bodies.

(What a thing, I feel like dissecting.)

Vak, how intelligent are these things? Do you think they have any consciousness like us?

>his spyglass goes to the goblin and although she seemed quite stupid doing that, she wasn't smiling, she was genuinely asking. His moral compass was going to be compromised if he killed something intelligent. One has to have their morality clear to prevail. Although he also asked himself other questions...

(Could she smell them from so far away? I didn't know goblins had such a keen sense of smell. I should be more careful when dealing with one.)

>he smells her clothes which give off a smell of sweat and a strange smell of herbs and vegetables.

(Yes, I should be more aware.)

>in the end they return with the others and he can finally separate his body from the ground which, although not necessary, was just to be safe. One can't know if one of them has already developed superior vision and that's why they are out there during the day.
>Vak is the one who spills the beans about their two pursuers, Kilt responding with confidence because they outnumber them. Mao on the other hand was not sure, especially because he relied on the use of spells like any other magic user... He himself should not be sure of this, but no, he was fine and it seemed right for his research.

Well, they are approaching here following the smell or seeing the scavengers, we won't lose them easily. The safest thing is to kill them... if they want to attack us, of course.

>a cold whisper is heard in his ear.

We could ambush them if you act as bait with the cockatrice, they'll think you're alone and we could attack them from this side, from the rear.

>Kilt acts as bait in the sun and they attack from behind when they get close, going around the rocks. Still, he wanted to see the behavior of these beings first, maybe they could talk.

How much damage does the sword do?

>The conflict is still ongoing, the kobolds are nervous after seeing two of their comrades fall to you with utmost ease.
>The nervous creatures study the situation, but feel there is no way to win, so they begin to disperse rapidly.
>Noticing them trying to flee, you waste no time and give chase to the one closest to you, performing a swift trip that causes the kobold to fall, hitting its head on the ground and falling unconscious.

Lemida: I won't let them escape!!

>The woman shouted in a fierce tone as she threw her flail with terrifying force towards one of the fleeing kobolds.
>The Paladin's weapon struck the kobold's back, knocking it down as it let out its last gasp before collapsing, blood coming from its mouth.
>The last of the kobolds managed to escape, desperate for its life, completely terrified after witnessing two scaleless beings massacre its comrades.
>The combat had ended and now only the soft whisper of the breeze remained, whistling through the trees like a gentle, natural melody.

Lemida: Excellent work Grunt, I must admit it was a bit strange seeing you jump from the carriage, but your instincts are excellent.

>The white-haired woman commented as she approached you, noticing that the kobold you had knocked down was still alive.

Lemida: Curious, I didn't think you were one to hold back, especially against vermin like these, you don't plan on keeping it as a pet, do you?.

>The woman added in a calm and cold tone as she observed the creature lying on the cold ground.
>The kobold was barely breathing, its face still held an expression of fear, it looked too vulnerable, too weak, now it was nothing more than prey at the mercy of its predators.

Kieltra: Well, well, you didn't take long to take care of the problem.

Goldvint: It seems so, excellent work, so, shall we proceed?.

>The young woman they were escorting asked, her face showing that she was impressed with how quickly they had managed to end the threat that had presented itself.

>After a quick calculation, you cast a spell directly at one of the vultures, hitting it in the stomach and bringing it down in pain. The other vultures quickly dispersed after that.
>The group congratulates you for taking care of the annoying birds, especially Vak, who seems very happy.

...

>While checking how far away the troglodytes were, you asked Vak a question about the creatures, specifically about their intelligence and whether she thought they were conscious.

Vak: They are, not extremely intelligent, but intelligent enough to use magic or perform religious practices. It is also known that they enjoy raping other species, both male and female, as well as animals.

>That last part was something the Hands hadn't told you and that you found both curious and disturbing.
>Once back with the rest of the group, everyone started thinking about what they could do with the situation they had on their hands. One thing was clear: guiding creatures like troglodytes to a village was not a good idea.
>Soon you suggested using Kilt and the cockatrice's body as bait for the troglodytes, so that the rest of the group could flank them using the rock they were hiding behind and thus execute a surprise attack.

Kilt: That sounds perfect to me. As soon as they feel like they're getting close, I'll decapitate them with my axe.

>Kilt replied confidently, looking at you, pleased with the idea you had given.

Mao: Do you really think that's a good idea, Kilt? What if those things catch you? You know what they're capable of doing to other anthropomorphs.

>Mao commented worriedly, looking at her dwarf friend, who seemed quite impressed to see that the Zumin had raised an objection.
>While you were discussing what to do, Vak peeked over the rock again to make sure the troglodytes weren't getting too close to their position.

Vak: Hey, those things stopped to examine the vulture that Victoria knocked down. They're about a hundred meters from here now.

>Said the Goblin, keeping her eyes on the creatures, which were getting closer and closer to you.

Kilt: Alright, since you haven't come up with a better idea and seeing that those things are already closer than we want, we'll use Victoria's plan. Everyone get in position.

>The group took formation near the edge of the rock, so they would know when to execute the plan. They watched as, after placing the vulture in some kind of bag, the troglodytes continued on their way.
>When they were at a distance where they could spot Kilt with their eyes, she gave them a signal to start executing the plan. She left the hiding place, turning her back to the troglodytes while you prepared to flank them.

I need you to roll a black dexterity 20-sided die for the stealth check. As for the sword, it has a base damage of 10, but since you are not a martial class, the maximum damage you can do is 5.

>the acid hits and another death is added to the counter, however in this case gravity killed him, not him, so it doesn't count. At least the vultures had stayed there, the others decide to escape.

(Wow, I can hit one of these mid-flight but I can barely aim at a giant chicken.)

>he thought as he watched him fall to his imminent death, shortly after simply continuing with a smile on his face. Apparently the action was fine in the eyes of the others, especially the goblin who is afraid of big birds or something.

>...

>now they were here, looking at bipedal reptiles approaching them because they had been following their trail. The hiding place was good, luckily no other being who had the idea of taking shelter from the sun here would attack them.
>Victoria asks about consciousness and the answer is something she expected, that and several extras. She immediately raises an eyebrow from under her spyglass, soon returning to her normal face and answering.

Really? Disturbing.

(Do these moderately intelligent beings kidnap others to have sex without consent? It sounds like nonsense. Why would they do it? Maybe it's religious.)

>his gaze returns to the beings. He understood sex as physical pleasure and nothing more, he had seen it by spying in brothels but had never tried it, but with all his intelligence he could not understand much more, like how through these exchanges other beings are created with characteristics of the progenitors. Where did babies come from? No idea, he was born from a test tube in an alchemy lab. One could not assume that someone who lived most of their life on the streets knew about this, and the hands did.
>finally both return to the other two, Victoria giving her idea of using Kilt as bait, which she doesn't seem to have any problem with.

Great!

>he exclaims at the idea of heads rolling. The problem here is that there is an objection from the zumin, a total bore and bitter, although it's normal for him to worry considering the information there is. The dwarf seems surprised, this guy must not talk much or propose ideas.
>Victoria, keeping her smile and sword in hand, proceeds to answer him animatedly in an attempt to calm him.

We're not going to let that happen, are we, friend?

>she laughs and hits his shoulder with her palm. Her perception told her that these two had their history, but that wasn't her business or she simply didn't care enough, at least not now that there were more important things on the table.
>Vak, being a bit out of this conversation, approaches the edge of the stone and observes, stating that the creatures stayed with the vulture. Perhaps they have enough intelligence to see that it was downed and that it is melting. But in the end, the plan is the one he gave, so nodding, he follows the captain's orders, going with the goblin to observe, as do the other two.

I don't think scavenger meat makes for a good dinner.

>not far away, the troglodytes bag the corpse and continue their walk towards the rock that awaits them with nothing but death. They watched them approach until at some point Victoria turns her head so they don't catch her hair and patch, now she only trusted Kilt who soon gives the order, stepping out into the sun and turning her back on the troglodytes.

Shhh

>very low, almost inaudible to the others, she makes that sound while with her sword she simulates her index finger between her lips. On her face a smile, and as she moved in the shadow she bites her lower green lip. She couldn't wait to investigate those two.
>in this little time she has spent with the group she has been losing her mask, her mask of refinement and respect has been falling away until she shows herself as she is, torturing flies, shooting birds, or disrespecting corpses. Anyway, if they were going to travel together at any moment it was going to fall off because that's how lies are.

Stealth: 1d20 = 20

>in any case, whether it goes well or badly, she was already preparing her acid splash as she moved, the thing was to take them by surprise and considering that her companions are not very keen on talking to those two or observing their behavior, then attacking them will be by surprising them from behind. Two acid spheres for them.

>The plan was set in motion, Kilt launched herself as bait for the troglodytes while the rest of the group prepared to flank them as soon as the opportunity arose.
>The three manage to blend almost perfectly with the rock's shadow, hiding perfectly from the troglodytes' weak vision, but they had already noticed Kilt, starting to increase their speed.
>The three attack, taking advantage of the element of surprise, Vak shoots an arrow directly into the leg of one of the troglodytes. It lets out a loud scream.
>Mao rings a small bell while keeping her eyes on one of the troglodytes, her lips move slowly and suddenly the troglodyte is surrounded by a strange energy as the sound of the bell echoes terrifyingly, the troglodyte looks much sicker, its posture becomes much more twisted, its scales seem to dry out too much, starting to fall off slowly.
>With a quick gesture of her hands, you launch a bubble of acid directly at the troglodytes, it explodes upon touching its target, covering both monsters in a layer of acid that causes them to let out guttural screams of pain.

Kilt: Time to finish this.

>Kilt lunges forward forcefully, drawing her axe, using all her momentum the dwarf delivers a powerful and wide slash that connects with both troglodytes, ripping open their stomachs and ending the combat.
>The creatures fall to the ground in a pool of their own blood, letting out moans of pain, a putrid odor fills the air, you feel your nose burn every time that disgusting smell comes into contact with your nostrils.

Vak: Damn it!!, these things smell worse up close, let's get out of here.

>Said the Goblin in an annoyed tone as she covered her nose with a rag, her face showed an expression of disgust as she began to walk.
>Kilt and Mao also had disgusted grimaces, the horrible smell coming from the bodies, specifically from the open bellies of the troglodytes, was truly nauseating, if you wanted to study their bodies you would have to prepare yourself.

Grunt Err-Tits
>Before I knew it, it was all over. Peace, calm. I was sitting on top of that Lizard while looking into the forest, and the Tits were talking to me.

"The voices went silent for a moment"

>The sword was satisfied, for now, and that was enough. After listening to Lickers, I observe the Little Lizard and calmly cut off the tentacles on its feet. Then, angling its arm, I break one arm using the strength of my leg, then the other. And finally, with the loincloth that I imply by the spiciness I take it off, and tie its mouth shut, like a crocodile. With that, I get up and rest the being on my shoulder. I'm going to use it for my pleasure later.

"Good"

>I hear the horned ones, and the flat one, continuing the journey. Meaning I get on the cart with the thing on my shoulder. If they don't let me bring it inside, I'll leave it on the roof of the carriage... who's driving the carriage?

>Lemida watches you do all this in silence; she doesn't seem bothered by such acts of cruelty.
>Kieltra and Goldvint notice the creature you're carrying on your shoulder, asking you to place it on the roof, which you do.

Lemida: Grunt, I think it would be best if you sat up front with the driver, that way one of us can act immediately in case of another ambush.

>You nod at the woman's suggestion, approaching the front of the wagon where a man with a pig-like appearance is clearing a log from the road.

Driver: One moment, I'll get this thing moving again soon.

>Without much effort, the man grabs the log and throws it aside, clearing the path. He wipes his forehead with his forearm, letting out a long sigh.
>He calmly walks towards you, extending his hand as you meet face-to-face. A calm smile is on his face. You notice his protruding tusks and pig-like nose, and his height; he's much taller than you.

Gorjal: I'm Gorjal, a professional driver. A pleasure to meet you.

>Once introductions are finished, Gorjal helps you securely tie the kobold to the roof of the carriage so you can continue your journey.

Gorjal: Where are you from, kid? I'm sure I haven't seen your face around town.

>better than it seemed for non-stealth specialized classes, the three blend into the little shade cast by a rock in the wild savanna. They move as instructed while the presumed enemies approach faster, noticing the dwarf charging the chicken, and it's not long before the shooting starts.

Surprise!

>an incapacitating arrow that draws blood and a scream, then a bell and magic that turns one into an elder, releasing the attack Victoria had been preparing since they hid in the shadows. The troglodytes could no longer react, they were finished, proving that they indeed had little intelligence because not even in their dreams would the dwarf be alone. That's how a miscalculation can cost you your life, which is why Victoria approached life with sometimes exaggerated caution.
>with the enemies incapacitated, they are served up for the dwarf, carrying the cockatriz and all, to quickly dispatch the troglodytes with her axe. In truth, she deserved credit for her great physical strength and axe skill to split two bellies at the same time.
>the "corpses" fall to the ground, blood stains the landscape, and the flesh they carried inside smells... particularly horrible. It burned the nose, it burned the eyes. He affectionately touched his left hand on his shoulder, as if thanking him for the idea earlier.

(What a peculiar defense system. They could and should use the smell of their blood to escape from other predators with a keener sense of smell, or simply to recognize each other in the darkness of caves, yes.)

>Victoria looked amazed rather than disgusted, her smile pointing towards the "corpses" as her head theorized biologically about these smells. She then approaches, holding her breath, and with her sword begins to poke one of the wounded, saying that indeed they would stay here because no one was going to stop the bleeding and return the entrails to where they belong. Unfortunately, dying is something easy and very difficult at the same time.

How disappointing, I thought these guys were going to put up a good fight.

>he laughed and poked them, then heard the displeasure of the goblin who must be the most unfortunate due to her keen sense of smell. He also didn't want to vomit here and waste good food; he had already held his breath for a long time and, out of pure consideration for the goblin, he wasn't going to vivisect these guys and get stained with their disgusting blood. It's hard to find a decent bath and wash clothes, being a vagabond is not easy.

Yes, it's better to leave, this smell is going to attract wild animals and they'll surely eat them while they're still conscious... Nature is very cruel.

>without much trouble, he sheathes his weapon and directs a few last words to the dying, also pulling the arrow from her leg with a yank to spin it between his fingers. It was like the game over scenes in the Arkham games where bosses taunt you against a black background.

Better luck in the next life, friends. Be smarter, okay?

>he turns his back on them and continues the walk with the others. There was no mercy; the other three and he were going to leave them there to die from blood loss or something worse. He wasn't the only heartless monster at that moment, but in the end, everyone is a monster deep down, eating each other...

See? I told you they weren't going to kidnap Kilt, have a little more faith.

>he punches Mao on the shoulder and speaks to him with a laugh, then clutches his shirt at the stomach, not before returning the bloody arrow to the goblin.

All this fighting made me very hungry.

>The ambush had been a success, the troglodytes lay dying on the hot desert sand, surrounded by a fetid odor.
>You approached the dying creatures, sword in hand, and began to prod them curiously, though the putrid stench emanating from their insides forced you to hold your breath.
>The troglodytes let out small whimpers every time you poked them with your sword, looking at you with resentment in their final moments, and you also began to notice that the smell they emitted was more dangerous than you thought, as your eyes were starting to sting being so close to their open entrails.
>You moved away from the troglodytes, commenting on how their smell might attract scavengers and that they might start devouring the troglodytes alive, something quite macabre.

Vak: I doubt it, anything with a sensitive nose would stay away from that shit.

>Vak had made a mask out of a piece of cloth that covered her nose and mouth, though her expression showed that she could still smell it.
>You said goodbye to the dying troglodytes, aurafarming on the deathbed of the poor creatures, calmly turned your back on them and followed Vak.
>Kilt and Mao had already started walking back to the village, so Vak and you quickly caught up to them. You approached Mao, patting his shoulder in a friendly manner and joking that he should have more faith, the goblin smiled somewhat nervously.

Kilt: It's true Mao, you know very well that two Troglodytes would have a hard time against me even if I had a horse tied to my back.

>Kilt then flexed his right arm, showing off his prominent muscles, his face had an arrogant expression, though you knew the dwarf had the right to brag.
>Soon you changed the subject, commenting on how all the fighting had made you hungry.

Vak: I'm hungry too, but I don't want to go to the restaurant in town, I stole some coins from a drunk and it would be foolish to return to the scene of the crime.

>Vak commented casually as she walked beside you and checked her bag. You noticed that Kilt and Mao didn't seem surprised by what the goblin said.

Kilt: Well, that means it would be best to deliver this bird and get on our way to the next town immediately.

>The dwarf added in a tired tone, then let out a sigh. Mao, for his part, said nothing, but he didn't seem annoyed or anything.

Vak: Buy some meat so we can cook something on the way, for now I think this will be enough to fill our stomachs a bit.

>The goblin handed you a pickled egg and a strip of dried meat. Vak approached Kilt and Mao, giving them a portion as well. It wasn't a buffet, but it was enough to feed and fill the stomach, at least for the moment.

'...'

>Finally, after a while, you arrived at the village. Kilt and Mao entered, heading to deliver the order, while Vak and you stayed on the outskirts.

Vak: Damn, I can still smell a bit of those damn things in my nose.

>The goblin commented as she removed the mask from her face. It wasn't well-regarded to go around with your face covered in towns and cities.

Vak: And tell me, Victoria, how did you learn to use magic?.

>The green dwarf asked as she dropped her rear onto the ground. Her expression was calm as she maintained eye contact with you, looking at the only eye you have uncovered.

>pinched the destitute, covered his nose and mouth with his forearm, and his eye looked at the pathetic state of these two beings, who returned his gaze with resentment. The unpleasant smell grew stronger, although throughout all this he was testing that their bodies, although robust, were not precisely very resistant when pricked... or cut, or pierced with arrows. Their flesh is as soft as any other.

(Are these guys even adapted to these hot conditions? It's strange to see a toad in these lands.)

>strange visions that did not align with what he knew about biology and biomes. Anyway, he didn't want to open them up and see inside, nor did he want to spend any more time here with them, so he turned back, answering the goblin, who now looked like a thief rather than a shooter, that she was surely both.

The best seasoning for a meal is hunger, dwarf.

>and with goodbyes made, leaving them to die under a strong sun, the two reach the dwarf and the mouse without much trouble, without even looking back. Right there Victoria exchanges with Mao, or rather, she talks to him because Mao himself doesn't answer, but it's Kilt who responds, boasting about her strength.

Impressive strength, yes. It's not usual to see a woman so physically strong.

>looks at the arm, the muscles, thinking about the women he has known. His mother was not his mother, but just a woman who took care of him and probably without her own will; he also knew some prostitutes who gave their bodies for money, some feeding him from time to time or treating him badly for being on an even lower social scale than them. The normal housewives he had interacted with simply waited to find a husband and that's it, zero, zero ambition. Sad.
>then, this woman... or so he presumes from her voice and hands. A mystery that is not spoken of, whose past is unknown but whose power is known. Her icy flesh carried resentment, not only resentment for a racial supremacy from the uncertain past, but something terrible that had happened to both her and her son, he had seen it in that terrible nightmare. Can the resentment of a dead person cause destruction? Would he be willing?

(I don't care about resentment, destruction is fun in itself.)

>but putting those things aside, he was now with these adventurers who broke the mold of what one would expect from a housewife. Quite an experience to learn more about these curious creatures who smell good and bleed monthly for some reason he doesn't know.
>Victoria changes the subject, a joke because no one in their right mind would be hungry after seeing those stinking cold cuts or simply killing two "people", however this did not apply to the goblin who also confesses her misdeeds about the restaurant he had been looking at several times.

(...)
(These people are going to get me into a lot of trouble, I can already see it.)

Did you know that stealing is bad? That's what the guards told me.

>chuckles, he was just there to annoy. But the fact that the other two barely react to these declarations means that people around here are not so clean.
>once again he looked at the landscape, listened to what the leader was saying, and out of the corner of his eye he glanced at the goblin's bag, which she was rummaging through. Not much later, she pulls something out.

...
>food is offered to him, again met with that silent and cold stare. Should he accept it? Would it be socially awkward to refuse? Yes, he was somewhat hungry, but not enough to justify eating, and his lifestyle was never to consume more than necessary... which was why he was malnourished beneath his shirt.

... If you keep treating me like this, I'll have to make you my wife.

>laughing again, he accepts the food with his "clean" hand—the one that hadn't been touching blood or wiping slime residue. It was a pickled egg and a strip of meat, both ready to be devoured regardless of origin. Without saying much, he begins eating in silence, taking small bites and chewing thoroughly to minimize the need for water.

>...

>the village grew closer with every step they took, eventually arriving without ceremony or welcome—simply arriving, and he felt slightly better having civilization nearby.
>as agreed, Kilt and Mao enter the village alone, leaving Victoria with the goblin for company. He could have accompanied those two and perhaps squeezed out more coins with his words and magic, but he also didn't want to walk in and get hanged for stealing a sword.

They're going to take a while, right?

>he closes his eye, takes a deep breath, and within the darkness of his mind, non-Euclidean geometries begin to form. Twisted mysteries of logic and mathematics. Sometimes points of light connected by lines to others, or triangles within triangles giving birth to more triangles. Sometimes numbers, sometimes letters.
>while resting and trying to recover spell uses, he answers the question from his new partner in crime.

My father taught me. He's a great mage and alchemist from a noble family, though I chose to cut ties and walk my own path because I don't want to live in anyone's shadow.

>was there any truth in these words? Maybe, just enough to talk about magic. Still, it wasn't wise to go around saying he came from a noble family.

He believes magic is divine, a gift from the gods, but I don't think it's anything like that—it's a concept more tied to the earthly, to the visible and tangible. Anyone can achieve this kind of magic if they develop their mind sufficiently.

>he raises his arm, index finger pointing at his head, his forehead.

Logic—finding logic within the world's illogical nature. That's the answer... though many others reach magic through various other means, other lucky bastards are just born with it.

>possessing hands like his expanded his brain; otherwise, he'd be like any other non-mage.
>with that same finger, finishing his little magic lecture, he points at the goblin in front of him and moves it forward to poke her nose.

>he makes the sound of a bursting bubble, then laughs.

The taste of troglodytes is on your tongue, not your nose. Drink more water or try a lemon—lemonade always helps.

>his hand returns to his knee, his mind still wandering, but now it's his turn to ask questions.

So then, how about you? Does hunting run in your blood? Do you have a family or anything? Let me guess—bandits raided your village and killed everyone? That's why you travel the world seeking revenge.

>While time passed you could feel as if something was flowing towards your interior, soon your hands told you that you had recovered a spell, good news in case you needed to use magic.

Vak: Wow, you took your time, did you go to collect the pay?.

>The goblin comments in a somewhat annoyed tone, looking with an expression of boredom on her face at Kilt and Mao who are peeking through the doors of the town.

Kilt: Don't complain little goblin, I went to buy some malt and bread so that we can eat like kings tonight.

>Kilt raises a canteen and two bags with his hands, showing what they would eat tonight, on his face was a wide smile.
>Mao, on the other hand, approaches you and hands you a bag with gold coins, on his face is a pleasant smile.

Mao: Here's your share, twenty-five gold coins, if you want you can count them.

>Already with Kilt and Mao back the group is once again complete, it is then that the zumin takes out a map from his pouch.

Mao: I think at this moment our next destination should be Brighttus, a town dedicated to livestock, it's towards the southeast, what do you think?.

>Kilt and Vak nodded in silence, then directed their gaze towards you, waiting to see if you agreed with the decision.

>true stories, false stories, the only thing that mattered was that the person here wasn't anyone besides a mage, everything else that was is irrelevant to outsiders' eyes.

Yes? You'd be surprised by the eccentric faces out there.

>no, he didn't seem like a noble at first glance, even his attitude was strange when barely known... and later too. Too much theatrics and too much evil jester.
>later on everything about the smell and also the doubt about the bow, responding the same with several pieces of information, keeping that last one for himself.

Bandits..., I see. It's an interesting story, in the end we're all the efforts of our parents, from seeds until trees made with their hands and thoughts. Or a sculpture made with hammer and chisel. We're no more than what they made us...

>memes... Not exactly funny images, but the original word.
>here Victoria demonstrated that she didn't have too many people to chat with for a while, boring much with her things that simply stays quiet and continues his meditation, opening his eye occasionally to look at the goblin without saying anything.

>...

>time passed and magic flowed toward him, he could feel it and hopefully that feeling be permanent. Unfortunately in all this time at the interperie he could barely restore energy for a single spell. The hands tell him so.

(I'll have to make much use of this. Thank you.)

>the geometries and alphabets continued wandering around until he heard the voice of the goblin, returning to the darkness of his closed eyelids. He opens his eyes to look at those two approaching the duo, happy with the payment.

Well it would have been more fun to be here in the heat. Invite us next time.

>with a smile he stands up, removing the dust from the dark pants. He had numb legs, no longer wanted to stay there restoring magic.
>ignores a bit the dwarf and glances at Mao approaching him, giving him his attention a little later. Observes the bag and takes it in one hand calculating the weight, feeling the same coins between his fingers. Smiling he replies.

I don't think I need to count them, we're partners from now on, right?

>it sounded like a threat but it was the opposite, he gave them his vote of confidence. Likewise he didn't think they were 25 coins each, but that was the total for killing the creature. Seven or six coins was already fine.

(With this I can live five years.)

>continues a bit calculating weight until at a point he leaves it and hangs the bag on his belt, right in the front part to have the bag in sight and so that no one can steal it so easily.
>not much later Mao takes out his map, mentioning a new destination... Today apparently there won't be many drinks because they won't reach the next town on time. Kilt and Vak nod to the idea then look at their direction waiting for their opinion, same that comes with a rise and fall of shoulders while he passes his gaze over the three.

Better there than anywhere else, we can advance better in the dusk where the temperature is ideal.
Then let's go, I already want to rest.

>and so he takes the step toward the one with the map, following him not too far. He gets a bit distracted by caressing one of the hands on his shoulder.

(I hope nothing attacks us this time, that it be a damned peaceful trip.)

I leave the kobold on top of the wagon, giving it a slap on the ass like one slaps luggage to check if it'll burst open. For that, they throw me to the front part of the wagon for smelling like piss. I just go and sit there, swinging my legs, noticing the driver clearing the path with ease.

"I be ehm... Grunt"

"You strong"

I give the handshake and we continue on our way.

>The group started to move forward barely and you gave your answer, a cattle town, places where there's quite a bit of work for adventurers like you, the creatures usually hunt the cattle and the farmers usually pay very well to get rid of anything that threatens their livelihood.
>Mao was the one leading the group this time, carrying a map in his hands which he was reviewing calmly, behind him not very far away you were followed by Vak and Kilt who were attentive to the surroundings.
>While they were walking through the desert you started to caress one of the hands that you were carrying on your shoulders, cold to the touch as always.

Vak: How long will it take us to reach that town you mentioned Mao?, my little and beautiful body needs rest after all the chaos we went through today.

>Comments the goblin while stretching before letting out a yawn, in her eyes some tears gather indicating that the fatigue she feels is real.
>You also notice fatigue on Kilt's face, despite her not complaining her body doesn't let her pretend, her posture shows that she is sluggish and that a rest would not come amiss, just like you.

Mao: I can assure you we won't arrive today, but there's no need to worry, here on the map there's marked an oasis that is considered quite safe to camp.

>Answers the zumin in a calm tone while showing the map to the goblin, who lets out a sigh of fatigue.

Vak: Then tell me at least that camping site is close, I'm tired of walking.

>Adds the goblin while checking her bag, extracting another cured egg which she proceeded to eat in one bite.

Mao: We should be arriving before sunset, if we don't run into anything on the way clear.

...

>The sun began to set and with its arrival the climate began to be cooler, the sweat cooled down and the fatigue became even more present, but suddenly you noticed how Mao's ears raised.

Mao: I see it in the distance, the oasis!!.

>The girls let out a sigh of relief and the group quickened their pace to start setting up the camp.
>While walking towards the oasis, you noticed how Vak and Kilt were attentive to the ground, picking up twigs and dry sticks, Mao on her part was gathering dry grass and some berries or mushrooms that were found.
>When they finally arrived at the oasis the girls dropped the wood they had gathered and started to light a fire, on his part the zumin dropped everything he had collected on a blanket and took out a book from his bag, starting to inspect each of the objects.

Kilt: Victoria, could you accompany me to look for a bit more wood?, the ideal is that the fire doesn't go out during the night.

>Commented Kilt trying to hold back a yawn, she stood up leaving Vak with the task of lighting the fire.

>The Hogorco hears your response, his face maintaining that calm expression. He brings the strange smoking stick to his mouth, takes a couple of puffs, then lets smoke escape through his nose.

Gorjal: I see, you come from quite far, buddy. Tell me, are there pretty girls where you're from?

>The man asks in a calm tone, but you ask him a question in return, one that seems to catch him slightly off guard. He looks at the stick, then takes another puff.

Gorjal: This is a pipe, buddy. It's used to smoke various herbs. Right now I'm smoking a mix of lumi-leaves and volcedro. Want to try?

>The man extends his hand toward you, offering the so-called pipe.
>Once you accept or decline his offer, both of you remain silent for a while, until finally the Gorjal breaks the silence.

Gorjal: By the way, what are you planning to do with that kobold? I mention it because I know someone in the next town who'd pay us very well for it.

>The hogorco comments in a tranquil tone, when suddenly you hear the sound of a bell. The hogorco immediately stops the carriage.
>Soon the women get off the carriage. Lemida approaches where the two of you are, her face as always impassive.

Lemida: Sorry for the timely stop, but Miss Goldvint needs to take a brief rest.

>As the woman says this, you notice out of the corner of your eye how Goldvint and Kieltra head into the nearby forest.

Lemida: Now, if you'll excuse me.

>Soon Lemida follows them into the woods as well. Gorjal lets out a small laugh as he takes another puff from his pipe.

Gorjal: Looks like the ladies needed to go to the bathroom. Let's just hope nothing ambushes them now—after all, they'll be quite vulnerable.

>The hogorco comments, letting smoke out through his mouth and nose. On his face is an expression you can't quite interpret—it's the first time you've seen anything like it.

>And so, just as they arrived at the village, they walked on without looking back, under a sun that kissed the exposed skin with scorching heat. Current objective? Land of cattle and agriculture, surely with plenty of work to give to mere travelers like these four suspicious ones.
>Victoria walked in silence, trying not to sink her shoes too much into the sand—shoes not suitable for this kind of trip, needless to say—but she didn't have the money to buy more appropriate gear either. Nothing in her attire said "Desert".

(A reflection without a face. A final wish without prayers. The end of hope, the end of love, the end of times. All that remains is silence.)

>He was there, lecturing poetry inside his head while looking around: those dunes, that clear sky, those blood worms... No, the last ones must be hallucinations; blood worms don't exist. He also noticed that his group had no kind of head protection except for the goblin with her cloak, which struck him as curious.

(Heatstroke is very common.)

>Troublesome and dangerous terrain where no visible paths can be made, and worse, a terrible climate. These lands were not for the weak of heart. Still, they had to get a camel for better transport, but for that he'd have to sell his house and give his daughter in marriage. Animals are expensive.
>Then he tucked his hands into one of his pockets and unbuttoned his shirt to take it off, revealing his malnutrition and the marks of life on his torso. Nothing new, zero muscle, just protruding bones that contrasted with his face. Then he buttoned up again and created a shemagh, adjusting it over his head, returning his cold hands to his now bare shoulders.
>Now he could enter manifestations without being recognized.

...

>His hair peeked out from under the black of the shirt, but all of this went to the background when the goblin broke the infinite silence of the trek to speak to the guide. Everyone seemed and was tired, even him, exhausted not so much by the walking, but rather by the desert heat. Undoubtedly, it's better to be liminal or travel at night.
>His single eye passed from member to member, stopping its gaze on Kilt.

Yeah, and the day isn't even over yet. Too much fighting, walking, and carrying chickens.

>He figured out what the other must be thinking and let that slip out without expression, since his face wasn't visible, then paying a bit of attention to what those other two were saying. There was still a good while of travel left, though there was a stop nearby that would serve them to rest. Didn't sound bad; he didn't want to go through there with barely a spell in his bag.

Shhh, don't call for misfortune, I don't want any more fights today.

>He answered tiredly to Mao before the conversation died down once more to give way to the desert winds and one or another animal moving through these complex terrains to maneuver. His hand was placed above the ghost's hand in an attempt to steal its cold, a cold that never ends even if they walk under the sun.

>...

>The hours under solar radiation passed slowly; the landscapes weren't too good, aesthetically. The sun's reflection against the sand burned the eyes, but nothing they couldn't endure.
>Soon, with the sunset approaching, they left behind the dunes to land on firmer ground, and the team's guide gave the good news that he could see the oasis. Victoria then walked over to his side and looked too. It was amazing to see something other than sand.
Isn't this a hallucination from dehydration? Well, it was about time, and just in time; the temperature is better.

>with a deep breath, he removes the "hood" and returns the shirt to its base state, placing it back over his sun-scorched torso. He wipes the sweat from his forehead and, with a parched voice and desert-dry lips, speaks again.

The desert isn't so bad after all.

>his mood had improved a bit with the distant sighting. Thus, while the two women gather materials for a fire, he helps the mouse with the collection of edible and non-edible resources as they continue walking.

That creature is a parasite and it's poisonous; you'll die paralyzed. It's a parasite specific to this type of tree.

>a fungus.

Those are edible; they're good for stomach aches. The bush means there's water nearby or underneath.

>berries.
>his hands were giving him the dirt because he, although he knew something about plants and survival, hadn't read many books... None.
>Mao was also gathering dry grass for the fire, so he goes to collect dry fuel as well. Upon arriving, he crouches and leaves everything on the ground to go straight to the water, looking at himself in it and washing his face. He takes off the patch for a moment but doesn't open that eye for already explained reasons, also washing that eye with sand. After finishing, he returns to the others and puts the patch back on.
>everyone there was doing something except him. Mao was looking at his collection of shiny edible objects, comparing them with a book because he's not an idiot to look twice before eating something; while the other two paid attention to the campfire. He was going to take a walk around the place until he was stopped by the dwarf leader, and he responds with a green-lipped smile.

Sure, I was planning to take a walk around here anyway.

(An oasis must attract a lot of attention, both from animals and others.)

>to look for firewood.
>Victoria approaches to offer him a hand to stand up, then follows her, looking carefully at the surroundings. This place had quite a bit of vegetation and didn't give him a very good feeling, although again, it might just be his paranoia kicking in.

...

>and there he was thinking about what he should say or if he should say anything, make conversation. Silence didn't bother him too much, but to people, that makes them uncomfortable.

You know, I don't know if this might sound strange or awkward; I don't want this to be weird, but... you seem somewhat fascinating to me. I've never seen a woman like you, so... robust, with muscles.

>suddenly he was there observing her arms, or rather looking at her body, then the axe on her back. It was a vision that broke his world, something outside his normality.

Heavens, I haven't even seen someone as strong as you without being a magic user; there were plenty in my hometown.

Have you trained in some specific way or something? I'd love to know; you're interesting.

>his hand, without even realizing it, was moving dangerously toward this woman's arm that reaches him up to the height of her belly.

C-can I?

>Kilt and you ventured deeper into the oasis in search of more firewood to spend the night, both of you began to walk carefully through the lush terrain of the oasis, using natural shadows to try and go unnoticed, seeking to avoid an unwanted encounter.
>It was like this that you spent time in silence, you had already managed to gather a bit more firewood, but there was something that caught your curiosity, the physical power that Kilt had demonstrated called your attention strongly, especially how she had obtained it, since you couldn't feel even a little magic in it.
>Finally you decided to break the silence, starting a conversation, taking the dwarf by surprise, she looked at you a bit surprised, listening attentively to what you had to say.

Kilt: Well, I'm the daughter of a blacksmith, so I spent a good part of my childhood in front of the anvil hammering, that and the weapon training from dad forged the arms you see now, but I'm not just muscles eh, this figure you see is thanks to this armor that seems more like a damn sauna.

>The dwarf then flexed one of her arms while giving herself a pat on the stomach with the other, it was then that you asked permission to touch one of her arms, a bit nervous thinking about how the dwarf would react.

Kilt: Go ahead, handsome, but if you go too far I owe you a drink.

>Her voice had a playful tone while flexing her arm, your hand that you had unconsciously brought closer finally came into contact with Kilt, the warm and somewhat rough skin of the dwarf was the first thing you felt, followed by something you could only describe as a steel ball, firm, extremely hard and inflexible. some simply majestic muscles.
>While running your hand along the dwarf's arm you felt how her muscles tensed in front of your touch, the veins marked across her arm pulsing with blood, her hands looked thicker than yours, heavy, you could notice calluses on her palms as well as some scars that seemed to be from burns.

Kilt: Enough touching for now, if you behave and manage to gather more firewood than me I'll let you touch something better, now let's get moving, it's already starting to get cold.

>You managed to notice a slight blush on Kilt's face while saying this, the dwarf then got to work again looking for more firewood to return to the campsite, on your part, you also felt how the blood had come to your face, the heat of the blush made your burned cheeks hurt a bit, although this was eased by the cold breeze that began to rise in the desert while the moon began to rise in the sky.

>I watch as the cart creature consumes whatever that was, making a funny effect, like it was a dragon, with fire in its stomach. My face appreciates how those African children look when they see something of technology for the first time, childish curiosity with adult distrust.

I stretch my arms as if wanting to show the size of a dragon, then move them as if they were wings. Dragons were beings of unimaginable power, if I could have a child with a dragon, it would be an even stronger being. I just cross my arms and nod, as if listening to my thought and say "what a good idea" although the Gorjal couldn't hear this, just looking at me like a schizophrenic.

I stretch my hand like those Chinese monkeys, and observe the object.... I smell it a bit and put it in my mouth, then try to imitate the ogrorco, absorbing the smoke... and absorbing... and absorbing more, until my face turns red, purple, blue ....

"COG COFCOFCFFOOFF AHhhgggg"

"COF COF"

>I return the pipe and continue coughing, letting out the smoke, how was this pleasant? It was like when I made a campfire and the wind sent the smoke to my eyes, making them tear up. And with that I cross my arms and stay silent watching the landscape...... ............................................ But fortunately, the orc breaks the ice.

I turn, get up, my face, observing the Lizard on the ceiling, to see if it woke up or if it's okay there, then looking at the Gorjal.

"No"

"..."

"I'll use it later, for now I need it"

"Later I can lend it to you maybe"

>Then the cart stops suddenly, I look around until Teturricas and the Yak, come out with the other.... And they go, into the forest. So I look at the Orc in silence, not understanding why? Are they going to hunt? To the bathroom? I didn't understand why if they were going to urinate, not just.... They urinated on the tree in front, why did they have to go so deep into the forest?. So I just sit down.... waiting..... and waiting...... but curiosity was greater.

"...."

>Without being able to hold back this curiosity, since I wasn't raised with limits, nobody raised me, I get off the cart and walk in that direction, a bit "away" to not go directly, but to be able to see.

>Both walked in the scant silence the oasis afforded; they didn't need to worry much about sounds, but rather about the strange colors that clashed in this kind of environment. The calm water seemed like a mirror reflecting the skies, that strange and unknown place that had always filled him with immense curiosity. What lies there? Are the gods there? Looking through a telescope only revealed spheres and light; he had tried it when he was a high-class boy. What mysteries lie beyond the near?
>Victoria paid attention to the surroundings, gathering fallen branches and breaking them for easier transport. Watch out for any threats, but more importantly, watch for plants or anything else with some use. It wasn't the first or last time she'd been out gathering and hunting, and she'd better get extra value out of this firewood search with the dwarf.

1d20 = 10

>Then a conversation arose between them, the admiration of strength and power (like any mage) and his subsequent explanation, which the boy paid close attention to; after all, it was interesting. It was nothing more than physical training since childhood, participating in blacksmithing and weapon training, something he'd seen coming. Dwarves have the stereotype of blacksmithing and weapon mastery, and it was good to meet an authentic one. He'd always been fascinated by creation, someone's hands crafting things and all that, just as he creates magic.

...

>Without saying a word, he gave a single tap to the armor to make it ring, one of those taps you give a closed door. Well, in the end, it was a satisfactory response from Kilt, something that increased his interest.

It's curious that these things look so heavy and clunky but aren't at all. Anyway, you should be careful using this in the desert. You're used to the heat and all that, I know, I sense it, but it's better to be careful.

>He observed it a bit more, hand on his chin, then adjusted his throat and continued.

So your father and blacksmithing. Could you ever teach me?!

>He asked that last part spontaneously. It was his chance and he wasn't going to waste it. He looked enthusiastic, both hands clasped pleading "please" while holding the branches under his non-dominant arm.

It has to be more than heating a mineral and striking it into shape, right? Right?! I know about ferriferous sand and coal specialties. Please teach me.

>How exactly is a sword created? How is a blade shaped? Do blacksmiths also work wood to make arrows or leather for scabbards? Must one put a soul into their creations and work with passion? Blacksmithing raised many questions for him, and in his mind he imagined a building made of just that, but his attention to the woman's body wouldn't let him imagine a place for that blacksmithing; there was simply an empty space.
>Now he was paying attention to Kilt's strong body. Maybe he found her attractive, maybe it was just appreciation for raw physical strength and power. What could he even call attractive? His tastes were particular.
>at that, he asks for permission, the darkness on his cheeks fading quickly as he laughs at the woman's comment granting him permission to touch.

Don't worry, my hands won't slip. The last clown I saw getting too smart ended up without teeth for touching the wrong woman.

>laughs remembering the man who was truly a jester, a bounty hunter, but a jester nonetheless. Pluto the Deceiver. Peculiar characters from his city, as ugly and beautiful as always.
>without further ado, he leans in slightly to match her height, then proceeds to touch with great care, almost like one would touch a snowflake at first, then able to touch in more detail.

I won't do it unless you want a free drink.

>chuckles softly. His hand moved slowly over the foreign skin. It was hard, rough, tensed, perhaps not used to this kind of closeness. A pair of steel biceps.

Impressive definition, yes.

>gave a light touch following a protruding vein with his index and middle finger. His hands were now soft from the earlier water, giving a certain contrast to the skin he touched. Following that gentle touch, he then gripped harder to feel the worked muscles, both hands palpating. His eye also looked, moving down his arm like his hands, though the latter stopped at the forearm because touching his hands was already enough, it would be going too far.

(Hard hands, you can tell the effort in them.)

>rough, probably, with calluses, with scars surely from blacksmithing. Looking at someone could give many clues; just by seeing her, one already gets the idea that she's a warrior... Not exactly a specialization, but a warrior in general, someone skilled in combat.
>at that, the woman's voice made him pull his hands away, disappointed, with an inverted U on his lips, however the next line seemed very strange to him. This thing was exactly a flirtation and it felt strange when someone did it with him; he often took his guard down. It was supposed to be him who did it.

That's cheating, you have an axe.

>said with his eye closed in an attempt to avoid eye contact, though he had noticed the dwarf's blush as much as his own dark face. Again, the interaction had caught him off guard, with his guard down.
>Kilt then went back to his business of taking wood, there ending the conversation and physical interaction. The night cold was already rising from the ground, something that cooled the blood a bit.

(Alright. Women are quite a thing.)

>rubbed his hands to protect them from the cold, setting off to gather fallen wood, something easy because they were in the desert; here fallen wood dries very quickly and is useful from the very first moment. His mind, on the other hand, was wondering if maybe he shouldn't be interacting with this woman that way; he didn't want to break the team dynamic or have Mao keep an eye on him if he had something for the dwarf... But a man has to indulge his desires; he wanted to continue the game.
>his hands, on the other side, told him not to get illusions with others, but nothing more.

>The hogorco raises an eyebrow and widens his eyes considerably when you mention fire-breathing scalies in your response, but his expression soon returned to that calm demeanor.
>Accepting Gorjal's offer, you take the pipe and examine it thoroughly. The wood feels smooth, a pretty good carving. The aroma is a bit strange, but the dominant scent is ash. Finally, you take a deep puff, as much as your lungs could handle, before finally letting it all out in a fit of coughing.

Gorja: Hehehe, you're quite interesting, kid, and you have lungs as big as a Cockatrice's. Now get ready, you'll feel the effect soon.

Gorjal: I'll think about it, pal, I'll think about it.

>The cart stops, and the women get off with the intention of going to the bathroom. Gorjal makes a comment as this happens.

>You soon strike up a conversation with Kilt, in which she tells you how she got her muscles. As soon as you learned she knew blacksmithing, you asked Kilt to teach you the trade.

Kilt: It's not that I'm very skilled at this, Victoria. For me, blacksmithing basically boils down to heating metal and shaping it with blows. However, I kept my father's notes. If you'd like, I can lend them to you and also teach you how to use the tools, if we ever get access to some.

>With Kilt's response about a possible future blacksmithing tutelage being positive, you proceed to inspect the woman's muscles, admiring her body toned by work, a physical power that many mages secretly admire and envy.
>Soon Kilt would end the interaction, leaving a flirty proposal hanging in the air as she returned to work. Both of you then got down to business, looking for firewood.
>Kilt used her axe to break fallen logs, which she then put in a bag, accumulating a good amount of firewood. For your part, you remained focused on collecting easy-to-carry branches, as well as gathering anything that could be used as an ingredient in the future.

Kilt: This is enough. Let's head back and hope that Vak and Mao have already started preparing dinner.

>With that said, Kilt and you head back to the camp, once again alert to any strange sounds and trying to avoid contact with the local fauna. After all, a snake bite was still dangerous.
>Upon arriving at the camp, the first thing you noticed was Vak's naked body standing in front of the campfire. Several skewers were cooking around it. Mao was preparing skewers in front of the campfire while chatting with Vak.

Vak: Look who's finally back. We were already thinking of going to look for you.
>The goblin had a cheerful tone in her voice, you could tell she was much more relaxed, her small green body was completely exposed, her nipples were quite pronounced with large areolas, there was a lot of hair in her crotch, the goblin didn't show the slightest bit of shame.

Kilt: Have some decency, dwarf, and put something on! What kind of impression are you going to give Victoria?.

>Kilt seemed somewhat annoyed by Vak's carefree attitude, who didn't pay much attention to her comrade's words, sitting down in front of the fire while taking a skewer.

Mao: Vak has always been like this, Kilt, don't expect her to start acting differently just because Victoria is with us.

>Mao then took two skewers from the campfire and stood up, approaching you with a calm smile on her face.

Mao: We still have a long way to go, so for now let's focus on resting.

>Mao then handed you the skewers and returned to the fire, Kilt and you approached, leaving the firewood a safe distance from the campfire.
>You noticed Kilt taking off her leather armor with a sigh, Mao, on the other hand, wasn't wearing the hood that covered her face, revealing shiny brown hair and tanned skin.

Kilt: Pass me some malt, Mao, I feel like drinking something.

>The zumin nodded before tossing a canteen to the dwarf, which she caught with ease and proceeded to take a deep drink from.

Kilt: Delicious! Alright, I'm going to sleep a bit, remember, someone always has to be awake watching the fire.

>Kilt then quickly ate her skewer and took another swig from the malt canteen before tossing it to you and proceeding to lie down on one of the blankets spread on the sand.
>Vak then gestured for you to come closer, a smile on her face as she took a bite of one of the skewers.

Vak: Come closer Victoria, let's drink some of that malt and enjoy the food, Mao, give me some bread please.

>Mao then took a piece of bread from her bag and approached Vak to hand it to her, then she approached you, handing you a piece as well.
